I'm considering making a road trip & going to see my favorite band (Sevendust) there in April. Is it a cool venue? How is parking? Anything else I should know? Anyone highly recommend or not recommend going to Mojoes? Thanks!

There's a number of Chicago-area people here that should be able to give you some info.

Sucks dick.

Shitty area (middle of nowhere).

Best place to park is in a casino parking garage, (better hope they don't see you and tow you).

Venue is tiny, sometimes shitty crowd. Shitty security. They've been known to let glass bottles be served. Two big support beams in the middle of the pit. Also they tack on shit ton of openers sometimes (I've seen a show there with 5 locals and seen ads for shows for upwards of 8 or 9 openers).

Well maybe it's opposite day, so when he is saying it is shitty, he means it is the most magical place in the world!:bliss:

Its not that bad of a place like the others said. They do have two pillers in the middle of the pit which is horrible for pits. Bars are nice. Gets really hot though in there. Park at the casino. You wont get towed if you park in the main casino parking lot. They will just think you are going to the casino. Its got good sound. Two floors and 3 bars total. One might not be open which is called the red room.

I personally don't think it's as bad as everyone says. I'm not crazy about it but the pillars that prevents pits is very annoying. Sound seems to be make or break. Selling alcohol in cans is a dumb move they do. I've always parked at the casino and never had an issue. My biggest issue is when they throw on a shit ton of local bands. I don't mind supporting the local scene but 1 or 2 at most is all that's needed. Also, from where I come from, the drive sucks. A lot. If you take the tollways from where I come from you'll spend 9 bucks there and other 9 back. So I have to take main roads.

The locals wouldn't be problem if they got good locals. Usually they only get the shit locals. Also, I get real sick of having to pick glass out of my shoe after every show there because they thought selling glass bottles in the downstairs would be a good idea. Luckily I haven't been there in like nine months. Hoping to keep up the streak.

Well, if you you're going to see Sevendust and worried about glass, they might have a no glass bottle policy at their shows.

I saw Sevendust a few years ago at a dive bar in bumfuck Minnesota and before they came out, some chick (must've been Sevendust's manager) was all pissed on the side of the stage and was bitching at an older guy (must've been the bar owner). Then the guy (bar owner?) rounded up all of his staff and began collecting the glass bottles while the chick angrily stood on the stage with a flashlight to find people who still had glass bottles in the audience.

My main problem is that it's in the middle of fuck ton nowhere and they buy out all the good shows then add shitty locals to it.

Yeah, that's my main gripe too. Also, they make shitty locals pay to play their shitty shows to try and make up for it being in the middle of fucking nowhere.

I'm glad I haven't had to suffer through going out to Joliet to shows since moving to the city.

I lived in Joliet / Plainfield for 16 years, then six months after I moved Mojoes opened.
