It's not that great. My friend got one like 3 years ago and it was one of the worst guitars I've ever played, no joke. Absolutely uncomfortable and the tone sucks. If you want anything good to come out of it, start by replacing the pickups, but even that won't save it.

My friend has the exact same model and it always felt good to me, and I am going to switch the pick ups soon. Over all for the price that I got it I can't really complain.

My birthday is in 5 days, and I am getting a messenger bag (army surplus), maybe watch, maybe a flask, and a few patches.

On the back of my new bag, I am going to put patches of countries I have been to (Sweden, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic), and I just bought 10mini-buttons: "Focus on your own family", Peace sign, 666, "Love is Love" (with two gay couples and a straight couple holding hands), MLK face, Eugene Debs face, Ron Paul 2008, Obama 2008, "God is Dead", and Thor's Hammer.

Surprisingly good. I don't think that I had heard of them before. I happened to read a couple of favorable reviews so I hit their MySpace to listen to the two songs they have on the site and that was all it took to convince me. Like The Oar Strikes The Water is a really cool song. The entire CD is good in my opinion.

Cool. I have all of their other albums, so if the new one is good that's perhaps not so surprising to me ;)

The catalogue is kind of in two halves at the moment. The self-titled and 'Monument' are mostly the slow kind of doom (damn good though), then they changed with 'Wolf's Return' to a more varied Candlemass/Cathedral approach.

Get them all ;)

I would agree that the new one is not really what I would consider a traditional doom album but it does have elements of the sound. The song on their MySpace from Monument does sound really good so I may have to check out more of their stuff. Do you know how they pronounce the band name?

You can get everything he ever recorded in a 10-disc box set ;)

But on the face of it, The Essential Hank Williams looks to be the most comprehensive best of. Two discs, 52 songs.

My country tastes currently stretch as far as Waylon, Hank Jr. and Shooter. Don't like Hank III, or Merle so far. I have all of Shooter's albums so far, and what you see above is the extent of my Hank Jr. and Waylon collection. Hank Jr.'s albums are so damn cheap - which is great.

New release coming soon... Waylon and Shooter were in the middle of recording an album together when Waylon died. Shooter's finishing the album, to be called 'Waylon Forever', and it'll be out October 21 (20 here). Should be awesome. http://www.waylonforever.com/

When I first came here, I was mocked because 'all you listen to is metalcore.' \When I think of you, I think power metal...because out of everyone else here, you know the most (or at least seem to know the most) about power metal/progressive metal. Deal with it.

You can see why all the kids are into them and not proper power metal bands though, can't you?

"OMG they can play so fast, they're so skillful".

"OMG they can play so fast, they're so skillful".

Yeah, it's really pathetic.
I'm one of the few people I know who actually knew who Dragonforce were well before the popularity onslaught hit. I got Valley of the Damned back in 2004 sometime and I was like: "This is kinda cool. It's really cheesy and rediculous but it's cool for what it is", and that was fine.
But I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucking sick of seeing them on the covers of magazines calling them "the saviors of metal" and this that and the other thing. They are awful songwriters, only relying on wanking as a crutch... and the worst part is that they can't even pull off a lot of their shit live. The one time I saw them live I couldn't have been less enthused about the performance. With each passing album the songs just get more absurd and less good, though they're carbon copies of their previous work. It's like not even power metal anymore, it's like hyperspeed robot garbage that makes me want to stab someone to death.

I dont consider them power metal. Heroes of our time is a fun song, but I wouldnt consider it spectacular.

And I hate all the deathcore and otherwise hipsters at my school talking about how brutal JFAC are and how insanely awesome and metal Dragonforce are.

Kids today think that if something is fast, loud, and/or screamed, it is brutal.

Why should I give a shit if a bunch of douchebags like them? Do you know how many douchebags like Iron Maiden? And they're my favorite band. And if you think they're ridiculous, don't buy the albums or go to the shows. I for one enjoy their music, like the new album quite a bit, and will be attending the live shows. It's not DragonForce's fault they get put on the cover of guitar world, and they can't help what magazines say about them or who listens to them. Just enjoy the music, or don't. It's that simple.

Edit: And you can hardly call them awful songwriters. I'd like to know a band who has as many blatantly catchy hooks as DragonForce. And on the fact that their songs are all the same speed and similarly structured, well so are Dio's. I'm not some huge DragonForce fanboy, but 'm sick of someone getting bashed on here everytime they mention the band.

I just don't know how anyone could listen to a whole album of that.

It's not hard to have a lot of catchy hooks when they are all essentially the same set of like 2 or 3. And on the similarity thing, I've never heard another band NEARLY as bad as Dragonforce. They seriously only have two types of songs. Hyperspeed Cheddar Assaults and Ballads. That's it. And they will have 7 of type A and 1 of type B on each album. All their songs sound exactly the same.

Well I can clearly tell all their songs apart, and so can thousands of other people. So like I said, if you don't like it; dont listen to them but don't just trash them every time they're brought up.
