Game Informer says that it's pretty much the same game until the last 3 hours

I got Call Of Duty World At War for my birthday so I'm playing that.

Well the story certainly wasn't as good, not saying it was bad, but the first one just set the bar so high. the new main antagonist is just basically a collectivist version of andrew ryan and the gameplay was pretty repetitive. it had alot more action than the first game, but alot less plot too. the only people who i think would want to play this are those who were fans of the first one and want to further expand on rapture.

I got Guitar Hero: World Tour for $8 brand new. A pretty decent tracklist, a bit heavy on the classic rock though. The selection of heavy and metal songs was a little short, but good (Bullet For My Valentine notwithstanding).

Judging from the tracklist, Warriors of Rock is going to be the best one yet for metal fans. Anthrax, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Children of Bodom, and multiple Megadeth songs (including Holy Wars)? Yes please :horns:

In terms of hard rock and metal, definitely. I really dig the ones for Legends of Rock and World Tour, though. A good balance of different genres, especially when you factor in downloadable content. Legends of Rock loses points for being the last one (I think) to have cover versions, though.

I can understand that and they were both pretty cool overall I also really liked the list for GH 2. I believe Legends was the last major one to use covers. However, I think Rock's The 80's also had some covers but was overall a decent track list if you like the 80's.

Why the fuck is Get Up Stand Up here? I mean i love Bob Marley but...that's not even one of his guitar oriented songs. It doesn't even have a solo. At least put something like the live version of No Woman No Cry or Concrete Jungle.

Yes, that is rather strange I would rather have seen Stir it up, Iron Lion Zion, Redemption Song, I Shot The Sheriff, Buffalo Soldier, Three Little Birds, One Love/People Get Ready, Simmer Down, Trenchtown Rock, Burnin and Lootin, Roots/Rock/Reggae, etc. However, it's cool that he finally is on a music game.

First of all, nice Tom Servo avatar I'm a huge MST3K fan!

As for F3, it takes sometime to really hook you most people say about four hours. However, once it does say good bye to your social life. :D Did you guy the regular version or the GOTY one with the DLC?

Just bought this last week but have not played yet:

Only 43 bucks at Best Buy for game and two turntables, sadly no microphone somewhere Beck gently weeps.

Currently finishing this:

That was actually the best part of Fallout 3, imo. After you get strong and have awesome weapons, its really hard to die and the game becomes a "win" macine. Kind of boring. The challenge at the beginning felt real immersive for me, like I was struggling to survive at every corner and being outgunned at every fight.

Isn't it pretty much a Burnout game with the NFS logo slapped on it? At least that's the impression I got when I found out Criterion was developing it.

Isn't it pretty much a Burnout game with the NFS logo slapped on it? At least that's the impression I got when I found out Criterion was developing it.

It's the perfect marriage between old style Burnout and NFS. You gain turbo by racing at oncoming traffic, near misses and drifts but you also have weapons like spike strips, jammers, emp's and the ability to call in attack helicopters and road blocks as cops.

It's not as easy as Burnout because you can't "check" traffic and the weapons make it incredibly intense online. Single player is tough also. I got to level 11 as both Cop and Racer rather easily but to get to Level 20 is brutally hard from what I've seen. As soon as you have a racer close to being crashed he jams your radar and turns around or takes an off road path leaving you in no mans land.

I'd highly recommend it especially for the $34.99 price I got it from amazon for.

I'm also playing Titan's Quest which is a great Diablo clone.

A little bit of Counterstrike Source and TF2.

My new crack is Super Meat Boy for PC.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/27/Cboxsupermeatboy.jpg

It's a tough as nails platformer like some unholy combination of Super Mario Brothers and Mega Man. You will die a bunch but, will be hooked on trying to find all the bandaids and get the best times for each of the over 300 levels.

I beat it twice. I wouldn't say a completely different vibe but it is definetely more fast paced then the first one. I was dissapointed when I realized that the games is only about 8 hours long because I expected it to be way longer when I saw it was on 2 disc (it might only be on 1 for the ps3 version).

Final Fantasy 13 was on 3 disc, but that game actually takes 50 hours to beat. I think with DS 2 they just did it to eliminate loading screens. What they did with Isaac this time around was probably my favorite part of the game as well. I like how DS 2 is the only game where the protagonist is actually suffers from PTS after slaughtering hordes of aliens and nearly dying 100 times.

