:lol: I think what he's getting at is that there are reviews of the shows he goes to on the site that he runs. However, I'm not sure if he writes reviews for every single show he attends or not.

Yeah, I should do something radical like put the link in my signature or something. Or post regular updates on Facebook or BlogSpot.

WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS SOONER?!

:tp: I mean the link to the actual review. If you want people to read your review, you cant expect them to know that it's in one of the links in your sig.

:tp: I mean the link to the actual review. If you want people to read your review, you cant expect them to know that it's in one of the links in your sig.

That's what I mean by laziness. The site is there, it's always been there, and most people know what it is and to look there for my stuff.

Which is why there are no threads by me in the reviews forum, etc. Every review is linked on the Facebook profile, which most regulars here are friends with, so I see no reason to duplicate effort just because people can't be bothered to look.

If you want to follow what gets posted, friend/like on Facebook, follow on Twitter, follow on BlogSpot if you have a Google account, or get the RSS feed from BlogSpot. The facilities to keep up are all there if you want to use them.

Besides which, I think we all know how annoying whoring your website in every post you make can be... :eyes:

Swapped a friday for saturday shift at work so I can see Torche/Big Business. I feel like the only other shows I've seen this year were Queens back in April and SOAD in May, which I showed up late to because of my last fucking job. So I'm stoked.

Helms Alee is leaving right around today, Thrones is opening the rest of your dates. And I just got your message, I have another friend in town coincidentally on the same days you're gonna be here, but I'll see what I can do. Here's (http://www.foopee.com/punk/the-list/by-date.2.html) a schedule of shows that week, notably Pentagram and Pelican Tuesday, Diamond Head Wednesday and Wooden Shjips Thursday all in SF.

Also, I'm seeing Kylesa is booked in SF on Sept. 14, I could've swore I saw something that said they weren't touring again til 2012

And I just got your message, I have another friend in town coincidentally on the same days you're gonna be here, but I'll see what I can do.I'm gonna probably hit up that Pelican show on Tuesday, although I just got invited to a free dinner at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga (a bus trip thingy for the confernece I'm attending), and I hear it's nice. I've seen Pelican a bunch of times, and I'm not that familiar with Pentagram, but I might still make the call on the side of metal just because. Pelican fucking rocks live.

Here's (http://www.foopee.com/punk/the-list/by-date.2.html) a schedule of shows that weekThat's EXACTLY what I needed. Thanks a ton. I wish to hell we had something like this in Northeast Ohio.

Diamond Head WednesdayWine mentioned that show to me, but Slough Feg aren't really my thing, and neither is Diamond Head if I'm totally honest. Who knows, though. I might be just bored enough to head out that night, depending on when my flight outta dodge is scheduled.

Also, I'm seeing Kylesa is booked in SF on Sept. 14, I could've swore I saw something that said they weren't touring again til 2012Yeah, I was under the same impression. It looks like it might be an off-date for their gig at Musicfest NW 2011 (just a guess). Apparently they're also playing a gig in San Diego in November with Thrice and Moving Mountains...?

Unearth = near perfection live. Got a physical setlist, too. Review will be up tomorrow.

Disappointment of the night: Suicide Silence. Eh. Details will follow.

Surprise of the night: Red Fang. Very good live.

I also don't see where this "All Shall Perish sucks live" hate is coming from.

Exhumed was brutal! Fucking loved it.

Have a physical Exhumed setlist in my possession, signed by Brian from Cephalic Carnage and that crazy singer from Macabre.

Review/set up later, but I'll just let it slip that Impaled's singer and Mike from the original lineup joined them for their last song :fist:

The Mountain Winery is really nice, I don't know why they would bring you over there unless there was a show or something going on.

Also, here are the Kylesa dates that just got released:
September
02 West Hollywood CA @ Troubadour w/Intronaut :rocker:

09 Seattle WA @ Highline w/Black Cobra
10 Bellingham WA @ Shakedown

I'd really like to see them again but it's in the middle of the week in the city, so we'll see.

DevilDriver w/ Skeletonwitch on Sept. 18th is the only one that I'm for sure attending so far, but the following ones are definite possibilities...

Aug. 8th - Amon Amarth
Aug. 29th - Godsmack (yeah, very out of place on this list, I know)
Oct. 6th - Enslaved w/ Ghost, Alcest
Oct. 9th - Katatonia headlining show
Oct. 10th or 11th - Opeth/Katatonia - will either be attending one of the Opeth shows or the Katatonia headlining show, or possibly both, but I'm not sure yet. These are all out of town so I'm still in the process of planning out a roadtrip (or two) with my fellow Opeth and Katatonia loving friends.
Dec. 3rd - Between the Buried and Me w/ Animals as Leaders, TesseracT

The Mountain Winery is really nice, I don't know why they would bring you over there unless there was a show or something going on.You would think, but then again how would they know what kind of music people like? I could see if it was an orchestra performing or something artsy like that, but it doesn't look like there's anything scheduled that night. Lewis Black is supposedly doing a show the Friday afterward, though - too bad I won't be in town for that. ;)

Oh, and I checked and the fucking Giants are in Atlanta all that week. Shitballs. I've not been in any West Coast stadiums yet - any time I'm in that neck of the woods, the home teams are always out of town. The furthest west I've been is the "BOB" in Phoenix, which sucked. It was like watching a game in an airplane hangar - fuck that.

