Did you see how many openers are listed on that Sepultura show now? There are 3 openers before the 4 main bands on the tour. :hecho: I was going to skip that show and just catch the Death Angel headlining show in St. Louis, but the St. Louis show just got canceled. Now I am back on the fence with that Sepultura show. Hard to say how late that show might go.

Damn, I knew Pig Champion were on there like right after the tour got announced but I didn't know that 2 others (never heard of them either) are on there. If I do go I'd like to show up just in time for Krisiun. And it'll probably go til midnight but start pretty early.

The site lists the start time as 6pm. Can't imagine that they could squeeze 7 bands into 6 hours. I would have thought that Death Angel and Sepultura would get at least 80 minutes each? Maybe not...

Actually, you may be right. For some reason I thought this was a co-headline tour, but the poster says "with special guest Death Angel." Now I am really bummed that the St. Louis Death Angel show was canceled. :hmm:

How often does Death Angel tour in your area? If its not an often occurrence, then go for the Sepultura show. They have been playing almost every other month out here for the last year or so.

I've been to Mojoe's at least like 6 or 7 times and I've never seen a show go past midnight, so I can't imagine that it will.

Not sure if I can make it to Sepultura or Origin, but the next show I'm going to for sure is Autopsy.

Thanks for the info. I have not been to Mojoe's yet.

And to add to my confusion, the Death Angel site now lists the St. Louis show on May 2nd at Pop's instead of Fubar. This would be awesome. However, the Pop's site lists Volbeat playing on May 2nd. So, I am

You should still go(IF you enjoy Sepultura). Sepultura put on an amazing show, and Death Angel is great too, but they don't match the intensity that Sepultura brings to the table. I'm not just saying that because I'm a sepultura fanboy. I saw Death Angel last year do a headline show at a small tiny little box of a venue which only holds about 200 people, Great show, loads of fun, but their intensity doesn't match the heavy riffs blasting out of Andreas Kissers guitar. The tone of his guitar just sounds brutal during the older stuff like Schizophrenia. I would still go if I were you.. Death Angel will put on a good 40 minute set and Sepultura will kick you in the testicles with their awesome live performances of both old timeless classics and shitty new stuff which will probably have you rolling your eyes in the back of your head....Only to get you back into action with the old stuff. :rocker:

YOU SHOULD STILL GO :hmm:

Are you going to Crowbar on Wednesday?

Nah, I would love too but I don't like making too many round trips to LA. I'm already going to LA for a hip hop show this coming friday. The way back home is usually a major headache as most of the freeways are closed due to construction which causes me to exit and spends a good 20 minutes going on a detour, only to finally get on the freeway and hit another "end of the line" construction zone going on...causing me to exit again and find another detour...only to drive around in a circle and get lost from trying to find the 2nd detour.....only to eventually ask abunch of people at random gas stations the TRUE way to getting back home. Sadly this happens almost every fucking time I go to LA, whether its in hollywood blv, sunset blvd, glendale act, you name it. For the Mpire of Evil show I left the gig at around 1 in the morning and didn't get home till 3:30ish. And then i got one hour of sleep before getting ready to go to work. I forgot to mention that I usually wake up every day at 5 in the morning and leave by 6 to get to work. Today was the first time I left after 6 in the morning and I got my ass torn apart for it. :hecho:

I really hope you have a great time dude, and be sure to leave a review! We will eventually meet again one day Chris. ;)

Edit: The only time I made TWO straight trips to LA and back was in 2009 when I saw Kreator/Exodus/warbringer on saturday, and then on the very next day I drove back to LA to see Napalm Death(ahahaha actually my friend drove for that one BUT it was still pretty tiring). Very tiring on the mind, body and Sooouuuuuuull. Probably won't ever do anything like that again. The drive to LA is always smooth sailing. IT'S GETTING BACK HOME which is a pain in the arse!!!

Pathology isn't that great live. I was really excited to see them with Grave, but they kind of disappointed me. Then again, they had a fill in vocalist, so I don't know if Jonathan Huber sounds better live. But they didn't play a single song from their first two albums (my favorites). The set was all songs from the latest two albums plus one from Age of Onset. :(

I guess I'll rank the top 10 bands I've seen live so far this year.

