So how much does an album cost in England, how much did all that cost, and how does it relate to the whole "everything there is more expensive than it is in the USA" cos around here, I'd probably need $200 for that many albums.

I snagged the last copy of Porcupine Tree from CD-Wow because they were randomly knocking it out for £2.99, and Stone Sour from HMV for £4.99.

Everything else is from your country via third-party sellers on Amazon Marketplace.

If I'd bought all of those at full price in stores it would have been at least £150 ($300). Which is why I never do.

So to answer your question, it relates quite closely.

So you buy most albums used online then?

So you buy them used online?

No, all brand new. Don't own a single used CD, happily.

Buying them in store in America would be a little tricky ;) Although most of them actually come from US stores who just use Amazon as their online store instead of setting up their own. Many of the things I get are actually shop stock.

Gotcha, that makes sense. Sometimes there's a different "price" at work though. Example: I bought a "new" copy of Land Of The Free off Amazon.com for christmas for about $4.00. When I got it, the lyrics book wasn't in the CD Case! I wasn't sure if I got a used copy without the booklet or if it was an Amzon fuck up (which if it was, I had no clue how to complain).

Sorry, to answer your question on the price by the way, the whole lot came to £31.32, plus a total of £9.92 in postage.

Porcupine Tree - £2.99 (free p&p)
Down - £6.54 (£1.24 p&p)
Tim's Favourite - £4.11 (£1.24 p&p)

I love No Reservations to an almost irrational degree. And yeah, that drunken rant rules (he shits on Rachael Ray the hardest  ) Nothing like a chain-smoking, hard-drinking, world-traveling cook to get me excited.

And the book is awesome too, he's not recycling stuff from the show at all.

I got Friday tickets, on the off-chance I might have a family affair to attend on Saturday. I didn't buy for Thursday, but that's my choice for a second show, if I can get the money together, since it'll surely sell the slowest. :)

Don't forget tolls are like another 20 bucks, and parking can cost alot in some areas too, and if you've never driven in the city before it's easy to get lost. You might be better off taking a bus.

So hold on a second. Gas prices were expnensive back in 2003-2004 which may-may not have been the result of lobbying for us to go to Iraq. 5 years later, we've "conquered Iraq"* and now gas prices are worse than ever.

*Ok, maybe we haven't conquered it, but haven't we been there long enough to warrant gas prices going down?

So hold on a second. Gas prices were expnensive back in 2003-2004 which may-may not have been the result of lobbying for us to go to Iraq. 5 years later, we've "conquered Iraq"* and now gas prices are worse than ever.

*Ok, maybe we haven't conquered it, but haven't we been there long enough to warrant gas prices going down?

its because there is zero iraqi oil on the market right now. after the us went in we shut down their oil exports so now the other companies can have a monopoly over it and make thier billions of dollars of proit every year.

remember 8 years ago, before the war, when gas was 1.50? one of the reasons for the war was for oil, but dont think it meant the oil was for you or me. prices are never coming down, itll probably be over $4 before memorial day.

I like how you changed "Heaven and Hell" to Dio Era: Black Sabbath

I personally don't even feel I should call it Heaven and Hell, it's just Dio era Sabbath. I could understand the reason to discern between the two if the past had been different, but when the lineup was originally together it was called Black Sabbath... not to mention all the other albums where it was just Tony and all other otherwise non-Sabbath members (despite the quality of the albums). If Tony was fine calling it Sabbath then, there's absolutely no reason why he should hesitate to do so now.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it's still Tony. They pretty much say they don't want to tour under the name Black Sabbath so there's no obligation to play Ozzy era songs. In reality, my guess is they are totally free to use the name Black Sabbath, but choose not to as technically Black Sabbath with Ozzy still exists, and as its coming up on its 40th year anniversary, I'm sure they will do a tour, or something. It'd be kind of confusing to have two bands with the same guitarist and bassist, but different vocalists and drummers all under the same banner - at almost the same time.

EC's analysis was quite valid, but I don't really care for this.
Any idiot who doesn't care enough to realize what's going on before he buys tickets to a show is taking his own risk. It's the same as people who got all offended when Maiden played all of AMOLAD or WASP played all of The Crimson Idol on a tour called "THE CRIMSON IDOL 15TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR". Either do the research to know what you're getting, or don't bitch when don't get what you falsely expect.

Mob Rules - Hallowed Be Thy Name

It's seriously called that? This looks like one of my typing mistakes.

if it is then thats one of the most unoriginal band/album names ive seen in awhile. i hate when bands just steal classic song titles and assume that makes them metal.

Turns out Ravenheart made the typing mistake, the album is called Hollowed Be Thy Name.

But not when they steal it from a line in a prayer in the first place? Maiden hardly thought of it by themselves.

Indeed it is. I was buying things so quickly and adding them to the list one by one I didn't notice ;)

I love when that one Amazon seller slashes prices on random metal to £2 a disc.

turning a bible passage into a metal song, creative (for the time anyway)

turning an already popular metal song into an album name by a band named after another popular metal album, not creative

Oh my god, I can't even imagine the reaction you would have if you HEARD Mob Rules. Haha. Seriously, I love power/traditional metal, but most of their stuff is just fucking lame.

Prior to getting Hollowed Be Thy Name I have Among The Gods, which I rate highly, the live DVD/CD (CD is great, DVD is shit) and the latest one (Ethnolution AD?) which I've barely listened to, but remember it being OK.

Ethnolution AD is seriously in the very bottom tier of my CD collection, I really can't stomach listening to most of it it's so generically lame.

I've heard Hollowed Be Thy Name, it's much better but still decent at best, and I hear Among the Gods is about the same... all I've heard from it is the bonus track, the Savatage cover, "All That I Bleed", which I only wanted out of curiosity and love of the original.