EDIT: I don't suppose the O.co Coliseum is anything special? The A's are playing the O's on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Yeah if you've ever been to a shitty 60's/70's built concrete sports stadium, you've been to the Oakland Coliseum, or whatever they call it these days.
Ticket prices are grossly inflated for Giants games right now, but it's too bad you can't go to a game. I haven't seen anywhere else outside of Oakland and Candlestick (where the Giants used to and 49ers still play :leak:) but it's hard to imagine anywhere better to see a game other than Fenway or Wrigley.

I know. What do you do, anyway? You travel a fuck load for work.I'm an engineer (not the kind that drives trains ;)). I've been traveling more lately than I usually do, but the fact the I've been so many places has more to do with the fact that I've been working in this field for almost twenty years more than it has to do with having to travel all that frequently.

I also get around the Midwest a lot because Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania are all within driving distance, and my wife is from the Chicagoland area, so we go back there to see her family now and then.

EDIT: In other news one of my favorite bands Shpongle finally decides to play a live set in NYC, they play all the time but it's always DJ sets. The problem is that they actually put it on the day when something way more fun is going on - Melt-Banana in CT. Both would be incredibly fun gigs and both bands make some of the most amazing music ever but I'm heavily leaning toward Melt-Banana.

Power of the Riff tomorrow!!! Can't wait to see Eyehategod for the third time. I'm looking forward to seeing Baptists, Alpinist, Maskari, Black Breath, Trap Them, All Pigs Must Die and Black Cobra. I don't really care too much about Pentagram cause I haven't listened to them in a few years and have seen them before. I know they'll be fucking awesome, but more excited about the other bands. I think the biggest highlight will be Winter. I always dug Servants of the Warsmen, but never listened to them beyond that. Ok, just listened to a bunch from The Profit Feeds. Very, very, very good stuff! Right up my alley! I can see similarities to All Pigs Must Die and Trap Them, but it's definitely different than those two. I need to listen way more, but I don't know if they kick Trap Them's ass in my opinion. Possibly going to Marnie Stern in CT on 9/21. She is cute as hell but I thought her music wouldn't be great so I never checked it out. I am listening to her s/t from last year and it's great. It's like garage rock with this weird psychedelic/technical vibe, or math rock like last.fm tags it. But unlike wanky math rock this is really lively. The drummer steals the show though, he's awesome.

In all honesty, their live show had declined progressively every time I saw them.

First time: with Atheist, SO much energy on stage, everyone was headbanging/moving, even the people that weren't fans

Second time: Headlining, the guitarists looked like they really didn't want to be there but they all still put on a crazy show

Third time: Summer Slaughter 2010, new bassist and everything sounded good but the set list wasn't very good compared to the last 2 times I had seen them. Still some energy on stage but not as much compared to the first show

Fourth time: With Suffocation, and it was boring as hell. The singer REALLY didn't look like he was into it at all, as with the rest of the band.

A new singer hopefully means new burst of energy for the band, and new music means a burst of energy for the fans. Hopefully their next album supporting tour will be sick.

But in all honesty, I don't really give a shit if they're "boring" live. I kinda compare it to Dying Fetus; boring as fuck to look at but the music is so damn good you don't even notice.

I saw them on this tour, and I love the music so much that I was still able to enjoy their performance a lot. But you're right, their stage presence was pretty poor, and that can go a long way. It'll be interesting to see what kind of energy the new vocalist brings to the table when I see them this Thursday.

Chances are, it was right around the scheduled 45 minutes, though. Eight minutes per song on the average sounds about right. Sometimes they close their set with something epic like "The Woods", which I've seen them stretch out to around 15 minutes for just that one song...

EDIT: Definitely not going to the Doom Over London Festival. I REALLY want a good doom metal festival in London, but for some reason they've booked almost exclusive death/doom bands instead of proper doom bands (of which England alone has more than enough for an all-dayer these days).

At the London show Damian hugged everyone near the front afterward and thanked them individually for coming out and helping sing and moshing, so your chances seem good. He's really an incredible guy.

I'm just sick of seeing that fat sweaty guy every couple of posts on BV. It doesn't even look enjoyable, just disgusting.

I haven't actually listened to the album yet

Well, if I had to pick the top five shows I'm stoked for more than any others, it'd be

1. A Day To Remember
2. BTBAM/AAL
3. Fucked Up
4. Deftones
5. COB

I'm not too sure I'm going to Judas Priest any more. Lawn is $83 and the section above that is something like $123. It's fucking crazy.
