Well, no Heaven & Hell for me tonight after all. My friend who was gonna come bailed on me, and by the time I found out he couldn't make it was already 6 PM and the venue is over an hour drive away, so in all likelihood I would've missed Queensryche altogether. Plus having to deal with Alice Cooper and getting a short Heaven & Hell set just to come home at 1 in the morning and have to get up for school at 6, not worth it. Oh well.

Sonata Arctica and Firewind were awesome last night in NYC! Really great show. Afterwards when we were leaving we saw Gus G. from Firewind outside getting a hot dog from a street vendor so we talked with him for a little. It was pretty cool. Anyways....Van Halen tonight!!!!

3/14/08 - Iron Maiden @ Izod Arena
4/6/08 - Symphony X @ The Trocadero

sadly that's it as of now. I'm definately gonna make that WASP tour, but I'm not sure on the exact date or location yet. I was going to roadtrip to Jaxx for the Circle II Circle tour, but the whole thing went down the toilet.
Primal Fear has been rumored to tour the states in the spring for months now, but absolutely no dates have surfaced thus far. :(
Iron Savior just confirmed a show @ BB Kings in NYC for Sept. 20th, 2008, so I presume my friend and I will be going to that.

Yeah, those are the main four bands I'm going to see. Andromeda and Serenity are also playing, who are both pretty cool.

Not too interested in Diablo Swing Orchestra, Thy Majestie or Power Quest. Thunderstone and Voyager will be OK. To-Mera are doing an acoustic set, and there'll be at least one other short acoustic set, but I'm not at liberty to divulge the band that's been approached... :)

Righteous. You might get lucky and have them play for like 5 hours as they did in one show in Israel, apparently if they are really feelin it or vibing or whatever hippie weirdo tripped-out shit you wanna call it they just play until the house cuts the power and turns the lights on, and sometimes even after that.

Rise Of The Tyrant is still better than Anthems Of Rebellion, I think. But, as good as AE once were, DT have also put out some melodic death metal classics, and have at least continued to deliver with about 10 times more consistency than AE. :D

Just got my Maiden tickets for June. At MSG I got floor but I could have swore that it said GA Pit when I was getting them but then on my reciept it said Floor seating. Whatever I am not gonna complain. They are pretty good seats on the floor nevertheless. At PNC I got right orchestra about 16 rows up from the stage.
I pretty happy and cant wait until June but jesus, ticketmaster rapes you so bad! Especially at PNC, which is a 'LiveNation' venue. The MSG tickets were more expensive at $75 but then had a $10 convenience charge and then with other pointless fees the 2 tickets came out to almost $175. Now the PNC tickets were $70 up front (cheaper than MSG) and then added on $13 convenience fee and a $6 venue charge, both per ticket. So in the end the PNC tickets (for 2) came to about $182 when they are originally cheaper than the MSG tickets....bullshit.
Anyways...upcoming shows for this year...

Problem:
The Symphony X show in Chicago is on my wife's birthday. And they aren't playing anywhere else close. And I really want to see this tour.

Solution:
Plan the family trip to Florida to coincide with when Symphony X is going to be in Florida. :D

So.... who has been to the State Theater in St. Petersburg and what's it like?

I'll be there! I've been to the state theater tons of times...Not the nicest place, but by no means is it in the slums. It's in the middle of downtown St. Petersburg, pretty good sized, one of the bigger venues around here. Don't allow smoking inside, but there is a bar inside. There is an upper level with seats as well, if you don't feel like being on the floor.

Cool! Thanks for the info. This all just fell into place in the last couple of days. I plan on getting there early. Do you know what time the doors open? The TicketMaster website has conflicting info. I was late getting to the Chicago show last year so I was pretty far back in the crowd. The venue looks cool from the website and it looks like it should be easy to get to.

Well, the wife would have killed me if I tried to go to a concert on her birthday. However, she loves going to Florida so it's a win-win situation. She gets a trip to the beach and I get to see the show that I was going to miss. Sometimes you just have to be a little bit creative.

The email confirmation that I got from TicketMaster just says 7pm, so I thought that was the show time. The show will probably start at 8pm then. How is parking? Does the venue have a parking lot?

The venue is right in the middle of downtown St. Petersburg, so there is paralell parking all up and down the streets. If you get early enough, you can grab a spot right in front of the venue, but if not, there's plenty of parking lots and a parking garage.

If that does come about sometime after H&H finish their album (and Motorhead theirs), to not take a bill like that Worldwide would be the dumbest decision any promoter could make.

I agree, that would be a strange call to only do it in the US. Maybe they'll have some variation of the tour in Europe and change out one or two of the bands or something.

I see potential here.

It's becoming apparent to me that JOP/CIIC may not announce more dates, and I am desperate to see that tour at all costs.
I plan on ging to Nightwish and Sonata, but have no attachment to the date here.
And If fly down for JOP/CIIC, I have to miss the Helloween/Gamma Ray show up here.

What would you say t me flying down on like 9/19 and spending a full week down there?

I probably won't go to all these shows, but they're what's coming up on my last.fm:

May 21 - Drawn and Quartered, Saetith, Host of Satan, Frailty Of The Flesh (Probably won't get to go because the place this is at is usually 21+ )

June 6 - Wakarusa Day 1 incl. The Flaming Lips, Cake, Del The Funkee Homosapien, Arrested Development, and more. (Probably about a 75% chance of going to this.)

June 7 - Wakarusa Day 2 incl. Ben Folds, STS9 (Probably about a 30% chance of going to this, I'm hoping Ben plays somewhere else in town.)

June 9 - Mindless Self Indulgence, The Birthday Massacre, Tub Ring (I won't go to this.)

June 12 - Hatebreed, Type O Negative, 3 Inches Of Blood (About 50%. I'd go for Type O and 3IOB.)

June 15 - Dethklok, Chimaira, Soilent Green (I might be out of town when this happens, but I'd like to go.)

June 16 - Brody's Militia (Dunno. Maybe.)

June 25 - Wolf Eyes OR Lair Of The Minotaur (I'd rather go see LOTM, but the place is usually 21+)

July 2 - Warped Tour (lol no)

July 9 - Coldplay (Fuck off :finger2:)

July 22 - Rockstar Mayhem (Extremely Unlikely)

July 23 - Boris, Torche, Lair Of The Minotaur (Got my ticket. )

August 8 - Kansas City Power Metal Festival (They better make it not 21+!)

September 12 - Alice Cooper (I would really like to go to this. 60%)

September 15 - Impaled, Phobia, Kill The Client, Illogicist, Maruta (90%)

October 1 - Obituary, Unleashed, Carnifex (100 fucking percent! :rocker: )
