And of course Unearth has to tour with shitty openers. Seriously, even if you hate Unearth, there's no way you can truthfully argue that they're not better than Winds of Plague.

I'd love for this to hit Chicago.

I'd go for Unearth, but I won't go because of Winds of Plague. Maybe next time.

Unearth is about a million times better than the openers here and I don't even like Unearth.

And of course Unearth has to tour with shitty openers. That's the story of their entire career as a band. It's simply astounding to me that the pattern hasn't changed during their entire existence. I just can't believe that nobody has ever pointed out to them that they consistently tour with shit bands.

I'm starting to think Unearth just hates their fans.

Well said. They should be bigger than they are. My buddy promotes for Baltimore and he had no interest in booking them because he would break even at best.

The fact their "headlining" sets are 45 mins or maybe an hour do them no favors either.

Unfortunately i'm sure a lot of Unearth fans like the shitty bands they take on tour with them. They land on decent lineups when they do support tours but they take 3rd rate deathcore bands with them every time they headline. And i'm sure the fact that Winds of Plague named their band after an Unearth lyric is a factor.

The tour they did in 2011 with Chimaira and Skeletonwitch must have been an anomoly.

much like every other "new wave of american heavy metal" band (whos names arent killswitch engage and lamb of god), despite all the hype and attention, they never quite got over that hump to the next level. so its either tour constantly with anybody, or be choosy and supplement with real jobs. it sucks to see them tour with shitty bands so much, but i cant exactly fault them.

You hit it spot on! They do tour with shitty bands, dunno why? They play shorter headline sets, for some strange f***ed up reason? This is probably part of the reason they haven't made the "next step" and moved up the echelon ladder as it were. Sux cuz when they came onto the scene, they had all the potential in the world! Hell, Kerry and Slayer hand picked them to tour with them, that's gotta say something!?!?! But they have always been a great live band, at least the times Ive seen them, and they always bring it.

i dont know why people make such a big deal about somewhat short sets (and i certainly dont think that has anything to do with them not getting to the next level). as much as i enjoy the band, i dont need to hear them chugging on the open B string for 90 minutes straight. besides, whens the last time they even did a proper headline tour? it seems like all co-headlining or large package tours over the past few years, so they kinda cant go and do a super long set on those anyways. and even when they do do a proper headline, its with like 3 or 4 shitty bands under them, so they cant really go long in that case either.

No one expects a 90 minute set. But 60-70 would be nice.

Listened to a couple of songs by Texas in July. Not too bad actually. Pretty safe, standard, generic, partying-like-it's-2006 metalcore. Not great, but certainly listenable and something I can see myself bobbing my head to live. Comparable band soundwise is probably Parkway Drive.

So basically, 1000x better than Winds of Plague.

Texas In July are the definition of bland and generic live.
