Hell yes. It's probably the best thing on TV right now. No surprise either, Discovery Channel has a lot of great shows to begin with. I love Myth Busters, Man vs. Wild, and Deadliest Catch too. History channel has a lot of great documentaries also.

A really great series, I can't imagine the countless hours it must have taken to get shots like those.

Absolutely amazing. Discovery has become probably my favorite channel now-a-days with shows like Planet Earth, Man vs Wild, Mythbusters, Cash Cab, and Dirty Jobs.

No denying that.

I dunno. I love 'em both, but comparing them is a bit unfair, considering the fact that they are polar opposites.

Let's see, Discovery has:
-Mythbusters
-Dirty Jobs
-Man vs. Wild
-Planet Earth

Comedy Central has:
-The Daily Show
-The Colbert Report
-South Park
-Reno 911!
-Various standup specials

I'd say they're about even, but Comedy Central is deducted -10,000 points for giving Carlos Mencia a show, so they lose.

Eh, I think Reno 911! is crap too. Not funny enough for me to sit through it. Carlos Mencia has some good stuff, but not great either. South Park and the stand ups are what makes Comedy Central for me.

Oh, duh: Chappelle's Show, anyone? Not to mention the MADTV reruns that fill my afternoons.

Back on Topic:

The high speed cameras and elapsed time sequences used in Planet Earth really captured some mind blowing stuff! I'll bet they spent a lot of $$$$$ making this series. I hear the DVD can be purchased for about $15. Worthwhile investment in my book!

Reno 911: :wtf:

South Park is kinda like Sepultura; after they stashed so many great riffs (potty mouth humor) into a masterpiece (Bigger, Longer, & Uncut), they fell off a cliff and died miserably.

Daily Show & Colbert Report: meh

Really, that channel lost everything after Chappelle Show stopped. DAMN YOU OPRAH!!

Seriously, how many racist jokes about black guys and mexicans do you have to hear before it gets boring.

Chappelle: im black. i do drugs. white ppl r lame.
Mencia: im mexican. mexicans are poor. home depot.

and south park, sorry but that show has become way too pretentious.

Well, racism and racial stereotypes still significantly affect people's experience, so they are fertile topics for comedy (along with other forms of discussion and art). The trick is offering some kind of new or surprising way of looking at them. Chapelle consistently did. Mencia never has. There's the difference.

Exactly. I mean, a black white supremisist who came into being because he was brought up at a school for blind children who's superiors thought it would be best if he was under the illusion that he was white?
