so is this like a complete remake of the series or just the same thing except in HD?

It's like a "director's cut," in that it's going to be about 3x shorter (byebye filler and unnecessarily long and irrelevant sequences) and following the original manga more closely. The sound/acting/music and such is being redone, but the animation is basically staying the same and being retouched into HD. So a little bit of both.

Are you serious? Do you even watch hockey? I watch the Caps every chance I get just to see him play. He is probably the best all-around player in the NHL right now and he has fun playing the game. I would take him over Crosby or Malkin every day of the week.

Seriously. Fuck Crosby, he's a whiny little shit. I've got respect for Malkin, though. He stepped up in the last few games of the series when he needed to. I was really hoping the Bruins would advance, though, because I don't think the 'Canes can beat the Penguins.

I agree on all points. I was really hoping to see Boston work over the Penguins. I can't believe Carolina has made it this far. But I thought the same thing back in 2006 when they won the Cup. Cam Ward has played very well.

And I really hope Chicago beats Detroit. There is no team in the league that I hate more than Detroit. Last year's finals were brutal. If it is Detroit and Pittsburgh again I may have to throw my TV out the window.

I agree with you both completely. Does anyone else notice how it seems like the NHL is always rooting for the Penguins? It's disgusting. In the average game, if the opposing team scores a goal, they simply announce it, whereas when any of the Penguins (particularly Crosby or Malkin) score, it suddenly becomes world fucking news? But yeah, Sidney Crosby is a whiny little crybaby who isn't half the player a lot of people (particularly Pittsburgh fans) make him out to be.

He's probably the best player in hockey right now (although I am partial to Sidney Crosby), but I don't care for his showboating or his careless off-the-ice mannerisms. I dislike him just like I dislike Stephon Marbury just like I dislike half the Yankees just like I dislike most wide receivers. I think sports should be a bastion for chivalry in a society that has forgotten it.

I too will be watching it tonight, but I don't see how this season is downhill. I think that, at least the latter half, was much better than season 4 (there was a stretch of like 6 AWESOME episodes in a row somewhere there). The best part is where she picks up the guy and he's like "I want you to call me Daddy," and she's all giggly like "WHY YOU LIKE TO FUCK YOUR KIDS?" and he just dead cold stares at her while she's laughing about it, then she awkwardly stops. It was totally Lucille Ball.

It had its ups and downs. It started off weak, got bad in the middle, then got really, REALLY good (the Michael Scott Paper Company story arc and the two-parter where Michael and Pam went on the road were among the best episodes in the history of show). The finale starts good, then comes to a screeching halt at the end. Also, it really should have been an hour like all the other finales. It was definitely the weakest of the finales, with "The Job" being the best, IMO.

Well based on the something like a decade that passed between the original airing of DBZ and it's airing on Toonami, I'd say odds are not too soon. Then again, adult swim tends to pick up shows pretty fast nowadays, so who knows.

Trying to watch it in Japanese has been quite weird for me considering I grew up watching the English one, there's some weird differences. Frieza actually sounds like a man, Goku and Krillin are both women... :eyes:

Maiden audiences in America are such fucking pansies compared to the rest of the world. Generally speaking of course. I guess it's just because music in general means so much more to those people than it does to most people here in America. At a standard US Maiden show, you always have a fair percentage of people who showed up "just because it's Iron Maiden" and are just light-weight fans who know some of the songs. I can't relate to this at all, and personally am far, far closer to the mentality of fans from the rest of the world.
But yes, I noticed this in the DVD as well. Eight year-old kids in English-as-second-language countries are singing along far more passionately than people in America. Also, you'll notice that like 99% of the audiences they show in other countries are all wearing Maiden shirts, as opposed to US audiences, clad with their trendy new metal shirts, not wanting to be "that guy" by wearing the actual band they're seeing's shirt.

Yea man, I fucking hate it. I feel that I'm a lot like the other countries in terms of that as well (not in a cocky way). So many people just have that dumb mentality that showing support and going all-out for a band is stupid and it's "over the top", so god knows you'll get a god amount of misdeamonoring stares and whatnot. I really have always wanted to go to a European metal festival/show, it would be fucking awesome. And to the kids being more passionate in Europe, I just thought was so god damned metal and inspiring :fist:.

And for Metallica it's worse :hecho:. Me and Ian would know, crazy skinhead/elitits there, some who only knew Black Album stuff. Terrible crowd.

You were giving yourself a blowjob and slamming your countrymen collectively. Who cares what other people do? Just go to the show and enjoy. You're there for the band...not the fans.

Even if I was, why do YOU care? I don't think I am better than the average concert-goer, but I DO think I am better than the sort of people who go to shows to only hear hits, go to the bathroom during the less popular songs, get so drunk they don't remember shows, and just sit down and don't get into it. And there are just more of those people in this country due to the fact that people take seeing bands for granted because all the more popular ones come around on a regular basis, as opposed to living in some of the countries Maiden play in where their tour hitting that area may be by far the biggest rock/metal event in a multi-year period.
Oh, and there is a difference between making observations about audiences away from shows and letting those opinions have any effect on you while you're there. I don't ever let anyone else or my opinion on anyone else effect how much I enjoy a show when I'm there. Thankfully due to the popularity of the music I like, I only have to see the aforementioned hated behavior in approximately one show each year. However I'll be damned if I'm going to listen to people complain when I make observations about certain groups of concert-goers on an internet message board.

Are you fucking serious? According to you, if two people pay the same amount of money to go to a show, and one spends the entire show up front getting into it, singing every word, and the other spends the entire show sitting at the bar barely paying attention except for maybe one or two songs, just because they both paid to get into the show, they are equal fans? How the fuck can you even process that thought, let alone post in and believe it?