I agree 100% I am glad they expanded Issac from a faceless nobody in DS1 (still a great game of course) into a full on person with extreme problems; my favorite part (and not to give away anything) was his "return trip" that level was freaky as all hell

Did you play New Vegas before? if you're thinking of playing New Vegas at the same time as 3, don't. While there is no story-line relation, there is a huge game-play mechanic in NV that isn't in 3 that makes it much easier to play.

All except this are worth it. LA Noire is definitely only worth a rental, or buying in a few months when its cheaper. I'd go with paying off some of a pre-order for Arkam City or something.

It would be one of my favorites, but the triforce collection part is basically a grind that is dropped on you out of nowhere, and turns the game from probably my favorite non-OoT Zelda to possibly my least favorite (still decent) Zelda game that I've played.

Downloading new drivers for my computer, so I'll give a highlight of my campaign so far:

My Russian empire is expanding. We've reached the medieval age, and have a nice monopoly on silver and horses. I could use more luxury resources, though, since my people are on the verge of unhappiness.

Genghis Khan didn't go to war with me, and opted instead to wage battle with Elizabeth of England, to the north. I'm wary, though. It's only a matter of time before he turns on me. Elizabeth has been showing some contention, too. I'd rather remain neutral and rake up money from trading, if possible. I also learned the hard way that you can only build as many units that require a resource as the amount of resources you hold. AKA, if I have 3 deposits of iron, I can only build 3 swordsmen. Much more tactical than I anticipated...

I've been playing Mass Effect 2 for about a month now. Unfortunately I'm a PS3 owner so yes, I've never played ME1, and I really wish I had. I've been able to piece together most of the backstory from reading on the internet but I know that a lot of the dramatic effect of some scenes is lost to me.

Aside from that it's a great game. I'm enjoying it more than the other game Bioware put out last year (Dragon Age: Origins) because the interface and menus are a lot easier to navigate, and combat is better. The maps and areas are thankfully small but plentiful. Too many games put way too much space into areas that you'll never need to visit.

But I can't help but compare it to every other sci-fi game/TV series I've ever seen, especially Star Wars. From the whole extra-galactical race threatening to wipe out everything, to most of the alien races and even the whole BIOTIC thing (reminds me of the Force a lot of the time).

Even though it is a better game on most fronts I still like Knights of the Old Republic better on the sole reason that it's Star Wars. If Bioware ever makes a Star Wars game this calibur then it'll probably be my favorite game of all time.

I just got the first one, and I love it so far. Which suprises me a bit, seeing as I couldn't get into the other action RPGs I've tried (Bioshock and Fallout 3). Usually me playing those kinds of games goes like this:
Phase 1: "I have no idea what I'm doing or where I'm supposed to go next."
Phase 2: Need to go into area swarming with enemies; only have 2 pistol rounds. Spend hours trying to get weapons and ammo.
Phase 3: Finally move on, get slaughtered. Trade in at Gamestop.

If you're talking about Mass Effect, I'm not sure about the first one but the second has been painfully easy so far (35 hours in). And even still, with a lot of those games (Fallout 3 included) you can change the difficulty at any point in the game to easy and back to normal at no consiquence on the story, you may just miss getting a trophy or something.

Nah, those things I mentioned haven't been a problem so far in Mass Effect. It's been fairly easy so far on Normal difficulty. I just need to get the hang of managing my squad and I'll be good. Oh, that's my one complaint so far: giving orders in battle is a very hit-and-miss proposition. The squad AI isn't great. I wish it were a bit more intuitive, like in the Rainbow Six: Vegas games.

Yeah, I'm not much of a first person shooter player but I'd imagine that games like Rainbow Six and Call of Duty where combat is the focus do it a lot better.

On the topic of squad AI, so far it's been pretty good for me. There have only been two or three battles where my squad has disappeared on me and hung me out to dry. If anything, this game has been the opposite of most games I've played with squads. Especially later in the game but my teammates are taking care of every enemy before I can get two shots off. Granted I tend to use my sniper rifle most often, but an enemy can just appear on the battlefield and just as I'm getting them in my sites (which doesn't take too long) one of my squadmates, especially Katsumi, takes them out.

I wish Star Wars: Battlefront had AI like that. I can't remember how many battles I had come down to the wire then when I see the stats at the end I see that the other 20 guys in my squad took care of 5-15% of the enemies.

I just finished the DLC quest in Mass Effect 2 with Liara from the first game and it was a prime example of how stuff from the first game is completely lost to me. With the music I could tell that this was a special scene. Why they made the decision to only release 2 on PS3 is baffling. I read somewhere that the creators wanted to leave the first one as an XBox exclusive so owners of that system had something special to call their own, but that's gotta be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard in my life. Microsoft probably owns exclusive rights to the first game, they maybe never thought there'd be a sequel so only signed on for one, then when sequels came out there was nothing they could do.

