I was debating that with my uncle the other day. I only watch Man Vs Wild, and just saw the swamp episode of Survivorman, and he only watches Survivorman, but has never seen Man Vs Wild. Man Vs Wild is less "real" but it is better made (because of camera crew) and it still portrays a sense of survival. Even though he isnt really in danger, I think Bear Gryllis does an excellent job in explaining each and everything you can do in the given environment to survive. Survivorman is lower quality filming (because of no camera crew) but it presents a more survival driven atmosphere. Yeah, but he even says during the show, such as when he drinks elephant poop water....you can survive on your urine if you dont have any water, and this little bit of moisture can give you more hope for survival. HE didnt need to do it to survive, but he was demonstrating how YOU could find water if you found yourself in that situation.

Most of it is staged and hollywood antics, but it is still a possible option in an emergency situation.
