New Found Glory have parted ways with guitarist and founding member Steve Klein. A replacement for Klein will be chosen in the future. Following the Parahoy Cruise in March 2014, the band plans to begin writing their eighth studio album. In a message to fans on Facebook, NFG posted the following statement:

"It is with heavy hearts that we must let you know that Steve Klein is no longer a part of New Found Glory. We’ve had our differences with Steve over the years that have led us to this decision. We love Steve however personal differences have guided this decision and we no longer feel we can work with him. Rest assured that New Found Glory will still go on! After the Parahoy Cruise we are planning to write a new record and start this new chapter for our band. We have not decided on who will fill Steve’s position however we will let you know our plans as soon as we figure that out. We love you, our fans, so much and appreciate your dedication and loyalty to our band. We hope you stick by us during this difficult time.

Yeah they apparently left the part out about him being arrested repeatedly for lewd conduct with minors. This is getting to be a fucking epidemic.

New Found Glory Talks New Album, Becoming a Four-Piece Aboard Parahoy! Cruise (http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/5930304/new-found-glory-interview-new-album-four-piece-aboard-parahoy-cruise)

Now that there's only one guitarist, is it a challenge translating the parts in these songs?

CG: No. When we came to Florida for the cruise, we practiced for two days. We were kinda like, "Alright this is going to be our first practice as a four-piece and we'll see how it goes." We thought on slow songs, Jordan could play some if we needed it. And then Justin (Ksionzek), who's my guitar tech (and road manager) and played guitar for Set Your Goals on tour, if we need it we can have him play it on the side. But after practice we were like, "It's really not missing anything." It sounded so good that we were like, "You know what, let's keep it like this." We always knew we would keep it as a four-piece.

There was never any thought, nor will there be any thought or consideration to ever have a fifth member. It's always going to be the four of us. As far as live, we're figuring it out, but we like it better than having an extra person. It's definitely easier to worry about us four than trying to find someone.

Because you four have been together for so long, you think it wouldn't be the best to throw in somebody new at this point?

CG: Yeah that, and I think it wouldn't feel right. I wouldn't expect our fans to get used to some new member of the band. And also, we're a punk rock band. Most punk rock bands just have a guitar, bass and drums. The Descendents, the Ramones, you name 'em, it's just how it's always been. A lot of our songs aren't lacking a second part. We're not playing intricate, shredding things where we need more. There's not much of a loss sonically. I think a cool thing, too, is when we're writing for our new album, we'll be writing as a four-piece.

Have you guys started writing or recording?

CG: There's little riffs here and there. We have the cruise. We have a few festivals overseas. When we go home we're going to go into full writing mode. There's a few ideas scattered. Me, Jordan and (drummer) Cyrus (Bolooki) all live in Southern California so we're going to be meeting up. We already announced the tour in the UK -- Pop Punk's Not Dead UK -- we're going to be announcing a fall tour pretty soon in the States. And people can expect to have a new album before that tour.

I know Steve Klein wrote some of the band's lyrics. How will the lyrical process be different without him on the new album?

CG: It's always been five ways. We want it to feel like a band. Even if I could write all the lyrics, even if Jordan could write all the lyrics, we always split everything five ways: "So I have an idea for this part." There are parts in albums where I wrote a lot of the lyrics. There are parts on albums where Steve wrote a lot of the lyrics, even albums where Steve did the majority of the lyric writing. Then there were albums like "Coming Home" where I did most of the chorus lyric writing. But it was always split. Jordan had songs where he did stuff. Now it will be four ways. Now we'll have (bassist) Ian (Grushka) and Cyrus contribute more.

JP: The cool thing about that is we've known each other for so long and we know what we've all been going through in our personal lives and all that stuff. To some people it sounds weird, like, "How can you sing what someone else wrote?"

CG: It's all of us. Especially the last year, we've been through so much personally that it's going to be probably more easy to write lyrics this time than ever. To fans that think Steve wrote all our lyrics, we don't have egos so it's ridiculous for me to come out and be like, "I wrote this song!" That's just ridiculous. You can only live by example. You can say whatever you want but we're going to write an awesome album and that's it. It doesn't matter what people want to say on message boards, know what I mean? I don't pay attention to that stuff.

that statement is from december, if there was a release today thats not it. shocking, coming from you.

