They've consistently been one of the best sounding live bands, ever. Tom is meticulous as all hell at soundcheck.

How many times have you seen Boston?

Ah, good point. Didn't even think about that.

Twice. Unfortunately, neither with Brad. He passed on just as I was entering the world of music. I saw the Brad tribute concert at the Bank of America Pavilion (now Blue Hills Bank Pavilion) in August 2007 and the Boston/Styx tour the following year at Meadowbrook in New Hampshire.

I'm definitely catching the show at Mohegan. Boston and Cheap Trick for 55 bucks on a Saturday night. Win.

I've never seen them but if Cheap Trick was at the L.A. show, I would probably go. I'll have to wait and see who opens.

I saw them play a super small towns outdoor fest. They headlined one night, other acts were like Salt And Pepper, MC Hammer, and Pat Benatar.

Two hours for me (if 93 isn't a cunt and I can escape work by 3) and I'd still pick it over any venue on this side of the country, even if it was just a train ride away to the Garden or Pavilion.

Save for Red Rocks and maybe The Gorge, Meadowbrook is arguably the best summer venue in North America.

Plus, I've yet to see Night Ranger. They're a bucket list band for me.

I've seen/met Cheap Trick numerous times thanks to Eddie Carlino, owner of Carlino Guitars in Medford, MA. He has his own guitar lines called the Carlino Identity & Impulse and he ended up building 2 or 3 for Rick Nielsen. Got to meet all of Cheap Trick on the Def Leppard/Poison tour in 2009. All nice dudes. Plus, CT is headlining at the Casino Ballroom a few weeks before this show. Everybody wins.

I agree about your Meadowbrook statement. I was only there for one show and it was Slipknot in a couple years back and the sound was awesome and its just such a nice area. Parking is great and there isn't a huge swelling of people in or out it just kind of flows.

I need to see them once atleast but I have a ton of bands on that list still Boston included so this is 2 birds with one stone.

That's awesome about Cheap Trick I have yet to see them so I might go to that show if I have the extra cash/don't have Annual Training

Any San Diegans here? Never heard of this particular place. Is it one of those free shows on the beach or something?

No, its an open air venue that seats a bit over 1000 on Shelter Island (a couple of miles from downtown). Not a bad spot, saw a number of shows there during the 10+ years I lived in San Diego.

On a different note, wish Boston was coming to the northwest.

I bought tickets for the Spokane show. The Star Theater venue is pretty cool -- basically the larger arena cut in half -- with not really a bad seat in the house kind of deal...

This will be my first time seeing Boston since way back in September of '78 when they kind of melted my 14 year old brain just a little bit. The opening act that night was an up 'n' comer by the name of Sammy Hagar. I'd rather see Cheap Trick as the opener, but we get Night Ranger instead. Coincidentally I've seen NR one time before as well, opening for the then at the top of his game Sammy Hagar in the Spring of '83.
