I hope Blind Guardian will do a full tour.

They're due for one. I think their schedule over the last fifteen years or so is a US run, everywhere else multiple times around for two years, and then a year off to do an album. Since we got BG in winter/fall 2010, we should definitely expect a tour this year I think.

Yeah they did an October/Nov tour in 2006, and then I saw them early Dec in 2010, so if they don't come this winter I'll be disappointed. I need my BG fix.

I could honestly see Equilibrium open for those two or Ensiferum for a US run.

Been on 4 of the 5 total cruises and booked for this one. Surprising the male to female ratio is higher than a normal metal show, probably due to the international aspect. Germans were the the #1 nationality over Americans last January. And the release of ratio was 37% female 63% male. But Goddamn some of those 37%...

I like to joke about this fest because right when the ship was about to leave, the fest posted on Facebook a picture of the pool and there were about 40 guys in there and I didn't see one woman.

Yea man the hottubs are cesspools of filth. I have yet to set foot in one. Usually crammed with a 10 to 1 ratio. But the chicks that come are awesome because they're usually legit metalheads or extremely scantily clad. Or both.

To echo a previous post, having been on the first one, the male to female ratio is much much better than the average metal show in North America.

The addition of Cannibal Corpse has gotten me really considering booking a cabin for me and the wife.

Hell, I might even take my 11 year old son along. He loves CC and has seen them with me live before.

Are the bands readily available during the cruise to take pictures with and chat with?

Every year they've had multiple signing sessions throughout the cruise. I think I've seen it so every band does one day where they sign early and one day where they sign late. And, of course, they're just hanging out. There's a story of Johan Hegg of Amon Amarth doing drunken karaoke to System of a Down one night with just some random people.

I witnessed this. My buddy also got up and did "Living La Vida Loca" on karoke, and got heckled by Johan and cheered by Burton Bell.

Also, there's no way for the bands to avoid meeting fans, unless they hole up in their rooms all day.

You know I'll forever be pissed and hate myself for never seeing Ronnie James live.

And this morning news about Oderus leaves me feeling sick. However, i'm thankful for having seen them a few times.

That makes me almost convinced to book this trip now.

I've passed on numerous shows or events that I've later regretted. I'd hate to regret not doing this when I'm really wanting to and have the means.

Do it. I have never had as much fun as I do on these cruises. And this one will be bigger and better than they ever have before. The experience cannot be justly put into words.

Think I'll book me and the Mrs today.

She's not into this style of metal, but she'll enjoy the experience.

She's also a cool ass wife who doesn't care if I look at skimply dressed women. The few that will be there I guess.

without trying to sound conceited I have gotten far more random action on the boat than at random shows in Atlanta. Vacation mode / metal mode kicks in and everyone parties. Now don't get me wrong, lots of people are more conservative, go to sleep at a decent time to catch the early shows and are generally more responsible...but a large percentage of us party our asses off the entire trip

I'm finally getting on the cruise for the first time, can't wait! Now I just hope they add some must see bands, so far I have seen them all(the ones I would want to anyway).

True, but you haven't seen them on a boat with the awesome type of metalheads this brings! I saw Cannibal on it in 2012, and the late night pooldeck set is as close to a real life dethklok as I've ever seen. More so than the touring dethklok. Corpsegrinder was also the drunk est cruiser last year, did not change his shirt for 3 days nor sleep. But he was super friendly and approachable, awesome fucking dude.

Is there a date for this yet?

greenReaper
03-25-2014, 06:59 AM
January 22nd-26th 2015. The organizers chose to do thurs-mon this time so people can save money on airfare and hotels. Most people usually arrive a day or 2 early though because there are always pre cruise parties and shows. Last year we got Carcass headlining the official preparty 2 nights before then took chartered buses (some with strippers) from miami to ft lauderdale for Amon Amarth / Enslaved / Skeletonwitch. So 2 solid days of shows and partying before we even got on the boat

OK, the wife doesn't want to go but she has given me the green light to go on my own and have fun.

If anyone here is looking for someone to share a room or has space for 1 more, shoot me an email at xman1102@gmail.com

Well congrats on getting to go on your own! Head over to the official forums for the cruise and there is a whole section on requesting cabin mates and whatnot. Also you can book individually and just room with randoms (I did the first 2 years). This is a pretty good article on what to expect: http://www.metalstorm.net/pub/article.php?article_id=1404
