Watchmen is seriously one of the worst movies ever made.

Legend of the Guardians was fun for what it was, and 300 is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I actually really like Watchmen and 300. I don't think Snyder is that great of a director though. I actually hear more hate for Zach Snyder then praise. I'm a member of my schools film club and I remember back in freshman year when Watchmen came out the 2 film buffs who were the pres. and vice pres. of the club spent a whole film club meeting ranting about how Watchmen was terrible and that Zack Snyder should be assassinated, I was a little afraid to speak up and say it wasn't that bad.

jd091
08-14-2011, 05:36 PM
Watchmen wasn't bad by any means. Sucker Punch, however, was a different story. :barf: It would have been so goddamn easy to make it badass, but Snyder finds a way to shit on our parade.

SomewhereInTime72

Snyder pretty much sucks. But I gotta agree with 300... it's not "good" but the fun levels are off the charts with that one.

I've heard it does what Donnie Darko did but just more complicated....?I wouldn't say it's more complicated, necessarily - just maybe a little harder to follow because it gets rather esoteric. It also has a completely different tone than Darko...I really don't see a very strong comparison to be made between the two films, if you ask me.

One of the most interesting things about the movie was that it was made for all of $7,000.

I definitely don't agree hugely on the Donnie Darko comparison either having now watched it, but Donnie Darko is definitely one of the only other films I can think of that are close to Primer in theme enough to get someone to watch it. Great movie though, and yes, the film has a lot of science talk, but I quite enjoyed a film not spoon-feeding me its details.

I'm not surprised on the budget, but that film does in 80 minutes and 7,000 dollars what most films fail to do with 100 minutes and 70000000000 dollars

This season of Sunny has been amazing so far. The 1st episode was one of my favorites episodes ever and the last 2 have been fantastic so far. Easily the best comedy on TV right now imo.

Really? Cause I think it has been awful, but I hope it's cause I am distracted by all the Thirsty Thursday participants here. I need to download the episodes and watch them on my own time.

Really? I don't see what people see in that show. Just seems cheap and crude to me.
Well, then shouldn't it be REALLY popular on this board then? ;)

And yes, it's really crude, but it's also extremely smart and the dialogue is razor-sharp. I can't think of any other shows that would reference Herman Melville short stories, Lord Byron and Anton Chekov.

Slow down a minute here, have you watched seasons 1-5 before?;) This season so far has been a vast improvement over the disappointment that was season 6. But saying the episodes have been amazing is a bit much. It seems season 6 was just an off year as the show is getting back on track this year. I have faith that they can make up for last season. The writers and the cast are too good for it not to happen.

Yeah, I have laughed thorughout all 3 episodes. I would say it's a pretty big improvement over most of last season (Season 5 is still and probably forever will be my favorite) I was actually surprised when I went on here and saw the negative feedback on the episodes because everyone I talk to has been raving about them.

An anime called Ergo Proxy. Anyone here seen it before? On episode 7 now, not bad at all!

Pretty good show but tries a little too hard to be deep. Pino is like the cutest thing ever though. Really similar to Texhnolyze, except Texhnolyze is awesomer. :D

Currently watching the new season of Supernatural which has definitely reached the point of being completely incomprehensible to anyone who wants to just watch it and hasn't been following the past 2 seasons. :eyes:

haha same here. I picked up the book first actually and half way through I decided to buy season 1. I finished both (the book days ago, and a few minutes ago I just finished the first season) and was surprised to find how different both are. I think the character is much more interesting in the book but overall a lot of the plot points are rushed and seem out of pure convenience. The TV show has the benefit of the length so it has much more time to flesh out everything and they did a great job of adding what needed to be expanded on.

I don't think the rest of the show has anything to do with the books so that kinda disappoints me that I can't do the same process.

Went to the midnight release of Paranormal Activity 3. It's not as bad as the first movie but not as good as the 2nd movie. I would say this one was probably the best at building tension, some really creepy scenes. The ending was weird though, I don't even think it completely made sense with the storyline. Felt like the ending to The Last Exorcism cept way more fucked up. Also all the awesome scenes in the trailer are yet again not in the movie, I was disappointed by the lack of that exorcism scene.

Two things this show needs to stop doing:

1) Pointing out people who look like celebrities in the audience. Half the people who get pointed out look like they're about to cry afterwards.

2) Stump The Trunk. This time was a clusterfuck with more fucking celebrities than there were legit fans. At first I liked this idea because it's a chance for fans to win free shit and to see Miss Box of Junk  but Eddie keeps asking for hints and dumb shit...this segment needs to fucking stop. Haha, I started Arrested Development last night. Only watched the first two episodes so far, but it's pretty funny.

Nice, the first season is funny but it gets even funnier later on.

I plan on starting Breaking Bad eventually.

So I watched the Beavis & Butthead episode. On the one hand, they got all the bells and whistles right and it was like they never left, but on the other hand, the episodes kind of sucked. "Crying" was just lame. Why the hell didn't they start off with Holy Cornholio since it was the one making the rounds? That looked amazing and would have started this out great with a bang.

Overall, 3/5.

I loved it, I think I laughed more at the couch scenes then the actual episode parts though. Initially I thought including tv commentary parts was a bad idea, it seemed even worse when the comic con trailer came out and they just showed jersey shore commentary and didn't show any music videos at all. I was pleased to see it was mostly music videos. I loved the True Life commentary and the Skrillex video commentary.

Just watched it and thought it was great. The crying episode was pretty lame though, seemed unfinished.

Halloween 4 on AMC, for the umpteenth time in the last few days. Fear Fest is shit anymore. Halloween, III, IV, and V over and over. No II. No Hellraiser's, no Friday the 13th's (except Jason Goes to Hell, which is shit), no Nightmare on Elm Street's, no Motel Hell, nothing except four Halloween films on repeat. God forbid throwing in a classic Romero film. Damn you AMC.I know, and normally AMC is a damn good channel.

Danielle Harris was actually great in both of those movies. Only decent part about them.

I thought Donald Pleasance did a good job. Shitty script, but he did what he could with it. The part where he freaks out at the end of 4 gives me chills ;)

I always juxtapose Loomis in that scene with Luke Skywalker's reaction to finding out Darth Vader's his father.

Agreed.

I seem to be one of the few that dig Halloween IV, V, and VI. And Donald Pleasance rules in all of them. RIP

Actually, I think that's a pretty funny idea for a halloween show. I would have had fun seeing that, even though I'm not an IWABO fan.

It was late at night and I didn't know any better. the last couple hours I'm awake at night, I do fucked up things. This is one of them.

It's also a PSA on how shitty bands are getting.

I'm not a fan of Slipknot or IWABO, but if I had to pick one I'd probably go with the latter. Neither of them are very good imo, but at least IWABO doesn't take themselves seriously. Also their music is much more dynamic and interesting, regardless of whether it's "good" or not.

Interesting. It's (probably) my favorite. You liked 'All Hope Is Gone' more than 'Iowa'? Not giving you shit, and I respect your opinion either way, I'm just curious.

As a side note, I actually broke down and bought the Iowa re-issue. Looking forward to checking it out.
