From Eddie Trunk's latest blog
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/Davidian/imagejpg1.jpg

Rob Halford: “You want us to tour?! We were just talking about the record, and now we’re on the road?! Nah, I’m just having a laugh. I know that while we were in the studio writing, you listen to ‘March of the Damned,’ and I’d go, ‘God, I can’t wait to play this on stage.’ Or ‘Metalizer’ – ‘Man, this is going to just tear the place up.’ We’re reflecting on that possibility right now. So as and when this happens, we’ll be doing the usual thing and announcing it on our website here. But I think it’s fair to say we will be doing some live work – before the end of the year.”

So I guess they weren't done touring(and seems legit since Trunk also broke the news of their "Epitaph" tour in 2011, actually about 3 years ago this week).

Of all the bands that have lied about farewell tours, I'm happiest about this.

ravenheart

They actually said they're done with long world tours, but will still play some shows.

If this "tour" ends up being a handful of dates in major markets, then it's basically exactly what they said they'd do.

What matters is they're touring, and assuming the US since why else would Eddie Trunk be posting it

Yeah it sucks. It's a Casino thats on the right over the border into Indiana from Chicago. All 21+ shows. They've had Priest before, BLS, a ton of great stand up, Megadeth is coming up I think too.

Hell yeah that's great news, hoping to catch them again. The Epitaph tour was fucking killer! I can remember the line for beer was the longest I've ever seen in my life. The two bars on opposite sides of the venue had lines so long they almost met in the center of the floor

Piroxen

Yeah, the tour was great. I'd love if they changed their setlist a bit from show to show, but I understand that it may be too hard for them. However, I want them to do major changes in their future setlist - no more Living After Midnight, and more stuff from Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin and Stained Class. Fuck, I have to see Dreamer Deceiver & Deceiver live. :flame:

Yes, perhaps, but I don't believe that he can't sing Better by You, Better Than Me, while they were playing Beyond the Realms of Death during Epitaph tour. And when he can hit high notes on Victim of Changes, and decided to play The Sentinel which is utterly-fucking-unbelievably hard song to sing, he would perhaps sing Dreamer Deceiver (without the outro, I guess no one could hit these notes he hit almost 40 years ago.

Some debuts would be also nice to witness.

ravenheart

Some debuts would be also nice to witness.

Agreed. The best Priest set I've ever seen was the 2008 tour when they dumped all but about five of the hits and played a load of rare stuff.

Sadly, I would imagine any touring they do now will be limited engagement type stuff, which will mean hits sets and a couple of new songs.

Piroxen
05-07-2014, 07:50 AM
We will see, how many of new songs they will play, because, it always makes me laugh, when I think that they played only 2 songs from Nostradamus which contained 23 tracks. I guess that the similiar thing will happen to Redeemer of Souls. I'd get rid of Turbo Lover and British Steel stuff not including Rapid Fire and add United if they had to play more than just one track from BS. Also no Night Crawler, but Hell Patrol and one more song from Painkiller. More deep cuts from Defenders of the Faith would be wonderful.

I'd cut my limbs off for Run of the Mill and Sad Wings of Destiny in its entirety.

PVH5150
05-07-2014, 07:52 AM
The last tour had some great stuff (Judas Rising, Starbreaker, Blood Red Skies, Never Satisfied, Night Crawler)

I'd like to hear the following.

Heavy Metal
Leather Rebel
Living Bad Dreams
Prisoner of Your Eyes
Hellrider
Alone
Delivering the Goods

Ram it Down is very underappreciated album, particularly because of its drumming which sounded like drum machine. I like that album very much and would like to see more tracks from it, it was amazing when they added Blood Red Skies to the Epitaph tour setlist.

I'd rather hear some '70s material. Rob seems to do a good job of adapting the old material to his current abilities, so I don't think it's out of the question. I'm not counting on anything special, but I'm still hoping that one day they'll bring back Tyrant. I'd love to hear Exciter too.

Rob could totally do Tyrant and a good majority of the 70s stuff, but Exciter I'd be wary about. He wasn't too great on that song on the Rising in the East DVD and most of that song (both the studio and the Unleashed in the East versions) is sung in a register that I don't think he has anymore.

They did play St. Louis back in 2011. But get used to disappointment because St. Louis gets skipped quite often. It has been a little better the last couple of years, but I have to go to Chicago most of the time. Indy doesn't get nearly as many shows either.

