I see Astronautalis in your sig all the time, and at a quick glance I keep thinking it's God is an Astronaut, and I flip. It's happened like 3 times over the last few days.

Well I would love it is GIAA came around, I don't think they have been in my area in a couple of years. Astronautalis is a rapper though

If you promise you aren't a member of the KGB, then that'd be cool.

If you're ever at a show here in Northern California, I attend 90 percent of my shows in a Cormorant - Metazoa shirt. Feel free to say hey.

They're climbing my to see list. I think they've only done one US Tour in like 07, and they were robbed at the end of it. I don't think that means good news for their next batch of US shows.

Oh hey, how about in the middle of Machine Head (mainstage opener) you get into the circle pit and yell out that Russians are fags. Much easier to find you ;)

I'm doing mainstage all day until Disturbed gets on - then I'm going over to either Testament or Trivium.

Mayhem Fest don't work that way... The two smaller stages are right next to each other and the bands go back and forth, once those end the main stage starts, so no 2 bands are playing at the same time.

It's a possibility. Where you wearing a Gojira shirt at Missing Link? Wasn't the whole entire show, but I was standing by some dude wearing a a Gojira shirt, and when I was checking Mastodon's set list on this site, he had the same sort of enthusiasm to see Crusher Destroyer live as Wine did.

Apparently the Blood Ceremony/Ghost show I was going to hit at the end of April has been cancelled (most likely because Ghost got the support slot on Paradise Lost's anniversary tour), but Blood Ceremony are playing a make-up show a week earlier without Ghost, so I'll hit that instead.

I buy tickets for shows two months in advance if I can afford it. All my other friends wait until the day of the gig and show up at the venue with their cash.

LOL @ their faces when they're told it's sold out.

In general, I do. With that said, for a band that totally over saturates their hometown market and struggled to sell their last hometown show, apparently, I didn't think they'd sell out Slim's.

Another reason I was considering JFAC was ticket price being lower, and venue easier to film at. If pressed to choose with prices being the same + a good venue, Sep would be chosen every time. We will see :blaze:

Well that has something to do with it, If it wasn't so expensive it would have been an ok or good decision. I'll probably never pay to see them again.

They just don't have the mojo that they used to and it was exciting to hear the songs they played, but there wasn't much exciting about how they played them.

Natrlhi
03-03-2011, 10:56 AM
^ Interesting point. It's probably my age talking here, but when I saw them, I was impressed at how high their energy still is, given how old they are (which is about my age). I mean, they aren't exactly geezers yet (and neither am I), but they aren't teenagers anymore either. I also like how they've matured as people - or at least Hetfield (Lars is still a bit of a bitch and a goof, but whatever). I guess I could just put myself in their shoes to some extent, and I also just plain had a lot more fun than I thought I would.

That said, I don't know that I'd pay very big bucks to see them again either, unless their next album turns out to be something really special. Part of my interest in seeing them last time was that the album they were touring for (Death Magnetic) was much better than their recent efforts, so there was that, too.

...and  at Derelict, who is 100% correct.

Wanted to see Amon Amarth in Cleveland but it's during my Occultism in Africa final so it looks like it's gonna be Chicago on a Thursday or nothing.Ya know, there's a wild-ass chance I might actually have to try to make the Chicago show instead of Cleveland as well. I totally spaced out on the fact that the Cleveland show is on a Tuesday night, which is the night my wife works and I watch the kids every week. There might actually be more likelihood of my convincing her to visit her parents for a long weekend in April (Thursday through Saturday or Sunday), than there would be of me finding a sitter for Tuesday 5/3 and going to a show while she's at work (or convincing her to switch shifts with someone so I can go to a metal show).

Fuck, I really hope I don't have to miss this tour. This is a "can't miss" type of show, man! Plus, AA is one of the top bands on my "haven't seen yet / must see soon" list. :snivel:

No problem Man. Yeah, they don't usually vary more than 1-2 songs per show. But you're right, they kill live. I saw them in Milford, CT + Albany, NY last month, and they killed it both times, in front of very small crowds. Glad you had a good time :light:

I won't lie, I do have a more enjoyable experience when I go to concerts with my friends, but I still don't have a problem going by myself, just as long as its a band that I LOVE to death. Also, the only time I really go to concerts with friends is if its a hip hop show. I don't have many friends that listen to metal other than the traditional mainstream stuff like Maiden, Tallica', and they also have a huge hard on for Power Metal and CKY. But that's it.. When it's usually metal shows I go myself(since none of my friends are into any of the bands that I like). But when its hip hop shows, I usually go with a big group of 8 to 10 people. For Example: I recently went to a hip hop show a couple of weeks ago. I went with a big group of friends(There was a good 6-7 people in our group). I went to scion rock fest yesterday by myself. Why? Because none of my friends like the bands that are on the bill. They only listen to the traditional classic stuff like Maiden and an ungodly amount of Power Metal stuff.

