Interesting pairing.

I was thinking about Coheed the other day. Not because I like them, but because I heard the band 3 for the first time. Similar knid of band, but much, much better.

I fucking love 3. Got into them a few months ago....The brother of one of the members in 3 is in Coheed, so....that is why they sound similar. When I bought Wake Pig, the sticker on the cover had praise from CAC...so..

How cool would it be if they tapped 3 as support..:bliss:

They've done that several times before, so it wouldn't be a huge leap of imagination.

Have you got 3's new album yet? It's only just come out over here, but I think it came out in the States at the same time as the Wake Pig reissue, around January.

It's a fucking masterpiece.

Ah, same week as here then. We got it Monday (although I've had it for a few weeks). Awesome record. Truly awesome.

Ahh....the former drummer in C&C is the brother of one of the Three members. Hmm....They have toured together on a handful of tours in past, and come within 30 minutes of where I live, so hopefully they jump on this tour too.

The more I think...I don't know if I like this tour. I just can't see it happening. I can't stand the guy from Coheed's voice and the more I compare it to Neil's it annoys me that they are more popular then C!

Do you not like Rush?

That dude doesn't sound that much like Geddy.

Moreso than any other singer.

Is this the de facto Coheed and Cambria thread now?

I love Coheed & Cambria, but they do aggravate me. Their last album is a ten song masterpiece trapped in the body of a 14 song meandering mess.

On one hand, I think they may be the contemporary rock band that has learned the most from Iron Maiden without sounding like Iron Maiden. On the other hand, their big overarching concept/narrative thing is -- as Nick has pointed out previously -- a bunch of bullshit.

But on the whole I can see (and/or fast forward) past most of their faults and enjoy them heartily.

I think they may be the contemporary rock band that has learned the most from Iron Maiden without sounding like Iron Maiden.Except for the times when they sound like Maiden ;)

I feel the same way about all of Coheed's albums: About half the songs are fucking amazing, and the other half are almost utterly forgettable. Although with their last album that ratio was more like one good song for every 4 boring ones.

They do have one other likable thing about them now; they just picked up Dillinger Escape Plan's drummer, who is AMAZING.

Okay, I'll give you 30 seconds of one song.

:hmm: No. At the very worst, it's 1:1, good songs to boring songs.

Three are a great band. Go listen to them. Buy Wake Pig. Any proggies here will like it.
