So I'm going to troll you guys here.

Sodom is playing an hour away from me (and the train ride there would be free) in December and Morbid Angel is playing like 2 hours away from me in November or something. But I'm not gonna go to either.:D

I feel like I should go see Sodom because they never tour the US and I do like M-16 but I doubt I will. I'd gladly trade you guys an Anthrax / Testament show or a Mastodon show for one of these. If only it worked that way.

Agreed on all points. I'd rather Anthrax/Testament or Mastodon than Sodom as well.

See they come to Chicago and do shows at The Cubby Bear almost every three months but they are all 21+.

That sucks. They play a weekly show in Hollywood. If I lived closer to Hollywood, I probably would see them more than once every three to four months.

See my cousin who got me into them and knows the guys from seeing them so many times sees every chicago show, travels to vegas every few months and sees them like 5 times per trip, and use to live in vegas and over the year he lived there he saw he'd see them twice a week for a year.

Replace Have Heart with Touche Amore, because Have Heart was actually a good hardcore band before their last album. Can't find an album version of this song on Youtube, but I can tell you this does not look like a Defeater crowd. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lClI5XvSw3k

Ah, I gotcha. I've always associated Have Heart with that crowd due to their lyrical themes and whatnot, but musically they're way more into that traditional hardcore sound. I definitely listen to way more of them than I do Defeater/Touche Amore.

Yeah, Have Heart just happened to be a big inspiration for that sort of stuff, so they tend to get lumped into it.

Have they really never toured the US? I thought their US tours were just few and far between. May have to think about it more and see a setlist before the gig to make a final choice. It's not till December though. Plus the venue website doesn't work anymore so that's kind of a turnoff when considering whether or not to travel to a new city in a foreign country. Don't wanna end up in some scary shithole.

I'm almost positive that they haven't, and if they did, it was probably like a 10 day run back in the late 80s/early 90s which more than likely got cut off because of some stupid shit. They drop everything they plan to do, especially with the U.S. They were gonna play 3 shows last year but they ended up dropping those.

I'm thinking that instead of going to Gwar on sunday i'll go to Skeletonwitch/Kvelterak. If I went to Gwar i'd have to miss, or show up late to school the next day plus it would be annoying for who ever has to pick me up from the train station at 2 am on a work night. I'm also not very optimistic that the set will be very good. Kvelterak is cheaper and on a friday night so it's way more convenient.

Well, Bane is pretty melodic hardcore, so I don't really have this love for them that's greater than TA. Who is great also; I like Ikeacore.

But I'll admit; I'm biased: there is not one single Hardcore band that I've found and listened to and enjoyed half as much as I do Terror. My last.fm scrobbles are disgusting; don't look.

Went to the AP 2012 Tour w/ Four Years Strong, Gallows, and Title Fight.

I can't provide setlists because I'm not familiar with any of these bands, only went cause friends went. But all 3 put on a great show. The first band I saw, Swellers was just standard punk. Then Title Fight was awesome. Gallows was even better. Four Year Strong was the best.

Crowd was much younger than what I am use to. Anyone over 25 stood out like a sore thumb. Also no beer in sight. I felt like a boss with my cup of ginger ale . Also one thing I've never witnessed in a venue is that instead of catching crowd surfers, the guards push them back into the crowd. Some people looked like they fell hard because of it, kinda messed up.

Yeah, sadly, that's how it is now. Venues know that they'll make a few more bucks because so many people buy tickets online. Luckily up here it's only $3 for the non TicketRaper shows, but the same principle applies.

Probably too expensive to bring the entire production into the city. Paul O'Neill is all about maximizing profits anymore. If you've ever seen TSO before, I wouldn't be upset - the show is either exactly the same every year, or gets progressively worse. I probably wouldn't even see TSO if someone gave me a free ticket at this point, and I actually legitimately like most of their albums.

Yeah, I do get the feeling I will be experiencing that a lot starting next year. Luckily I wasn't too much into them, so it's not a big loss like if it was Devin Townsend or Dream Theater or Opeth.

I still get to interview Fair To Midland and Dead Letter Circus in December, that wins for me.