But we all share the same love and dedication for Hip hop. :fist:

anyways that's my 2 cents for ya

I don't worship Accept, so nothing lost.

Yeah, my friends are like that too, which kills me because I love an ungodly number of sludge/post-rock/death/black/experimental metal and they're not into that 'shit' so I have to go alone.

Hip-hop I like - Slick Rick, NWA, Public Enemy (seen 'em/met 'em), Beastie Boys, and The Notorious B.I.G.

The only gigs this year that I have no-one to go with so far are Meshuggah, Architects, Maiden (in FL, I saw them here in Moscow with my crew up on the rails), Beneath the Massacre, Swans, Moby, and Mayhem Mtn View. :flame:

It's like right around the same time. It'll either be the Saturday after it's out or before it's out, can't remember exactly. Hoping they don't do more than a song or two from it, though, I wanna be familiar with what they play.

Actually, if I get "In the Constellation of the Black Widow," and I'm sure I will, I'll be happy. "Human, All Too Fucking Human" would be my pipe dream and the rest of their staples are great.

No fucking way would I pay 23 bucks to see Carnifex.

In fact, no fucking way would I allow someone to PAY ME 23 bucks to see Carnifex (well, maybe if there were other awesome bands on the bill, such as Unleashed).

In response to your second question, Misery Index is surprisingly good live. I say "surprisingly" because I didn't expect to like them at all, and was very favorably impressed the first time I saw them (opening for someone else, of course). The second time I saw them - again, as an opening act - they were pretty good as well. They have a very energetic stage presence, and they are heavy and loud.

 Yeah, I figure. I'll probably make a lame excuse to take off. I think I'm going to the show alone, so I can say I'm meeting my girlfriend at a party or something. I don't even want to put the word "Emmure" in my Concerts Attended Excel doc.

Ha, that's awesome! Ya know, I like some deathcore, but these idiots are just awful. I had the chance to see them in '09, they were somehow headlinging a tour over Terror, All Shall Perish + Winds Of Plague. All 3 of those bands played great that night, and I wisely left before Emmure played.

Their lead singer irriates me something fierce. I have nothing against black people whatsoever, but this kid tries to act like a black ghetto gangster, and he just makes a complete ass of himself. It's like "Dude, you're white"!!!!

With the exception of PPUSA being a maybe (but looking more likely), those are all pretty definite. There's a decent amount of shows at the Comcast Center this summer that I'm interested in (Motley/Poison, Journey/Foreigner, Def Leppard/Heart, Mayhem, Warped, etc), but seeing as how I work there and have in the past been called in even shortly before the start of the show, I doubt I'll be buying tickets to anything and just see what I can from the lawn.

I ended up going as you noticed. I've already seen Saint Vitus in January 2010 and it was such an amazing experience for me that I didn't want a shortened and potentially not as awesome experience ruin seeing them live for me. It was awesome, but when Wino's voice went out it was ruined. Crowbar won me over in the end in going and it was definitely worth it. I honestly never listened to any of the opening bands and didn't bother checking them out. I know that must sound stupid, but I just haven't been about checking out new doom style bands lately. No real reason why, just hasn't been in my interest to do so.

Yeah, ya know - I felt like maybe my statement was a little too strong after thinking about it some, so I went back and listened to their new album again. I like parts of it well enough. I still am not a fan per se, but I would probably revise my original statement by removing the "fuck Crowbar" part (which was pretty much overdoing it in jest anyway), and I'll retract the part about all the songs sounding the same. What I really meant to convey was that every time I listen to their music, I just get this very strong "so what?" thing going on. It's like - yeah, this is OK, but I've heard this same sound before, done better by bands I'm more into already, so why would I have to come to Crowbar for it? They just don't seem to do anything I haven't heard elsewhere before (hence the "it all sounds the same" comment).

But go ahead and love 'em if you want. They certainly don't suck - they just don't turn me on much, is all.
