Chris Benoit and his family were found dead on Monday 25th of June, apparently victims of a murder-suicide.

I don't know what to say. Benoit was probably the finest technical wrestler of all time, and he leaves us like this. First Eddie Guerrero, now his best friend has been taken away.

Do not under any fucking circumstances turn this thread into a 'he was a murderer' thread. Innocent until proven guilty. The man gave his all in the ring every night, and had to overcome tremendous odds towards becoming a world champion.

Rest in Peace to the Crippler, the Rabid Wolverine. RIP Chris Benoit.

I thought wrestling was all pre-determined?

Benoit was always one of my favorites. He always put on a great show and was a great wrestler. This is very sad indeed. RIP.

Yes, but wrestlers who are selected to become champions often have to have certain qualities - size, charisma, microphone skills. Benoit was always undersized, had the charisma of a mango, and was literally scared of the microphone. But he busted his butt for 18 years, and on Wrestlemania XX, all the hard work he had invested paid off, as he won the World Heavyweight Championship.

Goddamn, what sent him over the edge?
I don't know.

Half of me wants to remember as a phenomenal athlete, who gave his all every night, and performed like mad for the fans. But the other half remembers him as a murderer, who killed his wife, and worse still, his 7 year old son.

RIP to the whole Benoit family. I hope you all find peace in a better place.

Goddamn, what sent him over the edge?

It's unknown what made him do it right now. Apparently, though, steroids are known to cause depression and anger, so they're going to look into that.

And as Angel said, I'll be remembering him as the great wrestler he was, but now this will always be there too.

I was watching the news and, later, the press release of this story IN the birthing room just as my aunt was going into labor. :D
