I bought my Heaven and Hell ticket this morning... $90 :hecho: :hecho: :hecho:

Then this evening, I submitted to FYE's consumer whore membership ploy and went shopping (they give members 20% off whatever you buy on your birthday)... I've kinda thinned out the selection of metal albums I would buy from them (and it seems like they're no longer carrying a bunch that they used to and that I would buy :hmm:), so I picked up a couple essential punk albums to bolster my collection. I got..

Black Flag - Damaged
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Sex Pistols - Nevermind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper (yes, I bought this... surprised?)
Unleashed - Midvinterblot (so good, if I had heard it earlier it might've gotten on my 2006 top ten)

5 albums for $50, not bad.

and, a Dead Kennedys shirt. Watch out, I might just go punk rock on you guys

I tried to find Fresh Fruit at Best Buy but the sons of bitches didn't have it.

As for Bodom, Boris gave that album a 60% with a "it's more coherent," so life ain't that bad. I bought HateCrew a while ago but I didn't bring it with me to Indiana. I figured I had enough new music to absorb, right? Wrong.

Why the fuck does everybody care about them? I was a little uneasy about the shift they made to focusing on the power-metal-style solo vocals, instead of the usual choir vocals. Disc 2 didn't have my undivided attention when I played it last night, I'll have to give the whole thing another listen.

I'm just different I guess. If I'm going to put a patch on my clothes of a band then I have listened to like the majority of their stuff and they've gotta strike me as something special. Not just buy an album and BAM slap their logo on my jacket just make my 'image' seem more hardcore. But this will be realized as soon as someone walks up and says "isn't Bridge of Death awesome?" and u have no idea wtf they're talking about.

Not trying to pick on anyone, just my :2cents:

That is a good point I guess. My aunt actually got me a Rolling Stones T-shirt for christmas the same time she bought me a CD and I wasn't even sure if I liked them enough to wear it. Thankfully, I do.:D

I totally agree, actually. I refuse to put a patch on my jacket unless I'm intimately familiar with their work. I don't want to make it seem like I care deeply about a band that I only have one album of.

I wear the Harley Davidson and Marine Corps patchs to honor my grandfather. Neither are metal, so your argument is void. If you dont understand the importance of motorcycles and the Armed Forces to my family, myself, and our Nation's history, then that is your loss.....I can take off the Graveworm and Napalm Death patches (both of which were gifts, not purchases), but the others I leave on.

I dont wear the jacket to draw attention or get pointed out as metal. Sure, its cool when someone 'recognizes', but that isnt the purpose. I was mocked by two Converge punks for having a cross on my left arm. Do you think I am going to go home and cut it off because it isnt metal? NO! Fuck you if you dont like me, my tastes, or my beliefs...because your not going to change them....Sure, the Graveworm and ND patches can come off, for legitimate reasons....but for people to criticize me for 'pretending' to be metal, or for being a Christians is weak and cowardly.

If you need alcohol to enhance your life, then you have problems.....If you need a drug to reach a state of euphoria (anti-depressants, alcohol, etc), then you are either mentally ill or just weak. A friend of the family lost her brother to a heart condition, and she cried for weeks. They put her on zoloft to make her stop crying. Her baby was born with a heart murmur, and she started crying. They threatened to put her back on medication...is that natural? NO! If you need a drug to create emotions or suppress emotions, or if you are a doctor that hands out prescriptions like coupons, then you are a coward.

And if you need to get chicks drunk just so they will hang out with you, then that says a whole lot about your character/personality (or lack there of.)

Well then I guess I am just too accustomed to it that anything else seems really tame in comparison. Vodka is definitely tops though. Next time though I'll look out for some whiskey, except we don't have any upstairs so I'd have to rely on someone else, which ends up bad usually :hecho:

I get that whenever I tell people  Oh man I have a good story, this one bitch was asking for some of the stuff I had brought this one time, and she didnt know that was what I was having, so I was like "Oh here try this", and it was the Polish firewater, and she ran outside and dunked her head in this water cooler  The first few times its really intense on the throat, but its effective if you want to get drunk fast. It's basically pure concentrated alocohol and nothing else :eyes:

I don't want to raise my kids to have to specifically like metal or rock or w/e, I want them to chose what they want for themselves so by doing that it seems like one would be already indirectly forcing them/molding them into a specific form. I know that's not the intent obviously and it's a very cute shirt and a cute idea but I dunno if I'd buy it for my kid.

Once you reach an age of maturity, you can be free to make a choice....just like most here probably didnt grow up listening to metal as children. But telling your child it doesnt matter what they believe in while they are in their delevopmental years could have bad resultings, such as the cult of moral grayness and indifference.

I dunno dude, my dad always tried to get me into sports as a kid and I grew up to think sports is pretty retarted.

I just think that metal is a sort of, rebellious music, and if some kid is raised to think its normal he might rebell against it and become a hardcore Coldplay fan or something. And that would be totally fucked up :hecho:

perhaps....but music is music. I dont see how DIO is sticking it to the man...I certainly didnt get into metal to rebel, because I think that degrades the genre, if the only reason I listen to it is to feed my confused teenage emotions...It sorta cheapens the musicianship, IMO.

I won't force my beliefs on my child. While raising him/her, I'll continue to go about my life the way I would before they were born with the exception of taking care of them, and if they like the things that I do naturally, then cool, and if not, oh well.

In theory.

Well yeah, that is the best way to do it. I dont plan on 'forcing' my child to worship, vote, support the same team, or listen to the same music as me......but dont children typically do what their parents do, because they want to be 'just like dad', and if I am being a Christian, Conservative, 49ers fan, metalhead around my son, wont he pick up on that?

Hell...my brothers like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Rob Zombie, and DIO....I never forced it on them, just exposed it to them....

Or just rebel against all that. It's kind of a coin toss there.

My brother used to listen to Floyd, Zeppelin, Priest and Maiden...now he listens to My Chemical Romance, Gorillaz, AFI, and Panic! At the Disco. I disagree with his decisions, but at least they're his own.
