These are the bands I've been seriously digging lately, and with Christmas around the corner, I'll be most likely getting some cash with which to buy some CDs. So gimme some help. I'll list the ones I already have after the band name so you don't recommend me those:

Clutch- Clutch, Pure Rock Fury
Tool- 10,000 Days
Yes- Close to the Edge, Drama, Talk, Magnification
King Crimson- In the Court of the Crimson King, Red
Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall, The Division Bell
Peter Gabriel- So, Us, Up

Thanks in advance :horns:

I didn't ask for low budget garage produced power metal bullshit.

How about some high quality bullshit power metal? The latest Rhapsody studio album is a damn fine effort, although I can't reccommend their live ablum enough. Sonata Arctica's recent live album is pretty good too. Even Bouville likes Gamma Ray's Majestic. You can't go wrong with any of these.

I'm not in a power metal mood, but I'm definitely a fan of Sonata Arctica. Gamma Ray not so much and Rhapsody not at all. But if anyone has suggestions for the listed bands, my ears are open ;)

are you kidding me? They are most professional sounding for their first album...besides, you said you liked them a little.

How about this then...

My suggested album according to your list: Pink Floyd - Meddle (if you want some serious Floyd) or Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (if you want something to laugh about).

My suggested album according to me: Dire Straits - Private Investigations

3rd, garage-produced? I think not
Power metal? Meh, I don't think so

While I agre, I think I'm pretty well-off in that department. I'm sure I have some CDs by power metal bands that would really shock some people... the degree to which I'm into some of it, even the more underground stuff can be frightning at times.
