This may slightly old news for some of you, but it was new to me today.

I know some of you will immediately laugh at the idea of Nightwish being threatening in some way. It goes much better on this one.

Nightwish's Tuomas Holopainen is a huge Disney freak. Does anyone recall the song Fantasmic off Wishmaster? For the not-so-Disney-inclined, Fantasmic is an incredible show at both Disneyland (rises out of the Rivers Of America near New Orleans Square and Frontierland) and Walt Disney World at Disney-MGM. The lyrics to the song are directly inspired by the Disney canon.

From Sing365 (http://www.sing365.com/music/Lyric.nsf/FantasMic-lyrics-Nightwish/177680A4CF6181D348256BB5000EE8AA)

Part 1

Wish upon a star
Take a step enter the land
Walk through the air
Take my hand
Wishmaster`s will-
Join him the quest for dream
A make-believe
Is all we ever need

Wish upon a star
No matter who you are
The second star to the right
Harbinger`s gate
Beyond the boundaries
Blossom ballet
In the great wide somewhere

Wish upon a star
Believe in will
The realm of the king of fantasy
The master of the tale-like lore
The way to kingdom I adore
Where the warrior`s heart is pure
Where the stories will come true

Part 2

A cub of the king betrayed by usurper
A girl in the rain swearing to her father`s name
Belle the last sight for the dying gruesome
The beauties sleeping awaiting
Deep in a dream
For true love`s first kiss

Part 3

Bald Mountain Night
Devilheart endures but light
A mad aerial dance
Chernabog`s succubi

Black Cauldron born
Gurgi`s heart forlorn
Pig-keeper or hero
On a quest of augury

Maleficent`s fury
The spindle so luring
Dragon fight, dying night
Dooming might

Apprentice of Yen Sid
Conducting the galaxy
Dreamer on mountaintop
Spellbound masquerade

The Sailor an idol for the six-year-old in me
The Phoenix of White Agony Creek
Enchantress, A mermaid in a tale as old as time
A Dragonslayer, The Awakener

Wish upon a star...

BTW, Static-X/Shadows Falls/3 Inches Of Blood just got booted too. Halloween is my birthday. I guess I won't be going to the parks that day as as planned. :finger2:

Seems like Disney is trying to redeem themselves for banning Machine Head.

You'd figure Disney would always book Nightwish on principle, with the Disney like feel to their music. This is some strange shit.

You would think. I thought for sure Nightwish would be allowed to play there. Someone at Disney didn't do their homework on this one.

Queensryche has a date at HoB Anaheim in February 2008. I wonder if that will happen or not. All the other ones (i.e. Suffocation, King Diamond) have been moved to the Galaxy. Haven't checked Orlando.

Disney doesn't care about the metal community but it does pay close attention to the Disney online community. There was some outrage expressed when Machine Head got cancelled, even by non-folks asking where exactly the line is. Kill Rap? Kill non-sappy C&W? The remnants of the Doors play there... given the history of those folks, why shouldn't they be banned too?

Who do you think Disney would unite with first: Soccer Moms or Metal Community?

 I missed this before.

I saw Nightwish last night... they were pretty good. Better then I expected. They seem to be really enjoying themselves.
