Shit, I really want to do something like that. I actually emailed BrooklynVegan about an internship, but they never e-mailed me back. I suppose I probably should've said something other than "I'm wondering what internships are available this summer."

You might have better luck with the room-mate thing ;)

I get the feeling Brooklyn Vegan is really like one dude in his apartment or something. I had friends that would contribute photo galleries of shows and stuff, but I don't really think they got paid, it was just for the fun of it.

...what?

BV has a page about jobs and internships, so I gave it a shot. Going on the road with bands would be awesome, but I'm not a fan of writing album reviews or taking photos at shows.

Then why would you be talking to Brooklyn Vegan?

Going on the road is really something you only ever get to do if the bands know and trust you, it's not really something you can apply for. It's usually a pretty tough circle to get in, because of course everyone WANTS to do it

Good point  I'd rather enjoy the show, but if it meant having an awesome gig at BV I wouldn't mind taking photos for a couple songs.

I'll probably just give up on this idea then...

Haha your idea of what 'awesome gig' entails and the reality are probably two extremely different things

After this part, does my comment require any further explanation? I think you just answered your own question.

Pallbearer = Opener for Mournful Congregation in 2011, 3x @ SXSW 2012, in New Orleans with Agalloch last summer when I was on vacation, FunFunFun Fest 2012, 2 more @ SXSW 2013

Royal Thunder = once @ SXSW 2012, 3x @ SXSW 2013, opening for Dillinger Escape Plan

So, South By Southwest accounts for a bunch of these. Living is Austin has it's perks.

It just occurred to me quite randomly that I've seen Bruce Lamont three times - once as a solo act, once with Yakuza and once with Bloodiest. Don't know if that counts or not.

Come to think of it, I've also seen Erik Wunder twice - once with Man's Gin and once with Cobalt. That probably doesn't count, but both performances were incredible, so fuck it - I'm bringing it up.

Also saw Jackie Gratz twice - once with Grayceon and then twenty minutes later with Giant Squid. Ditto the above comments for that one, too. :rocker:

nonmetal bands: grateful dead around 40 shows and bob seger around 7

bands over 10 times -maiden , dio (RIP), rush,

bands between 5 and 10 times- slayer, megadeth, symphony x, kreator, testament, anthrax, motorhead, suicidal tendencies, ozzy/sabbath, judas priest, metallica, flotsam and jetsam, mastodon (at festivals, not headliners). there are probably a couple I am forgetting because they aren't my top bands but they play the festivals all of the time.

the list of bands between 2 and 5 times would be too many to list

Besides being old, I live in Phoenix (everybody stops here either before or after LA) and I often do the European festivals over the summer and you can see a ton of shows at a 3 or 4 day festival.

Probably some shitty band like Hatebreed because they're on practically every tour, three times a year, for the last 20+ years. And I want to add that I mean no disrespect towards Jasta or his band, because at least he is entertaining. They aren't my favorite band, but I've seen much much shitter opening acts.... Like Megadeth opened for Metallica a few years ago, and that was a pretty shitty opener. Luckily Megadeth didn't play long.
