Tony Martin and his band did a blistering gig last night in my small town of Växjö. Not even 100 people bothered to show up in a venue that would probably hold over 1,000 so it was very empty but the for all of us who attended it was a night to remember. To hear 3 tracks from my fav Sabs-album, Cross Purposes, was not something I´d bother dreaming about since it seemed all too improbable, but last night my eyes wet when Dying for love started. Tony´s son, Joe, pulled of the intro-solo like it was mr. Iommi himself and I was in HEAVEN!!!!
Truly a night I will not forget. A great set, great performance, Tony sang a lot better this time than in 1995 when I saw with Sabbath, and the setlist is a KILLER! As for the two vintage Sab-songs, which he of course didn´t originally sing on, he merely did them as tributes to the Sabs as he loved singing them. Who am I to complain :)
Setlist:
Lawmaker
Devil & daughter
Eternal idol
The hand that rocks the cradle
Dying for love
I witness
Odin´s court
Valhalla
When death calls
Children of the sea
War pigs
Raising hell
Scream
The shining
Headless cross
