Release date is Oct 28 on Relapse Records.

From the songs they've been playing live it sounds like we can expect the same old World Demise / Back from the Dead rehash songs that they've been churning out since reforming. If that's what you like, get excited. If not, don't waste your time.

This will be a reliably solid album, as always.

Here's the studio version of Visions In My Head:

:eyes: That drum sound is pretty bad. It sounds a little groovier than I would have thought.... and not in a good way.

Also, didn't they do a kickstarter that finished at like 600% of their goal so they could release the album independently? So did they pay for the recording and are just using Relapse for distribution? If not then their whole kickstarter was kind of a lie.

From what I understand from Jari from Wintersun's bitching, a Kickstarter campaign goes directly to the label to help the band. Seems kinda ass backwards to me.

I'm not sure how I feel about this song. Maybe it'll grow more, maybe I'll dislike it more, right now I just don't have a reaction to it yet.

Ermmmm.... hmmm... yeah that is a bit sketchy. Obviously depending on the label, either the band pays for recording, or the label does.... and like... the label keeps a portion of the money of sales. Hmm.... and with a band like Obituary I am sure the label loans them a lot of money to get the recording done.... :eyes:

They signed to Replase this summer. The kickstarter was last year. Not saying it isn't questionable, but they probably had the album done before signing to Relapse.

I caught the song Visions in My Head on the radio today. Musically it was pretty beefy, nothing out of the ordinary for Obituary. But something with the vocals sounded off to me. I don't know if he was holding back or if he had too much compression on them. They didn't have that usually drippy, wet sound to them. It sounded like someone trying to sound like John Tardy.

I can't say I'll seek this album out but if I see it in a store and it's a reasonable price I may pick it up.