No, it's not but i'm a supervisor where I work and I usually work the evening shift on wednesday's. So, I would either have to request it off or switch with another supervisor to go. I'm already taking the day off for the King Diamond show, that way I don't have to work during the day, get out and rush up to Toronto. Judas Priest
Korn
Stone Temple Pilots
Chester Bennington
Limp Bizkit
Alter Bridge
Mastodon
Theory of a Deadman
Of Mice and Men
Steel Panther
Memphis May Fire
Pop Evil

It's weird, we usually get Priest. Family Arena must not be open

There will probably be a 2nd leg of this tour sometime in the near future i'm hoping...

After the service charges the tickets for the Rochester show are about $50 each. So, is anyone else seeing them in a general admission venue like I will be or are they playing seated venues everywhere else?

The Tacoma show is general admission on the floor and reserved on the sides.

My show is an arena so both seats and a GA floor if the price is right I'll try to get GA

Welp, tickets are $45-65 and that's w/o fees

Got me and my dad GA tickets for San Jose at $86 a pop. I'd gladly pay that much to see my favorite band and hang out with my dad at the same time.

Lucky. I would give anything to take my dad to a metal show but he's the type that says its "devil music".

Still no info for the PPL center date. Kind of pissed. The venue is only 10 min from my house and is still under construction until august. I called and they didn't even know about the show.:finger2:

On sale Monday at 10AM according to Priest's site.

There are seats on the floor actually. The outer circle of the hall on the ground level is seated. That's where me and the dad will be.

I saw that. That was just updated earlier Saturday. The actual venue still doesn't list anything though. It's still being built so it takes a while for them to post any show.

Ticketmaster only showed seats in the 300 sections for the presale, so I was holding out for the regular sale but the 300 seats were the only seats I ever saw available.

The upper balcony with the 300 seats is the only reserved seating. Check out images of the venue on Google to see the seats that I'm referring to. Unless the venue are dicks and board up those seats or something, I'm pretty sure it's just first come first serve for those seats on the ground level.

Hmm. They already busted out Freewheel Burning on the British Steel Anniversary tour a few years back. Rock Hard, Ride Free and Eat Me Alive both appeared on the Metal Masters tour from '08, and The Sentinel was in during the Epitaph tour.

Halford's solo band often did Jawbreaker, so my money's on that. I hope they skip Freewheel Burning even though I love the song, Priest just don't perform that one as well live. The song is totally out of Rob's current range and the band slow it down a lot.

Yeah that was a huge letdown live. Not to say that they didn't make up for it with Starbreaker.
I'd love to hear a couple extras from Defenders though.

Yup, Rob even struggles on the version of Freewheel that Fight did on that weird EP. Not an easy song to sing by any means.

Starbreaker was easily the best surprise from the Epitaph tour. That track is the definition of a hidden gem on Unleashed in the East. I honestly have pretty high hopes for the older songs in the setlist. Priest always pull out a few really, really cool tracks on every tour they do. In 08 alone they busted out Devil's Child, Eat Me Alive, Rock Hard Ride Free, Dissident Fucking Aggressor, Sinner, Between the Hammer & the Anvil and Hell Patrol. 09 was all the lesser played stuff from British Steel, Freewheel Burning and the full electric version of Diamonds and Rust. Then on Epitaph they had Blood Red Skies, Never Satisfied, Starbreaker and Night Crawler. I'm confident we'll get some cool older stuff that Rob will hopefully be able to handle.

What I'm most worried about are their choices for new songs to play. I have a gut feeling that they're going to choose the least interesting tracks from Redeemer of Souls, them being Dragonaut, the title track and March of the Damned. Seriously, two bucks says that those are the songs chosen. I'd much rather have Halls of Valhalla, Battle Cry, Secrets of the Dead, Cold Blooded, Sword of Damocles and Beginning of the End instead, but I'm gonna bank on that not happening. And if they play fucking Prophecy again, I won't be happy. I can go the rest of my life without ever hearing "I AM NOSTRADAMUS!" again.

Tyrant is short and should be easy to sing, so hopefully they'll dust it off and play it. And even though it was played on the BS tour I wouldn't mind the Ripper. It was so badass last time.

Maybe it's because I like the song so much, but it hasn't even crossed my mind that they wouldn't play Halls Of Valhalla. I think that's one of the the must play songs off the new album. Why even bother recording a song as good as that one if they're not gonna play it?

That's not the point I was trying to make. If we're talking about songs from the back catalog, then you can make that criticism for any band. I was just referring to the material off the new album.

Looking back on that '86 tour, they never played Alexander the Great and still haven't, and Long Distance Runner was played once then dropped.

Those 2 songs are amazing. But yes I get your point.
