If for some reason I can't make it to Chicago this weekend to visit Columbia, I'm trying to hit up the Skeletonwitch/3 Inches of Blood show on Thursday. I'm not a big fan of either band, but I know for a fact that seeing those two bands play together in a bar would be a fun, fun experience.

Sweden Rock have posted their running order, so I now know who I'll be seeing which days:

Day 1: No one for sure. Maybe Crashdiet if I get there in time. Maybe Five Horse Johnson. I arrive too late to see Rhino Bucket and the rest of the line-up is fucking awful.

Day 2: The Haunted, Clutch, Queensryche, Accept, Saxon, The Cult, Judas Priest (and maybe Buckcherry if I'm bored)

Day 3: Rob Zombie, Whitesnake, Down, Iced Earth, Mr. Big, Overkill and either Steelheart or Agent Steel

Day 4: Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne, Rage (acoustic), Destruction, Molly Hatchet, Rhapsody of Fire and maybe Styx if I'm bored.

cool man, can't wait for those vikings to come up here in Montreal. Give us a review. Tomorrow for me it's Accept, I'm very exited the new album is awesome plus all the old classics, the only thing I wish is that they play both The Abyss and Love Child, 2 songs that don't make the setlist every night it seems. They vary the lenght of their set between 18 and 23 songs . I wish I get a long set

I know I've been bitching about Pittsburgh not getting shows all year, but the month of July has redeemed Pittsburgh's lack of shows.

In the span of two weeks I get to see alot of bands that I like alot:
7/12 - Devin Townsend/Obscura/Septicflesh (I'm not a huge fan of CoB anymore but they put on a killer show so I'll stay)
7/22 - Motherfucking CLUTCH!!! and CoC, who I just recently started getting into. I'm just really excited to see Clutch headline.
7/23 - SLAYYYERRRRR!!!/Rob Zombie/Exodus. I've never seen Slayer or Rob Zombie up close so this should be an experience. The only Exodus album I've heard in full is Bonded By Blood, so I'll have to check out more of their stuff.
7/29 - Mayhem Fest. (Megadeth, Machine Head, In Flames, Unearth) Not too much I care about here, and I could honestly skip it if I really wanted to, but I used to be into all four of the bands I listed. Luckily Machine Head and In Flames are headlining the side stages at this stop.

My bad I forgot Tempo, but the other 3 not at all. I guess if you want to know all the songs when you see them live then check out the Atrocity Exhibition albums but the only song they play off SHKM is Deathamphetamine.

Also not true. They've played the title track from SHKM a lot.

And it's not just about knowing what they include in the current set. SHKM and both Exhibit albums are excellent, and wholly relevant thrash albums in 2011.

To pull the whole "only the early stuff matters" cliche with Exodus is stupid.

Once again, agreed on all parts. The Exhibit albums are the most mature and heaviest Exodus albums. IMO those two are Exodus' finest works. Not knocking the old stuff, as Bonded and Fabulous are both classics, but but the overall improvements in songwriting and the obvious improvements in sound really shine on the last two albums.

This is just my opinion but I don't think the song writing improved at all. They drag songs out for way to long. Exodus should really just stick to 4-6 minute songs. Songs like Funeral Hymn are just so dragged out and really repetitive. And the part about maturity, I guess you can say they're more mature then the old albums but they're still not very mature, it's alot of typical fuck Christianity lyrics.

Let me just say the Doobie Brothers are waaaaaaay better live than on a disk. They're not exactly a band I listen to frequently, and I'd probably say given their talent their reputation is deceiving, but man, they're excellent live.

Well, Vicious Rumors have cancelled their London show this month, so that's off my list now.

But just added is an invite only tiny acoustic performance by Glenn Hughes on Thursday as part of the launch of his new biography. Win!

I have a Physics midterm that day from 4-6 in San Bernardino. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it out there in time. Oh well, I bet they won't do the fire show at Jimmy Kimmel

Whitesnake tonight. I'll try and post a setlist if I can recognize everything they play (not super familiar with the last two albums and some of the earlier ones, though the set will most likely be the hits with a few from Forevermore).

Just letting you know that there is a good possibility that this guy will not show up for this. He sends imposters to a lot of his gigs and has them lip sync.

Dude is from NYC yet he just rescheduled and then canceled his own gig last year when he lives not even an hour away from the venue.

Wondering whether I should see BTBaM tonight. I wasn't that impressed last time I saw them, and as I recall, I said to myself afterwards, "I'll only see them again if they're on a particularly good lineup." Which they're not. Terror is playing downstairs, though, so I guess I could go down there during JFAC and maybe BTBaM if they suck.

I thought BTBAM was excellent the one time I've seen them. Obscura and Devin Townsend have an offdate near me, but I don't know if I want to go because I can't get into Devin Townsend (at least on Deconstruction) at all. Anyone recommend me an album to try?

Deconstruction is probably not a good start for Devin. I would check out Addicted, Ziltoid, Terria, and Sychestra for a good idea of what he's about.

Warren Haynes just announced a show in London on July 5, so that's in my calendar now. Along with An Evening with Corey Taylor on July 12 where he'll be playing a solo acoustic set and talking about his book (which all ticket holders get a signed copy of).

The rest of the year now looks like:

May
16 - Riverside
18 - My Dying Bride
31 - Joanne Shaw Taylor

June
8-11 - Sweden Rock Festival
17 - Dio Disciples

July
1 - Gregg Allman
5 - Warren Haynes
12 - Corey Taylor
13 - The Black Crowes
17 - Fozzy

August
5 - Iron Maiden
15 - Suicidal Tendencies

October
1 - Redemption
14 - Touchstone?

November
4 - Iced Earth
30 - Deep Purple

December
8 - Bryan Adams
9 - Blaze Bayley

Is LA's public transport really that shitty?

Well, to get to the venue (about an hour and a half drive from my house) I would probably have to take two buses, a train, and then two more buses. I wouldn't mind doing that if I had no other options, but then I would have no way to get home because the buses stop running at 11.

I guess I'm gonna try to go to the Black N' Blue Bowl then. Also, I think Converge is sold out, too. But at least the same night Cripple Bastards are playing with Magrudergrind, The Kill, Noisear, and Shitstorm. Bummed about deathfest though, not only for the show but to hang out with friends down there. Gotta take off way in advance next year.

That's my problem too. I bet they come to a hole in the wall like Thee Parkside, my favorite venue in San Francisco and that would be the best show I'd ever go to. I would be willing to travel for Anaal too, but god damn, the potential for that show in San Francisco is through the fucking roof.
