He's entertaining to read, for sure. And he makes basically any point you could use to justify atheism.

Is he a dick about it? Like, "Man, those Christians. They are so stupid. I wish everyone was an atheist like me."

I mean, I'm not religious, but I respect other people's right to believe whatever.

I bought (with gift cards)

Rush--Snakes & Arrows

He calls people out on being what he calls "I'm-an-atheist-BUT" atheists. He just doesn't think people who are atheists should keep it polite and quiet.

Today my friends and I made a pilgrimage to a record shop we've long had hyped up to us. To say the least, it more than met it's expectations. I spent $93, and could've easily spent much more, but I had set a prior limit of $100.

I got:

Brazen Abbot - My Resurrection
Firewind - Breaking the Silence (single)
Blind Guardian - Imaginations From the Other Side (2007 remaster w/ bonus tracks and videos)
Pink Cream 69 - Electrified (w/ bonus tracks and videos)
Galloglass - Heavenseeker (w/ bonus tracks and bonus DVD)
Savatage - Handful of Rain (finally, I've had it burned for years now)
Destynation - Rising Up (w/ bonus video)

Well, I already knew Jello Biafra had a kickass voice, I'd been listening to a lot of Minor Threat and Black Flag lately, and the cover of In God We Trust, Inc. is incredibly badass.

In the past 48 I have spent an insane ammount of money between a trip to Vintage Vinyl, an FYE gift card I got for Christmas, and amazon credit I got for selling off some stuff. Here is the full list of everything I got.

Threshold - Wounded Land Special Edition
Tad Morose - Matters of the Dark
The Flower Kings - Stardust We Are
Vanden Plas - Colour Temple/AcCult special two disc set
Porcupine Tree - Voyage 34
Fish - Fellini Days
Asia - Fantasia Live in Tokyo
Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth
Dead Soul Tribe - A Murder of Crows
Pyscho Motal - Welcome to the World
Neal Morse - ? Live
Marillion - Kayleigh
Explorer's Club - Age of Impact

Luckily thanks to gift card and credit only $120ish came out of pockit. Still way to much money that I shouldn't be spending lol.

I'll let you know. I have Ambiguity, which is their third album, the one before Metus Mortis. It's excellent. The thing that gives me a little doubt about Hungry and Unholy is that it's not Andy Franck singing. We'll see.

Plus the reissues are kind of strange, which is why I've been waiting before buying them. They're both 2CDs, but in each case the the first CD is a new remaster and the second is the original master. The same album twice. Unholy has the original bonus tracks from various import versions included, plus their two 1996 demos. Hungry has their 1994 demo included. But being 2CDs, the prices are generally higher. They should have just put out the remasters with the demos as bonus tracks on one disc.

Their new album should be out in March, so fingers crossed. They cancelled a planned European tour with Brainstorm in order to finish it. Brainstorm are doing the tour anyway, with a few changes, and Pagan's Mind have replaced Evergrey.

PPUKIII will be Evergrey's first show of the year and the debut of some new material.

Well I've been meaning to do it but haven't had my car for the past 5 months. I haven't done a meetup group but I'll be voting come tuesday, even though I'm sure the Diebold failsafe will select a better canidate for me.

They probably got rid of them because people these days are more health-concious, and most folks aren't looking to buy a big ol' box of grease for dinner.

Okay, I know I'll probably break some people's hearts with this post, but I basically only take three people's recommendations seriously because of their overwhelmingly good tastes: Nick, Brady, and Scott. Sometimes I can't trust Nick on punk or Brady on black metal because they really like those genres, but if two of those guys concur that an album or band is awesome, I'm inclined to listen. And if all three do (as with Tegan and Sara), there's either a conspiracy or something is seriously great.

And Dylan has good taste too, but with the exception of his odd fascination with Japanese music, we listen to all the same shit.

Great on record. Pretty dull live. I have several albums now, they're all good. And yes, JSS on vocals and Pontus Norgren on guitar. Also check out Pontus' solo album with Mats Leven on vocals. Awesome stuff.

Exactly. :fist: When I pre ordered the last Maiden album it came with a shirt! Im happy to spend money on vinyls (especially from these dudes http://www.nightofthevinyldead.com/dueindex.htm ) because you're getting something cool from them. Maybe if CDs were > 10 bucks it would be more reasonable, but I see no reason to buy a CD that may or may not be good, just so I can rip the songs to my PC anyway, and then what, have a plastic disk to put up on my shelf? Big deal.

I'm not really saying you should steal music, but dont support a bad trend in the industry with your money if you disagree with it. If the record companies want my money let them do something creative like add a patch or a poster or a "golden ticket" type thing, i dunno, they spend millions of dollars on marketing let them figure it out.

No, all new. Between (the rough equivalent of) $5 and $10 each.

$14 for a new album (as in new out) is good! Over here you would only get the most popular, top-of-the-chart stuff for that. Everything else would be around $20 for new albums by uncool but popular bands (like Maiden), up to over $30 for stuff no one's heard of.

Everything I buy I get cheap, because I have no desire anymore to get things as soon as they're released. I have, and continue to buy, so much music that I'm happy to wait for the price of an album to be sensible. That usually means getting things from the USA, but whatever.

Yeah. I love Faces also... a very neat and original album. Pins and Needles just sucks in every way you can imagine. Sounds like it was written in about the duration of the disc time, the production and performances in general are really lackluster and weak, Chris just moans and bitches a lot and the music is completely nu-garbage.

He's already started writing his next one ;)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Its pretty good, but the "Wii" graphics can be a bit distracting. The best part about it is that you can use Gamecube controllers and the "Melee" characters for the most part have the same moves, so you are relatively at the same skill level if you use it.

I've heard both with James Rivera, Xiled to Infinity and One, and the new one, Deadly Sins I believe. Pretty mediocre stuff as a whole, despite the occasionally catchy songs. I think Wade Black and Allan Techio are both much better than Rivera.

Fair enough, so you've got it twice as good as all the kids here who earn minimum wage and have to drive 20 miles to work in terms of expenditure. What is your minimum wage these days? I honestly have no idea. I couldn't say with certainty what ours is either.

Edit: Found out ours. Rough conversions it's $6.80 per hour for ages 16-18, $9 for 18-21 inclusive, $11 for 22 and above.

Absolutely everything here is higher than yours. Taxes, property prices, fuel costs, everything. These days this is a ridiculously expensive country to live in. Unfortunately it's the most apathatic and lazy country to live in as well, so no one votes with their feet on anything and everything continues to go up.

US federal minimum wage is $5.84 per hour, will change to 6.55 in July of this year, but it's not really giving you more money just compensating for inflation. However some states have it set higher.

$7 here. Ohio has one of the most conservative legislatures in the Union (very very 2nd amendment, and we even passed a Super Patriot Act 2, because the federal one wasnt good enough)...but when the Dems took over, they hiked up the minimum wage. :rocker:

I'm no fortune teller, but I have a feeling the reasons will be the war and our poor economic policies. And you guys are feeling this massive economic burden because your government supports ours in its imperial conquests. I just figured people over there would care a little more. Unless you put your message on an extra-large McDonalds cup, behind a little sticker, most people dont give a shit.