I'm not saying they're better fans....but from what I have gathered here, and having heard you blather about your music elitism the past 3 years that i've been here, you seemed to me you were trying to say you're a better person than those other people.

Are you contending that in other countries, there aren't people who get drunk or only like 'the hits'? Are you saying that people in foreign countries are better fans because the bands they love don't care/can't make the money flying to their country, therefore they are more serious about the music?

Are you saying that people in foreign countries are better fans because the bands they love don't care/can't make the money flying to their country, therefore they are more serious about the music?

In response to your first statement:
I am indeed saying I am a bigger/better fan than those people. As someone who can offer a limited yet existent reverse perspective, I know I am. I've played over 50 shows at this point, and to put in the simplest terms possible, I would rather play to 30 incredibly enthusiastic than 300 people acting bored, maybe getting into one song, and just standing there complacently for the duration of a set. And from all the conversations I've had with musicians on a far more professional level than myself, I know that that is a pretty widely-held belief. Am I better person? No, I can't say that I am. But I can say fairly confidently that I am a bigger and better fan. If that makes me an elitist, that's great, color me an elitist.

Now, in response to the second half of what you said:
No, I never said that the sort of people I am expressing disapproval of don't exist in other countries, not by any means. I am merely saying that the US has a bigger percentage of these types of people at shows. This probably has a good deal to do with the fact that classic metal is a far more youthfully appealing thing than it is in America. Teenage Maiden fans are actually far more popular than 40-something ones in South American countries. And when it comes to older folks at classic metal shows, they tend to fit quite well into the category I'm talking about.
And what I am trying to say is that the absence of bands touring smaller countries makes the shows that do happen far more important to the people who go. For example, if you can, take any band you like that have been active for years worth of you liking them, but have never toured and allowed you to see them. If a couple of years from now, that band actually toured and after liking them for half a decade you finally got to see them, you can't tell me that that show wouldn't mean more to you than it would have if you had seen them 3 times before. I really noticed this when I saw Saxon. I had been waiting to see them for a solid 5 years, experienced multiple tour cancellations, etc. When they finally actually played, the show was just 100x more EPIC, because I had been convinced it wasn't ever going to happen. That is pretty much exactly what I'm talking about, except it happens for people in smaller countries with just about every single band they actually do get the opportunity to see. Imagine the enthusiasm you put into all shows over the course of two years and pouring it into seeing just one band once.

I can't say anything better than I have just explained it, so I'm out of ammo for an argument.

ChildrenofSodom

I can see what you're saying, but I don't know if I see it on a personal level. I've seen people bored at shows, but thats usually during an openner. Who goes to a show just to be bored during the headliner?

This, as an isolated point, is absolutely true. The most vivid example I can think of for this is Picture playing Sweden Rock 2008. A big group of fans from BRAZIL came to Sweden Rock that year for Picture. Sure, they were into a bunch of other bands who played, but that's true of every Sweden Rock line-up. The reason they came all that way and spent all that money that particular year was Picture. And band who have never, and probably will never, play in Brazil.

His article makes more sense when you read it. He's saying that women don't have to be funny. Whereas if a guy can't make a girl laugh, she won't like him, girls don't have to try to be funny because we already like them. Their style/method of getting humor and conveying humor is alot different from men.

Makes sense to me. I don't agree with his assertion that only dykes and Jewish women are funny, but i think the foundation of his argument has some validity.

This. Girls don't need to walk up to guys with a joke. I work with mostly chicks, excepting Brad, and I've talked to a few of them at end about this. They don't really ever notice 'hot guys' with any real consequence. They look for non-physical traits. Sure, physical attraction plays a part, but the guy's humor seems to get his foot in the door. Whereas most guys will be willing to give any hot chick a chance.

As to the women aren't funny vs. women don't have to be funny thing, I don't know, the point might be moot because I don't think men necessarily have to be funny either. Simply put, there's too many happy couples on this earth for me to believe that at least one member of each is funny. There aren't that many funny people. Hell, comedians, whose sole job is to be funny, only have about a 50% success rate at actually making me laugh, so I clearly don't need a woman to make me piss myself in laughter. I dunno, being funny may be a little overrated.

just watched Death Proof and it was probably one of the worst, most annoying movies ive ever seen. you think its going to be some badass movie about vehicular homicide... but its just a bunch of trashy women going to bars and doing other stupid boring shit. the killer stuntman had his badass moments but deteriorated into a huge pussy at the end. i thought "ok so the first 10 minutes are just slow, soon its going to get awesome" then "ok so the first 20 minutes...." "first 30 minutes..." and it just kept going for the whole movie except one 30 second car crash scene.

i get this movie was supposed to be a joke, but they had such a good opportunity with that plot, and in the end it wasnt even a little bit interesting.

see this movie if you want to see a bunch of slutty girls drive around doing "girl talk" for 2 hours.

Hello, maybe there was a point behind the 'slutty girls' beating the typical badass stunt man?

If you cut it down to 20-30 minutes, it would have been worth staying for after Machete, Thanksgiving and Rob Zombie's Werewolf Women of the SS. Seriously there was way more entertainment packed in the 10 minutes between movies than anywhere else.

LOL No. There must've been a lack of good comedy shows this year or something.

Family Guy had a "clip" which was just Stewie when he beat up Brian about owing him money, but all they did was "WHERE'S MY EMMY? WHERE'S MY EMMY?" and it was really fucking bad.

I only watch re-runs, so I don't know which shows are from which seasons - but it makes me laugh every time I see it (so either they never show newer episodes when I watch, or you and I have finally found something on which to completely disagree!).
