Okay, so I'm gonna give you a little review of my night seeing Sonata Arctica.

Me and my girlfriend arrived at the venue about 6:15, and met up with some friends and waited in line. The doors opened at 7:00, and there was only me, my girlfriend, our four friends, and another couple waiting in line. So the 8 of us walked in and my girlfriend got a shirt and we walked into the venue. The place started filling up with dumbass hardcore kids to see the opening bands, and were acting pretty obnoxious. About 8:00 the first band ' Fall To Prey ' hit the stage.

They are a local hardcore band and really, really sucked. It was just awful. The mix was horrible and couldn't hear the guitars, or vocals, just drums. Which was probably for the best, because the guy screamed like a pansy. They played for about thirty minutes and I was pretty stoked that they were finished. I give them a 2/10.

The next band was called The Absence and they were pretty much metal-core, but had some very cool guitar solos, and some poudning drums. The band was very tight, just I was not keen on the hardcore vocal screaming. I enjoyed the music of this band, just not the vocals. Oh, and the singer grabbed my head and screamed in my face. :eyes:

After a long, long, long, fucking wait, the lights dimmed and the intro music played. Sonata came out and launched right into ' Misplaced ' the opening track off of the Reckoning Night album. They were on top of things let me tell you! Tony Kakko is a tremendous and very funny frontman, running around the stage, flipping the mic stand and constantly interacting with the fans. During the song ' Fullmoon ', which just happens to my favorite song, Tony hands me the mic and lets me sing the ' RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! ' I was sooo sooo happy!! And during a song in the medley, Jani put the neck of his guitar towards me and told me to push down a fret and he played it! It was awesome! Towards the end of set, my voice was gone and my legs were dead tired, and Tony gave me his water bottle and said ' You look like you need this! ' It was sooo awesome to have soo much interaction with the band, it was really an amazing feeling. After the encore, they were throwing out picks and stuff and I started walking away and Jani told me to come back to the stage and gave me their SETLIST!!!! I was sooo sooo happy, I was just on cloud nine! I went home with a huge smile on my face, and a setlist, water bottle, and a sore body. I give them a 10/10!!!
