We can all say whatever we want. Just because someone's been around here awhile doesn't mean they should be immune from criticism.

Besides, my immunity to criticism comes from the shot I got as a kid.

Interesting. It's (probably) my favorite. You liked 'All Hope Is Gone' more than 'Iowa'? Not giving you shit, and I respect your opinion either way, I'm just curious.

Even though All Hope is Gone is my least favorite Slipknot record stylistically, just because it sounds the least Slipknot-ish, it's their most mature release.

I honestly think this season is really entertaining. The writing does feel very sloppy at times though, which does piss me off if they have no balls in taking any chances like last season. That twist there was kinda obvious but luckily there is still 3 more eps to pull out something else. I just hope Deb finds out Dexter's secrets.

Yeah I don't think the season on the whole has been that bad to be honest but a couple of episodes were really poorly written. However they got it back on track with the previous episode but I agree with you there, the twist is pretty obvious for all to see and so it kinda makes Dexter look like a fool:tp:

I think they are building towards some significant occurrence in the relationship between Deb and Dex what with all the tension building up recently.

Plus, any sweeping generalization like that should instantly ring on the ears of anyone with even so much as an elementary school education as extremely close-minded and highly unlikely - if not patently false - by virtue of the fact that it includes everything that has been and everything that ever will be remade. On Sunday I watched the entire first series of a new British series called 'The Fades'.

WELL worth checking out if they screen it Stateside. All about "Angelics" (humans with abilities) who can see "Fades" (dead spirits who can't cross-over for some reason), and effectively spend their time keeping them in check until the first ever Fade works some shit out.

Very, very cool 6-episode thing. Hopefully a second season next year.

Doctor Who I watch, but none of the last three or four series have been very good at all. I do like Matt Smith in the role, but the stories have been largely stupid and I thought the ending to the latest series was awful. The whole series was "how are they going to rig it so he gets out of dying?" So there was none of the suspense they thought they had, and the way they did it has a massive plot hole in it.

The Easter and Christmas specials have been particularly shit for years. Fortunately they often stand alone and aren't a very big part of the over-arching storyline.

Best thing to come out of recent Doctor Who stuff is the third series of Torchwood, which was amazing.

What sucks is it's so hard to watch British shows until they get picked up by Netflix or become widely considered classics and start airing over here. Very few things are we totally caught up on unless we pirate or BBC America decides it's worth our while. I'm sure plenty more shows than the two we included would have been in consideration had anyone seen them at all.

An annual tradition: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

What a classic. The majority of the best lines in the movie are delivered by the truly crazy Randy Quaid.

Exempli gratia:

Eddie: "If you don't remember, this here's Rocky."
Art: "Have you got a kiss for me?"
Eddie: "You better take a rain check on that Art. He's got a lip fungus they ain't identified yet."

Cathrine: "You remember Ruby Sue?"
Frances: "Oh yeah. Oh my gosh, her eyes aren't crossed anymore."
Eddie: "That's something ain't it? She falls in a well, eyes go crossed. She gets kicked by a mule, they go back to normal. I don't know."

Eddie: "After that long drive, we could use a little private time together. Honey, why don't you run and get the kid's things. And, don't forget the rubber sheets and the gerbils."

Eddie: "He's cute, ain't he? Only problem is, he's got a little bit of Mississippi leg hound in him. If the mood catches him right, he'll grab your leg, and just go to town. You don't want him around if you're wearing short pants if you know what I mean. A word of warning though: If he does lay into you, it's best to just let him finish."

Eddie: "Yeah, I got the daughter in the clinic, getting cured off the Wild Turkey. And, the older boy, bless his soul, is preparing for his career."
Clark: "College?"
Eddie: "Carnival."
Clark: "You got to be proud."
Eddie: "Oh, yeah. Yeah, last season he was a pixie-dust spreader on the Tilt-O-Whirl. He thinks that maybe next year, He'll be guessing people's weight or barking for the Yak woman. You ever see her?"
Clark: "No."
Eddie: "She's got these big horns growing right out above her ears. Yeah, she's ugly as sin, but a sweet gal. And, a hell of a good cook."

Eddie: "Well, don't go putting none of that stuff on my sled Clark. You know that metal plate in my head?"
Clark: "Ah! How could I forget?"
Eddie: "I had to have it replaced, because everytime Cathrine revved up the microwave, I'd piss my pants and forget who I was for about a half-hour or so. So, over at the VA, they had to replace it with a plastic one. It ain't as strong. So, I don't know if I ought to go sailing down no hill with nothing between the ground and my brain but a piece of government plastic."
Clark: "You really think it matters Eddie?"
Eddie: "Well, see the plate runs right underneath the part here. See, over here, nothing. But, here if this gets dented, then my hair just ain't going to look right."

Back on topic - I watched "Bridesmaids" on DVD last night. I thought it was pretty cute and funny. Nothing worth winning an award over, but some of the scenes where it seemed like the actresses were improvising were pretty damn funny and had me laughing out loud. My favorite character was the bride's sister, played by Melissa McCarthy. My wife loves the show she's on called "Mike & Molly", but it does nothing for me. McCarthy was a real gem in this movie, though - especially when she was aggressively throwing herself at people (either as an attempt to seduce them or to gain control of a situation).

Re-watching Kick-ass for the first time since theaters. I thought Hit Girl's profanity was funny the first time. Now it just seems forced. I know its part of her characterization, but the "cock"s and "cunt"s don't sit well with me for some reason. She can be ruthless and unchildlike without the language. I just don't like it when movies throw in random curse words to illicit a shock from the audience.

In terms of hardcore, a minute is about the average song length. Its a full song by all accounts.

I'm loving it too, equal parts adorable and Spinal Tap. It was made purely for a joke as the guy who produced is a family friend who wrote everything. Here's hoping this paves the way for her to be the next Grace Perry or Candace Kucsulain :D

After years and years of searching, I just found out there is not only a live song, but an entire fucking set of Demolition Hammer in 1992-1993 when they were touring for Epidemic of Violence!!! So yeah, watching that right now and thinking of the horrible things I would do just to be there.

What'd you think of the movie? I checked that out a while back and I thought it was pretty cool but not great. The movie should have been a little more fast paced IMO. I love the idea of trolls being angered by the smell of christian blood. That's metal as fuck.

I enjoyed it. However, the ending seemed abrupt... I was kinda confused about it. And yeah it could be a bit more fast paced, especially before the first troll encounter but I guess it builds to the actual encounters.

However, I can't complain about the movie just because of this part alone:

Halftime Show was pretty bad because of all the lip-synching (except Cee-Lo, he rules) and shitty Nicki Minaj, but it was nowhere near as terrible as last year.

It just boggles my mind how someone who hasn't been relevant in 12 years does the Superbowl and not Lady Gaga.

He's really the perfect choice: he puts on a big, entertaining stage show, everyone loves him, and he's totally family-friendly. The networks should be jumping over themselves to book him.

If anything good came from his born again Christian thing, it's definitely him showing up for this show. Definitely a consolation for not playing The Conjuring live anymore.
