Last night, I was looking at the lineup for Riot Fest 2014. Slayer was announced, Clutch was announced, Gwar was announced… wait, Gwar?!

Yeah, according to The PRP, Gwar are scheduled to play the September 12 through 14 dates of the festival in Chicago and I am extremely confused. Are the band going on without Oderus Urungus? Are they going to do a Suicide Silence-type deal and do a bunch of songs with guest vocals? At first I thought this was something only The PRP was reporting, but Riot Fest's Facebook seems to have the poster for the event as well:

Personally, it would be hard to accept anybody but Brockie behind the mic for a Gwar show. At the same time it would be selfish of us fans to think that the rest of the band shouldn't go on with their careers as musicians in Gwar (or otherwise), a job they've been doing for 30 years, as they basically know nothing else. So we'll take a wait and see attitude to how this plays out.

Update: MetalSucks reached out to a band rep who confirmed this is not a mistake and that “Riot Fest is keeping GWAR’s spot warm for them and something will happen.”

That's quite interesting to see! I wonder who will replace David then. I'm sure we'll hear something soon.

No, unless the Riot Fest thread was buried into a QR thread.

I thought this was important enough to start a new thread over.

Dimebag is going to do a guest drum solo on their first EP in 1983.

Dave Brockie, April 23, 2013
I’ve always said GWAR is the band that could last 1000 years. I don’t know how long we’ll be doing this; how long this current line up will be doing GWAR- probably years and years- but I was completely serious when I said we would probably have other people replace us at some point and the band would just continue on and on. Son of Oderus? I don’t know if anyone will keep up with Oderus but he’ll probably have a kid at some point who will probably kill and eat him and take his job.

From what I understand from what some friends in the RVA scene told me a little while back, Brockie was going to retire in two years anyway. I'm very sure that GWAR will continue.

The rumor on Reddit and The PRP is that Andrew WK may be the replacement. But, y'know, it's Reddit and The PRP, so take it for what it is.

gonna assume you mean the prp comments, as there has not been anything reported by the site itself

It isn't legit until its reported by WOLVERINEKILLS, we all know this by now.

I'm hearing rumors that since LOG isn't touring Randy will be doing the Riot Fest Chicago show.

They should have Frank Mullen as Oderus.

From the depths of the GWAR temple, beneath the frozen wasteland of Antarctica, mutant penguins swim towards America with news of GWAR’s triumphant return to the stage as the headliner at this year’s GWAR B-Q. The 5th annual gathering of meat, metal and mayhem will take place on Saturday, August 16th at Hadad’s Lake
(www.hadadslake.com) in Richmond, VA. Scientists work around the clock to translate the high-pitched chatter of the mutant penguin hoard as they approach landfall.

Conflicting reports indicate that GWAR’s performance will be lead by none other than, original recipe Beefcake the Mighty aka Mike Bishop or quite possibly it was misinterpreted as the Colonel’s original chicken recipe. Who knows? Be there to find out for yourself as this historic metal event unfolds.

Other random Facebook posts and tweets confirm that original Scumdog members will descend on the GWAR B-Q to bear witness to a Viking funeral for Oderus Urungus, whose form will burn upon the SS Boat as he makes his journey back to Valhalla and beyond. This public memorial will be held from 4pm-7pm on Friday, August 15th at Hadad’s Lake (www.hadadslake.com) in Richmond, VA. and is open to even the lowliest of bohabs.

The nut busting anticipation mounts as bohabs from across the globe await the release of GWAR B-Q ticket sale date, June 6th. How do I get tickets, you ask? Tickets will be sold exclusively on the GWAR B-Q website at (www.gwarbq.com). Tickets will be available in three options:

Standard- $45 Ticket – All day entry
