Cool. This is usually a good indication of who's touring this spring.

Korn
Deftones
Rob Zombie

Most of those bands won't play. I'm hearing mostly small side stage bands so far but people seem to think Tool is playing(despite APC getting the worst crowd reaction ever when they headlined in 2001) and atleast one band involving Chester Bennington.

I feel if I went on Wikipedia and looked at past lineups I have a feeling I could still guess this years w/ 70% accuracy.

A7X, Alter Bridge, FFDP will be there for sure. No idea on anyone else.

FFDP, KsE, BLS, HellYeah, Escape The Fate, Gemini Syndrome are playing a few shows together in May, count them in (well maybe not HellYeah).

Tool, A7X, STP, QOTSA... probably the usual bands like Seether, All That Remains, Alter Bridge, Buckcherry, etc.

Steev
01-14-2014, 02:12 PM
Hellyeah won't do it

Rock on the Range is in Columbus, the same city that has Al Rosa

So the rumors discussed here are the typical radio-rock/metal like it is every year. Surprise!

NickLed19

Does anyone doubt that they will announce this lineup Thursday? They did the same thing last year.

That was because Soundgarden tried to bail

And the festival has booked heavy acts in the past that aren't mainstream(Mastodon, Danzig, Helmet, Lamb of God, Ghost, Megadeth, Down, Anthrax, In Flames, Clutch, Red Fang, etc) along with the radio friendly and more established acts

My list was just composed of bands that I pulled out of my ass that would most likely play a fest like this

After looking at whose touring this spring here's some that may do it: Kiss, Black Sabbath, Mötley Crüe, Motörhead, Black Label Society, Lacuna Coil, Iced Earth, Combichrist, Blackberry Smoke, Eyes Set To Kill, The Devil You Know, Emmure, Escape the Fate, Gwar, Falling in Reverse, Fear Factory, Soulfly, Queens of the Stone Age, Bring me the Horizon, Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada, Attila, Trivium, August Burns Red, Ghost, I See Stars, Butcher Babies, Dope, Mushroomhead, Thousand Foot Krutch, We As Human, The Pretty Reckless, The Cult, Chimaira, Five Finger Death Punch, Phillip H. Anselmo and the Illegals, Eye Empire, Kyng, Wayne Static, Scar the Martyr

looking at how previous years went and how it's 3 full days its probably 60 bands total, so those are just some guesses

QOTSA
5/14 - tulsa oklahoma headlining
5/16 or 17 or 18 - alabama @ hangout music fest

doesnt quite rule them out completely yet, but i probably wouldnt get my hopes up, quite a haul between all 3 of those cities, even if they were to do days 1 and 3 of either festival, and split the drives on the in between days with other shows or not

They're at best a small maybe, to be honest they strike me as a band who would balk at this festival(consider how much shit they talked about Ozzfest), stranger things have happened though. I've gone every year since 2009 an every year there's a handful booked that surprise me.

GN'R, Slayer, Motorhead, Kid Rock, BLS, Alter Bridge, Exodus, Down, Gojira, Suicidal Tendencies... I'd definitely attend this.

Pretty much confirms Motorhead will definitely be touring between Coachella and this.

Kid Rock?

With them getting Slayer, Motörhead, Gojira, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Down, Suicidal Tendencies, Exodus, and Kveletark this is definitely the most metal they've done

An Exodus/Suicidal spring tour sounds mighty appealing to me.

I'm beyond excited, for this to be 3 days they really stepped it up and put some variety in. I was slack jawed when the guy on the radio said Exodus and Suicidal Tendencies.

ravenheart
01-16-2014, 06:06 AM
That's the only thing that would put me off. There's probably about a day and half of bands I'd want to see, so the chances are they'd end up spread out across all three days and I'd be stuck with a load of down time.

Yep. Way more variety, not just radio rock and radio-friendly metal.

Odds are 6 more bands get added, they've averaged 20 bands a day and 54 have been listed

I'd guess the majority of the metal bands will be the day Avenged Sevenfold headline

WOLVERINEKILLS

I could picture one day being:

GNR
Slayer
Motorhead
Killswitch Engage
BLS
Down
Mastodon
Trivium
Suicidal Tendencies
Fozzy
Kyng
Butcher Babies
Exodus
Gojira
Kvelertak

A few years back they had most all of the heavier bands playing on one day.

I'm really happy with this lineup, it's a change of pace after so many years of the same bands(I mean even ones I like, but this year's has alot of first timers on the bill)

The majority of scene bands will be the day A7X headlines. A7X and FFDP will one day along with I am sure BMTH, OMAM, WCAR, etc.

Kill Devil Hill added, so basically Phil and Rex will be there with Zakk Wylde(who said he's open to doing Pantera songs) and Slayer(who have covered Pantera several times usually via Metal Masters)
