Yesterday was actually the first time I asked a security guard to pull me out of a crowd. At the moment it seemed highly necessary. I'd been tolerating crowdsurfers all weekend, but when Corey Taylor began Before I Forget with "I want to see every motherfucker in this crowd crowdsurfing, whether they like it or not", I knew I was fucked.

In Moscow, Slipknot are performing at a stadium. No way will security just let them out the side, those fuckers will be going out the stadium if they try to ruin my night :finger:

Just help them over instead of ducking your head. Helps you protect yourself better, and gets the crowd surfers out of your way faster. plus, stadium shows don't kick people out for crowd surfing, at least not here.

I'm weak, skinny, and tall. I'm a fucking target, broski. Our stadiums do, by the way. I like it :allan:

Really? Weird. I pictured you short and fat for some reason. Hmm.

"Before I Forget" is a crowdsurf song? Whatthe?

I know what you mean, though. When I saw Parkway Drive earlier this year, I was on the rail, and people went a little over the top crowdsurfing for Carrion. It was to the point where I couldn't even look up to enjoy the band. Now, if its a House of Blues-sized venue, I'll make sure I'm the one to be doing the surfing. I guess its harder at a large festival... and I can only imagine how much the crush from that many people would suck up front. I'm not sure what I would have done in that situation.

Well, now they say it cost me $50. Meh, it's Odd Future  Considering it's StubHub, though, that is quite a solid deal. I was considering going to Earth that night, but now that I found this on Last.fm, no way am I missing this!

In Moscow, the only crowd-surfing occurs at core shows, and that's only if they're at clubs. That video is like, my nightmare. :eyes: I left my spot during Bring Me The Horizon because of crowdsurfers too.

Whereas here it's every damn metal show.

It's to do with crowd density though. If it's a massive arena and the show hasn't sold too well, the crowd is normally too spread out for crowd surfing.

Gonna be seeing Sacred Reich, Jungle Rot and Cross Examination tonight! Again, I'll be trying to get the set list for Sacred Reich since it's their only U.S. show this year. I'll do what I can with Jungle Rot and Cross Exam too. I'll put up a review if I get SR's set list.

July is a good month for me. I now have tickets for the following shows, I'll list the bands in the order of anticipation:

7/12 - Devin Townsend Project, Septicflesh, Obscura, Children of Bodom

7/22 - CLUTCH (SO FUCKING EXCITED!!!), Corrosion of Conformity

7/23 - SLAYYERRRRR!!!!, Rob Zombie, Exodus

I don't think I'll be able to make to to Mayhem on the 29th because of work (what a shame ;)), but I actually was looking forward to just enjoying the day, ya know. Oh well.

Just found out Sourvein is playing at show with Hour of 13 at the 31st Street Pub in July. Hopefully it's not 21+That tour has Nachtmystium as the headliner for the Cleveland date. :ass:

Sadly, it's on a Tuesday which means I can't go. Tuesday is Mr. Mom day. :(

Oh FUCK yes. Solipsist just got added as the local opener for Obscura and Skeletonwitch. They're the best local band in Cleveland. That lineup is flawless!I'm pretty sure I'm going to that show, too. Finally, I'll get a chance to see Solipsist (I've just missed them several times in the past few years). You're right - that lineup just keeps getting more tits every time they update it. :fist:

Unless you are friends with the bands or promoter, someone who is 15 and looks like an indie kid (this is how you described yourself, no?) has no chance of getting in. Any venue, especially in CA will card you, even shitty ones. If Crystal Castles are playing then it's probably a reasonably sized venue, aka no way in fuck will they not be enforcing their age policy.

Scavenger's Feast
Uneasy Lies the Head
New Song
Blood on the Cornfields
New Song

They got about 35, so I'd expect to see them play a similar lengthed set filled with new material. Judgment Day might get five or ten more minutes. Giant Squid for maybe an hour ten or so.

I meant The Devil's Blood, not Blood Ceremony (who are also playing).

Cathedral don't like that The Devil's Blood use real animal blood in their stage show. So it was either kick The Devil's Blood off the festival, or Cathedral cancel. The organisers had a strop about not being told who to allow at their festival, let Cathedral cancel, and have made The Devil's Blood headliners.

I'm not travelling for that.

Go to Agnostic Front

Yeah, I understand Mayhem is all important and influential as a band, but to me, Black Metal as a whole is more about the record versus the live show.

Another thing: Agnostic Front is playing at Reggies, which is a venue that kicks out crowdsurfers and stage divers... Still worth it? :eyes: If it were at the bottom lounge, I'd choose AF, no problem.

Hahaha I was wondering about that. Meh, there's no point in going to a hardcore show if you can't crowd surf or stage dive. Hell, even if you weren't planning to surf or dive (and I know you are), it wouldn't be the same. There's a whole aspect missing there; the energy level suffers.

I don't really care about crowd surfing at Reggies, especially at a lineup like this. There's been like 3 times at Reggies where I've wanted to crowd surf/stage dive. The reason I'm not really disappointed about missing this show is that I've seen every band on here at least once (Vital Remains 3 times) except for Abysmal Dawn and I haven't bothered to check out their stuff anyway.

Well my mother managed to get my car running again this afternoon so my friend and I decided an hour later to just head out to the Hate Eternal show. We made it right before Vital Remains finished with Dechristianize so I'm happy I got to see some of them.

Hate Eternal was next and they were pretty good. I wasn't too fond of them when I saw them 2 years ago but they were pretty solid at some points. The set list is the same as the one posted on here and setlist.fm so there's nothing new.

Origin was headlining this date, and unfortunately we had to bust out early. I wanted to check if my car would start again just to be safe, and go figure, it didn't. Luckily a guy walking by helped me out and we pulled on some of the fuses in the car and managed to get it running. Just to be safe I checked out some of Origin and then left with my friend so that the car would start up again. I really gotta get this thing fixed. Luckily I got a ride to Devin Townsend tomorrow so I don't have to worry about that.

But overall I'm happy I made it out to the show and caught the bands I wanted to see. I met up with a few other friends who I hadn't seen in months as well. I'd say that it was a pretty damn good ending to an otherwise shitty day.

Go to Death Grips, because they don't really do the whole "shows" thing and you can see Municipal Waste a million times per year.

Flogging Molly/Clutch at the end of the month for me and that's it for summer.

I'm probably skipping Mayhem in December to make my ridiculous concert week in late September/early October more manageable. For those keeping score at home, that's Evergrey 9/23, Katatonia 9/25, Opeth/Katatonia 9/26, and Enslaved/Ghost/Alcest 10/2. Not missing Priest/Lizzy/BLS in November though. That's kind of essential.

Here's hoping. I did an interview with him last September and had the opportunity to hang with them the whole night on both the Despised Icon tour and the Darkest Hour one. He's one of the chillest musicians I've ever had the pleasure of hanging around. I hope only for the best of that man.
