Pretty dull gig really. Axxis are really boring. Gamma Ray weren't much better. Helloween were decent but didn't play any good songs. Both they and GR played all their formulaic stuff.

Axxis has two good songs in the middle of theirs (don't know the titles). Somewhere Out In Space was pretty cool for GR, but otherwise I was mostly bored. King of 1000 Years and If I Could Fly rocked for Helloween, and As Long as I Fall is way better live than on the album. Andi Deris was awesome so it was a shame they didn't play more good songs.

Happy to assist with gaps...

Gamma Ray set list:
Intro (Welcome)
Gardens Of The Sinner
New World Order
Fight
From The Ashes
Empress
Valley Of The Kings
Rebellion In Dreamland
Heavy Metal Universe
Ride The Sky
Somewhere Out In Space
---------------------------------
Send Me A Sign

Axxis set list:
Doom Of Destiny
Tales Of Glory Island
Little War
Take My Hand
Angel Of Death
Little Look Back

I enjoyed Helloween and Gamma Ray a lot more than I expected. Missed Axxis, but have a photo of setlist from stage.

Will have review and photos up in due course.

Oh, and I was going to suggest Helloween never play I'm Alive as Hansen wrote it but it surprisingly didn't seem to bother Helloween last night, opening with Halloween and 3rd song March Of Time. Could be the range is too high for Deris though thought he did rather well on Kiske stuff this time.

Damnit, that was Empress? Man that sounded crap. I love that song on the album.

I had New World Order and Ride The Sky pencilled in. Cheers Dave.

Those are some of Johan's finest right there. I can't decide which ones to steal! ;)

I can't see "King for 1,000 Years" being done well as a live performance. Too long imo to be enjoyed in a live environment.

It was very good. Halloween is longer, and they opened with that!

Plenty of bands do long songs live. Fans always like them.

Is that your review? If so...

a) Only one song from No World Order was played, the title track.

b) Gamma Ray have been closing with the one-two punch of "Somewhere Out In Space" and "Send Me A Sign" since the Powerplant tour. (Which kind of makes me wonder how they got that combo to begin with.)

Yep, my mistake. Thought 'Fight' was on it, clearly not ;)

Did I comment on this? I can't remember and can't look while at work. My site's been blocked by the content filter ever since I mentioned Shagrath's name on the front-page :eyes:

Well you mentioned how people were "surprised" at how Somewhere was the final song of the main set, when they've been doing that since etc. etc.

Well, it's true, they were...

Don't forget Gamma Ray haven't played here for God knows how long.
