I'd rather watch an oiled up Joey DeMaio riding around on a bike for 5 minutes than watch Cristina Scabbia run into an abondoned control room that just so happens to have a working mic.

the only thing you really need to "get" is that you don't need high lyrical concepts or a clean cut image to make good music, you just need the chops. And Manowar have chops. They aren't the best, but they have 'em.

Dude, it's an escapist popcorn flick designed to play on Americans' Cold War fears about how powerful and bad the Soviets are, while simultaneously stroking our egos about how noble and good we Americans are, and how plucky and determined and resourceful we can be (as opposed to those brutes with their tanks). It's completely transparent and banal. That's what makes it fun -- how preposterous and corny it all is. Yes because I don't fear guns. He can only shoot one person at a time. It's not easy to hit a moving target in the head. And his .22 doesn't even count because the only way that could possibly be lethal is to have it pressed up against your temple. And odds are if everyone sees atleast one person doing it they'll help you out. You can say what you will about my personality but keep in mind that aside from some posts here you don't know me. If the guy gets hit with a book or something it will distract him and give me a chance to tackle the guy or get his gun out of his hand.

But, of course, you can sit there and let him shoot you because you're afraid of getting shot

I wasnt trying to be fascist. I am trying to make social commentary. Sure, my "you should leave" thing was out-of-line, but I didn't really mean it. I should use more smileys in my statements, because whenever I say something, you folks read it as gung-ho redneck shit, and I dont want it to come off that way. I dont want to deport anyone, I was just POINTING out the fact that by dissenting against the US, you are exercising your liberties. THATS ALL I MEANT!

My Jews, Japanese-Americans, and Native Americans comment was merely adding to someones (Mike's, I think) comment about how in the case of oppression, invasion, attack, etc, it is hopeful that the group of victims will band together and rise up against the offenders. And I pointed out that:

1) when the US government relocated Japanese-Americans, their leaders and intellectuals were seperated from the masses, so that they couldnt band together and make a stand against the government. I am not saying that they were necessarily capable of doing so, but it would be a great tale if they did.

2) The Jews were rounded up and executed throughout Europe by mainly one group; the Nazis. There were small pockets of resistance here and there, but for the most part, the Jews and other victims of the Holocaust didnt/couldnt band together and overthrow the Nazis. I am NOT saying that they should have; I am not calling them pussies. I am saying it would have been favorable if they could have done that (which they couldnt)

3) When the "white man" came to the Americas, he forced the native peoples off their land. Along with disease and inferior firepower, the Native Americans were handicapped in their defense of their land because they were all in seperate tribes. The whites could pillage and conquer each tribe individually. There is no doubt that had all the Native American groups banded together into one resistance group, then the land would not have been so easily taken, but because of language barriers/customs/inter-tribal fueds, that pact among Indian nations was impossible..

So my state was more to show that in the past, groups either tried to band together (and failed) or they didn't have the means to do so....Just a historical commentary. Nothing meant to be racist or offensive. Sorry. It would be very desirable that if any government begins to genocide/conquer another people (or its own), that those victims could band together and fight; which is basically what the insurgency in Iraq is doing.

I look at it this way. He supports guns, that makes gun owners happy. He is against the war, that should make all the liberals and some of the conservatives happy. Hes against illegal immigration, that should make people in the boarder states happy. He will abolish the IRS, that will make EVERYONE happy. Imagine getting to actually keep your whole salary? That would do wonders for the economy. People would be buying new cars, improving their homes, sending their kids to better schools, etc.

So no matter who you are, Ron Paul can make you happy.

Its happiness for everyone

he wants to abolish the irs?? thats fucked up. getting to keep your paycheck sounds nice on paper, but when there are no public schools and you have to pay through the teeth for your kids to get a good education (and many wont be able to afford it at all), the roads in poor neighborhoods get even wose, and medicare drops out... etc, good god this is fucked up. unless i am misunderstanding this he sounds like a terrible candidate

uhh . . . . i wouldnt go that far.

im watching his GoP debte video right now. For all my bias, he really doesnt seem that bad. He has an aura of integrity around him which i admire. I happen to completely dissagree with him on almost every issue, but he seems like a intelligient kind-hearted person.

my major problem with his policies is that the whole conservative spend-as-little-money-as-possible thing goes against all my beliefs . . . it seems to me that the whole purpose of government is to provide services, such as better education, better/cheaper healthcare, subsidy for medical research, better law inforcement, etc. If it doesnt serve these purposes, then i don really see what the point of it is. The part where he talked about lowering taxes that much . . . that sounds great, but there are certain functions that the government needs to preform, and we really, really need to pay back our debt. Maybe after we've delt with that problem we can talk about lowering taxes. Also, his non-intervention policy means no help for darfur, which is kinda sad . . . i know its not our duty to police the world, but it sure would be nice to give them a hand . . . i think it would do a lot of good in terms of making Americans look better.

Div

The Federal Reserve is a private bank that charges the government interest for printing the money. The Income Tax pays this interest. Schools and roads and such are paid for by your state tax. Paul wants congress to go back to coining its' own money (like theyre supposed to do). The income tax is also a direct tax on your labor. Going to work should be a fair trade, your labor for the boss' money, but the IRS considers your salary as "profit" and takes a chunk out of it. It's kinda like slavery.

Ron Paul advocates the growth of state's rights and local government to speak for the citizens of its owns state (such as Ohio's 12-14 million people) doing its job, instead of one massive central government being responsible for 300 million people.

i dont think you quite understand the system. The Federal Reserve Board does not charge the government just to make money, it is the single defense against extreme inflation. These are the guys who mess with rates just a tiny bit and keep our economy in balance. Removing this part of our government would have disastrous consequences . . . imagine millions of americans getting sub-prime loans that they cant pay back and living way beyond their means because their is nobody to keep them in check, You think that no taxes would help the economy . . . just wait until crunch-time when all those loans default and our entire economy collapses. hello depression :)

But the State of Ohio would be better suited to meet my needs, logically, because they have less people to worry about....as opposed to the federal government. Taxes would not be abolished, they would be collected by the state, as the citizens of the state saw fit.

Also, if the citizens of a state want the death penalty/abortion/taxes/draft/whatever, then they could better establish the majority rule in a smaller arena. Dont you find it utter bullshit that One executive leader, one small group of the elite, 9 men and women in black robes, can speak for the entire nation, decide what is right or wrong, say what you can and cant do? 51% may put those people in power, but that still leaves the other half of America (a shitload of people) pissed off...

I still dont understand the concept of a national debt...who are we in debt to??

well, mostly to rich americans who buy bonds. But also to china, japan, and tons of other countries. Its not really the fact that we owe so much, is that eventually people will stop buying loans and the entire world will lose faith in the american economy. I assume you can figure out what happens after that . . .

As for interstates..why cant states pay for their own stretch of the road?

i have no idea . . . i dont know anything about highways. That was just an example. My point is, there are tons of little things that the government MUST regulate to keep this country functioning. Im not talking about gun rights or anything big like that, im talking about business subsidies for american workers, military spending (imagine if each state had its own military . . . that you just be great), etc. There are so many little things that our government does that we cant even begin to list.