Melt-Banana was amazing. The venue was the coolest I've been to. It was just a house and it had all these retro gadgets all over the place, I started playing the X-Men arcade game when Tera Melos was playing because they were awful . The stage was just a foot off the floor so everyone went completely nuts and the sound system was probably the best I have heard. Even when MxBx just played some heavy feedback it sounded perfect.

Also I love how respectable the crowd was. No beer/drugs allowed at the venue (did not smell any weed at all anywhere near the venue). Yet everyone went completely nuts and had a great time...... sober .

Just came back from a local metal show. It's actually this thing called Mind Over Metal Mondays, where local metal bands from Burlington play at this cool bar called Nectar's. I went to the first one when I got here, but I haven't been to any since because the bands aren't THAT good and it's on a Monday night. I decided to go tonight, though, because if you wear a costume you get in for free.

At first the bouncer and I had a misunderstanding, the show was 21+, but the promoter who I sorta know in person told me himself that it was 18+, so the bouncer let me in. I was definitely the only one with x's on my hands, though.

Anyways...I pregamed this shit :D I feel that being drunk doesn't actually make the music sound better (unlike being high -- weed just makes every single sensory perception that much more dynamic), it just puts me in a state of mind where I'm not paying attention to and analyzing the quality of the music because I'm having so much fucking fun. I was bouncing and running in place and screaming and just in general acting like a retard. It's funny because the first band I did this to, Nefarious Frenzy, I don't even like. They were on the first Metal Monday and I thought they were quite mediocre. But tonight I thought they were amazing (again, probably too drunk ). Second band I'd never heard before. Boil The Whore. I was too drunk to notice the style of music they were playing:lol: but it kinda sounded like blackened death metal with a LOT of breakdowns. But the breakdowns were so fucking awesome while intoxicated:lol: I was moshing so fucking hard (probably more uncoordinated than usual, too) -- but little did I realize that so much physical activity while drunk was a horrible idea:lol: I didn't throw up, but it certainly felt like I was going to. I would get a pretty bad headache, stand to the side for a minute, then start shoving people again:lol: Finally I was so fucking hot and tired that I went to the back and got water. Over the course of 15 min or so I had four cups of water, but then I realized I was too tired and I didn't want to be hungover in the morning so I left early and headed back. I think I made a responsible decision.

Apparently last night their set was way shorter because of a tight curfew. Tonight's is easily too, so hoping they're going to start at a sensible time to fit everything in.

I wish you the best of set lists, brother. Looking forward to see what you get.

Tides From Nebula's Earthshine is the third best post-rock release of 2011. The best song on it is Caravans.

I liked Moonlit Sailor's debut more than Colors in Stereo, but technically speaking Colors in Stereo is probably better. I'd check out both their albums if I were you. Extremely well written, rich, grandiose post-rock. But I don't find it overly emotional.

Check out (II) by Toundra. Pretty diverse as far as sound goes. It's post-rocky and sludgy. Magreb, Koschei, and Byzantium are the best songs there. I haven't heard their self-titled.

Why you no come to Russian Circles in Pittsburgh? :(I was originally planning to do just that (Moobs and I were gonna hit the casino afterward, too) - but I found out my wife is working that night and not Friday 11/18 as per her original schedule. That means the PA date is out and the local show (with the bonus addition of the awesome If These Trees Could Talk, I might add) is in.

I was really looking forward to the Shittsburgh date, though, to be honest. Oh well. There'll be other opportunities.

Went to Steven Wilson in NYC on Friday, first time traveling from CT to NYC by myself so that was a pretty cool little adventure and I will probably travel to more shows in the city now. The show was great.

My school radio station's music reviewing club WQAQ also booked a show last night which had Laura Stevenson and the Cans, Great Caesar, High Pop, and Connor and The Stone Hill Kids. All the bands were surprisingly good live performers. Especially Great Caesar who is a local band which also has QU students, they were rock with a whole brass section. Wouldn't surprise if they get big over the years. Another highlight was the drummer from Connor and The Stone Hill Kids, that dude stole the spotlight. He was an insane drummer and even broke out into a Biggie Smalls rap/drum solo. Was sick.
