Probably easier to do favorite guitar work instead of best. That's a tough one.

Agreed, that's what I should have put. Don't want annoying comments about how generic my list is, how it's a complete disregard to so many other classic albums, etc.

Solid opening top ten!

Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power, Animals As Leaders self-titled, Meshuggah's Catch 33 and Jeff Loomis' first solo album would be in there for me. All of those are just on another plane in terms of the guitar and what can be done with song-writing and sounds with a guitar.

Any of Steve Morse's solo albums (as opposed to SMB albums). Book of Shadows. Something by Trace Bundy. Something by Savatage. Diary of A Madman.

I'd also be tempted to go for Train of Thought. I know their heavier direction wasn't entirely appreciated by most, but the guitar playing on that disc is a different class.

6.Ozzy Osbourne - The Ultimate Sin

Not even the best guitar work on an Ozzy Osbourne album.

It does have my favorite Ozzy riff, Shot In The Dark.

Guthrie Govan, Allan Holdsworth and Chuck Shuldiner deserve a mention. Oh, and Joe Pass, Django Reinhardy, Al Di'Meola, John McLaughlin and Paco De Lucia. If you're a guitar fan and haven't listened to Friday Night In San Francisco, you're doing yourself a disservice.

That is a good one, but as a whole album the playing isn't in the same league as Diary of A Madman, Blizzard of Ozz, and No Rest For The Wicked.

That or the same joke has been around for so long it's a cliche now ;)

I knew you of all people would get it. But I know not that many people here are aware of him besides hearing his name.
