I've always thought Ozzy sucks. Solo and with Sabbath. The man can't sing and has a very annoying voice IMO. Every other Sabbath singer makes a mockery of him.

I couldn't disagree more. I'll take all other Sabbath albums over all with Ozzy. It's not just about the singer either. The music was far superior on those albums as well IMO. I've never been a fan of doomy riffs and such and I'd much rather listen to the straight-forward metal feel of the 80s Sabbath records.

The early Sabbath records hardly sound "doomy" to me, outside of a song or two. They are downright funky. That's what makes them so far superior to anything Sabbath did after.

Seriously? Listen again. The Wizard has one of the funkiest beats I've ever heard. War Pigs has killer grooves, and so does Hand of Doom, and so does Fairies Wear Boots. Or the chorus of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Hole in the Sky. The bass work in N.I.B. Sabra Cadabra. A National Acrobat has some incredibly funky parts. I mean, outside of maybe Iron Man and Sweet Leaf, I'd say it's endemic.

By that logic the entire Pantera catalog is "funky."

I see what you're saying but I wouldn't call it "funk." Also I'm sure there are one or two moments in the Dio catalog also has this "funk" you're speaking of.

I agree with what you're saying, and there is a huge difference between "funk", the genre of music, and "funky" which is just a feel, which the early sabbath albums do have on some songs