Steve Klein (ex-New Found Glory) arraigned on child pornography, lewd conduct with a minor charges (http://www.altpress.com/index.php/news/entry/steve_klein_ex_new_found_glory_arraigned_on_child_ pornography_lewd_conduct)

Idobi is reporting that Steve Klein, former guitarist of New Found Glory, was arraigned in a San Luis Obispo, California court on December 12, 2013 for charges that include “lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 14” and possession of child pornography.

Klein was not jailed after the arraignment and will remain free until his next court appearances, which are scheduled for March 20 and April 10.

On the day of Klein’s arraignment, New Found Glory announced that they had parted ways with the guitarist and founding member. It was only recently (this month) that the band announced they would be remaining a four-piece without Klein.

We have reached out to the band and their management and will keep you updated as this story unfolds.
DETAILS OF STEVE KLEIN’S ARRAIGNMENT REVEALED (http://idobi.com/news/2014/03/steve-klein-felony-arraignment/)
Steve Klein, former guitarist for rock band New Found Glory, was arraigned in a San Luis Obispo court on multiple charges, including lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 14.

On December 12, 2013, Stephen Lee Klein was arraigned at San Luis Obispo Superior Court and pled not guilty to multiple felony charges—two counts of lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 14, three counts of lewd conduct with a minor 14 or 15, one count of intent to commit lewd act with a minor, and one count of possession of child pornography. Klein was represented in court by Guy Galambos, a partner from the law firm of Stein, Casciola & Galambos.

Unusually for such circumstances, Klein was not booked after the arraignment and remains free until his next scheduled court appearances on March 20 and April 10.

On the same day Klein was arraigned, New Found Glory announced via their Facebook page that the band had parted ways with their guitarist and founding member. The band’s management declined to comment for this story.

Glad he got his just desserts. He's basically the most expendable member of NFG, so they'll survive just fine without him.

I don't get that. If i had his autograph I'd be fine. He's a shit person but that music and memory would be fine.

I'd love a signed Chris Benoit picture and I don't even care that he killed his family with his bare hands.

It just seems weird, I also have Tim Lambesis and that's a whole other thing. Honestly though it doesn't surprise me that the pop punk/emo/scene bands are the eons getting caught up in this.

Statement from Steve Klein's Attorney (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=3688881)
It is a difficult challenge to defend oneself in the media when there is a pending criminal case. This is because people are quick to assume that if a person is charged with a crime, they are also guilty as charged. And it is especially difficult because criminal defense attorneys insist that their clients not talk about the case to ensure that their constitutional rights are protected. Furthermore, attorneys are limited by law as to what can and cannot be said about a case to the public.

In the matter of Steve Klein, since his case has now been brought into issue by the media, I am permitted to make a few statements. To that effect, I offer you the following indisputable facts about the accusations:

1. Steve Klein is not accused of having any lewd actual physical contact with any minor.

2. ALL charges against Steve are derived solely from online consensual video chats between Steve and some female strangers he met on an adult website. Steve believed the females were over the age of 18.

3. The females alleged to be “minors” in this case are not known females. This means that no one, not the prosecution, not the police, and not the defense, actually know who the females are and no one knows their true age.

4. The possession of child pornography charge is based solely on Steve allegedly “possessing” the videos of chats with the female strangers from the adult website.

This is about all I am permitted to disclose at this time. But I can tell you, from my many years of experience in this specialty area of criminal defense, I wholeheartedly believe that Steve Klein is innocent of all of these charges.

Steve is devastated by these accusations. He has lost his band, his livelihood, and his ex-wife continues to push for full custody of his children using this case as her pawn while he literally fights for his life. Despite this heavy hand, Steve remains strong and hopeful that he will be vindicated.

Upon our return from Warped Tour Australia, Steve made us aware of possible allegations that might be made against him. At that point, not knowing all the details, we made the decision to part ways in order for him to deal with these personal issues. Us 4 members of New Found Glory have given our entire lives to this band and will continue to do so. We’ve been able to play all over the world for the most amazing fans. We can’t wait to get in the studio to make a new album and we can’t wait to get back on the road! Just coming off the Parahoy cruise and a surprise show in our hometown we are more inspired than ever! Thank you so much to everyone around the globe for always sticking by us. The future is bright.
idobi update (http://idobi.com/news/2014/03/steve-klein-felony-arraignment/)
Additional Update: Consultation with other California criminal attorneys view that it is unusual for a defendant to be released without bail in a case with similar charges. They speculate that for a judge to rule for an OR (Own Recognizance) release, there may be other facts not in the public record that strongly side with defense’s arguments.