1. Lock Up
2. D.R.I.

4. Mpire of Evil
5. Sanctuary
6. Arkona
7. Ghoul
8. Nile
9. Hour of Penance

1. Wino & Conny Ochs
2. Rammstein
3. Anthrax
4. Rich Robinson
5. Pain of Salvation
6. Gilby Clarke
7. UFO
8. Danny Bowes & Ben Matthews
9. Richie Kotzen
10. Wolf People

Although admittedly the only people I've seen this year so far that aren't on this list are A Pale Horse Named Death, Marcus Bonfanti, Guns 2 Roses, Diamond Plate, Cryptex, Diagonal, Badmouth, Kinkade, Blood Runs Deep, and Obsessive Compulsive, most of which were just dodgy support bands for ones who did make the list.

If I repeat this exercise once a quarter, then I'm pretty sure Paradise Lost, Primordial, Katatonia, Judas Priest, Guns N' Roses, Saint Vitus, Chris Cornell, Godsmack, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Soundgarden, Mastodon, Bad Company, Sebastian Bach, Pentagram, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hell and King Fucking Diamond will all be in with a shout of cracking that top ten come the end of June.

1. Morbid Saint

I sort of reconcile those two by saying that they are two of the most awesomest shows I've ever seen.

I have MDF on 5/24-27, with a few of you guys all here, so I hope I get to see all of you guys. Also, depending on if I go to London in June/July, I could also zoom up to New York and go to the Death to All show and the Iron Maiden show in Newark, but those are both up in the air. Man, I haven't been able to do shit this year. Pull a bad semester at school can really set you back. I think that my GPA this semester can really pull me back together though, and thank jesus. I've only been to two.

1. Morbid Saint
2. Sleepmakeswaves

I never thought I'd see the day that Iron Maiden might have to be skipped for me.

What about the Maiden show in Manassas? it's on a weekend.

Played a show last night at this really small bar in Ballard, WA called "The 2 Bit Saloon". I was not looking forward to playing this show as the stage is very small and the show started super late, but it ended up being extremely fun!

My side band, Divinorum, debuted two new songs which were received greatly, as well as our new cover of "Troops of Doom" by Sepultura. Our friend video taped us, so hopefully those turned out good.

Wooh. Okay. I found out the other day that Defeater and Code Orange Kids are playing at Treasure Town, a small kind of DIY venue here in Chicago, on Sunday. The day after The Rumble. I really wanna see both Defeater and Code Orange, but 20+ hardcore bands in the two days before that might take its physical toll on me...

Astral Festival this weekend. If These Trees Could Talk cancelled a month back due to Visa issues, and Toundra cancelled yesterday, so Saturday will suck.

Saturday: Exxasens (Spain) / Tides From Nebula (Poland) / Powder! Go Away (Russia) / I am waiting for you last summer (Russia)
Sunday: The American Dollar (USA) / PG.LOST (Sweden) / Moonlit Sailor (Sweden) / Mooncake (Russia)

Wish I could skip Saturday since I've seen every band on the line-up except Tides From Nebula, but it'd be a waste of my weekend ticket and I don't see how I could 'sell' it since I'm only planning on missing day one.

So I'll post the thread for all the setlists from this weekend's Astral Festival (nothing from PG.LOST and Exxasens since I didn't watch them, sorry) but I do want to mention a cool thing that happened tonight... after American Dollar finished their set, my friend and I walked outside of the venue to catch a break before beginning our search for the guys from TAD as well as the other bands that played today. After standing around a bit, he brought someone over to introduce me to, a guy named Troy Tipton who was from California too. He and I talked for some time, and in the conversation he mentioned a band he was from that he'd send me once I'd find him on Facebook. Turns out he's the ex-bassist for Zero Hour and current bassist for Abnormal Thought Patterns, two sick prog metal bands that kick ass. Anybody into Jeff Loomis' solo stuff should check out the latter band, but really anybody into prog metal in general should definitely check both out. Really cool to meet someone like that in Russia of all places :rocker:

Naw man, they played there for Record Store day, in the record store for about 30 minutes or so. Was there with Daimonos. The singer was piss drunk, and kept running into the crowd, trying to knock people down, and would hug/jump on people randomly, trying to kiss random women. He was climbing on top of the record shelves, jumping into the crowd and making people kind of crowdsurf him around the store. The he climbed up on the counter where people check out their orders and kind of just stood there for a while screaming. And the people running the record store were so passive, just kind of getting out of his way like it was a completely normal thing for a man to run riot in the middle of the store. Nothing was broken, but many things came close.