Still, that mission was good and the end scene was pretty nice. The music was beautiful. Here's a link.

EDIT: Sept 12, 2011

Finished Mass Effect 2 last night. I was a little disappointed with the ending because the two characters I really wanted to carry over into ME3 died. I know I could start over and have a totally different outcome but that's the hand I was dealt so that's what I'm sticking with.

Overall, really good game, decent length (41 hours), a little on the easy side.

I did everyone's loyalty mission and the only person who's loyalty I didn't get was Jack. I didn't know that making an unloyal person make the biotic field in that one part of the last mission resulted in another character dying, which was how I lost Garrus. And I didn't know that people with low defense who weren't in your squad against the human reaper had a chance of not surviving the final firefight, which is how I lost Tali.

I also ended up losing Mordin and Jack, which was fine because they were probably my least favorite characters.

I played the first Deathspank game and I loved it, but about halfway through I encountered a glitch that prevented me from progressing any further. I went online to see if anyone else had the same problem, and a lot of people said they were experiencing similar glitches but nobody had the same one I did. I was so pissed. I swore I'd never buy another Deathspank game.

It was fun as hell while it lasted though. Are the other two games as good as the first? I might have a change of heart sometime in the future.

I managed to do all sidequests, including loyalty missions, before the 'Reaper IFF' mission, so instead of wasting time I went straight to saving my team and was able to save Kelly, some other girl got melted instead. That was one sorta walkthrough-ish thing I read, by accident more than anything.

I never had too much relationship-wise in the game, Kelly was the closest I got. Mordin once told me thanks but he wasn't interested, which was odd to say the least.

Mass Effect series are in my top 10 game series of all time. I got everyone to survive too! :D Fucking love that game.
Survival depends on several factors though, even though loyalty missions were the most important there are a few other important aspects.

Yea actually they all get better and add new stuff. Although I encountered a glitch twice for the second one at the end so it took me 3 playthroughs to get all the gamerscore on it lol.

Company of Heroes was on megasale this weekend on Steam so I got that because it seems like my type of game in every way and it's supposed to be quite good. Haven't had a chance to play it yet (I'm fucking up till 5 working and taking a break by posting on forums  ), but I'm pretty excited to give it a shot.

For cheap Achievement whores red box has games now of course. Rent Bodycount for an easy 600+ points for $1.50. You can probably get 900+ if you keep it a few days but I'm playing poker tomorrow night so I'll take the easy 600-700 and drop it off before I play.

Not a very good game but fun to keep the headshot streak going. The equivalent of spending a quality 6 quarters in an arcade game.

I used to put effort into achievements, but after three years I hit 20,000 gamerscore and now I don't care anymore.

And I know 20k isn't really a lot but I'm not very good at most games

Achievements are lame. Seriously. Dumbest thing to be added to gaming since online multiplayer.

That doesn't sound anti-social at all. hahaha. I prefer single player games but online multiplayer can be hella fun especially against friends. I had a blast playing MLB 2K11 against people.

I'm an achievement whore. I like how it adds clever tasks to games. It often adds replay value also. I like to rent games for an escape so having a few extra things to do after I beat the game is like watching deleted scenes and outtakes from a movie.

How can you not like "Can't Touch This" achievement on Dead Island. A tribute to MC Hammer if you get 15 straight kills with a hammer without taking any damage. Shit like that makes gaming way more fun to me.

Speaking of which I stumbled back into the Game Room on Xbox live. Seeing the Atari game Adventure made me smile ear to ear. Funny how something like that can unlock so many memories. I was always good at galaga but I was godlike at gyruss. had to purchase that one and Food Fight. Always loved that game. I'm a watermelon chuckin' fool! hahaha

it adds replay value to games people might otherwise never play again, but there are negative aspects to it as well.

They were made for the wrong generation of consoles. Right now, what sells is multiplayer, the biggest and most consistent selling games are the ones with the emphasis on multiplayer. As such, the single player campaign is suffering, and with that, most of the point in achievements as well.

Back on topic, finishing Lost Oddysey and Duke Nukem this week, then its onto Test Drive Unlimited 2 and Mass Effect!

Lately I've been playing Catherine a lot, really enjoying it. Before I started that I was playing Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire hours on end. A bit stuck on RDR, might trade it with my friend for the copy of LA Noire he took from me :hmm:
