MOTÖRHEAD CANCELS SPRING EUROPEAN TOUR

January 24, 2014 - It is with great regret that Motörhead has to announce the cancellation of their European tour, scheduled to start February, 2014.

Many concerted, diligent and focused efforts were made by founding member, and international icon, Lemmy Kilmister to deal with a range of health issues relating to diabetes. While there has been undoubted progress, Lemmy and the band were advised by doctors that it was still too soon to resume full touring activities, and so for the good of the future, the band and Lemmy reluctantly agreed to cancel.

No-one is hurting more over this than Lemmy, and he feels the aggravation and inconvenience of every ticket, and every method of transportation, already paid for by loyal fans in anticipation of the tour. Being a road warrior of over 50 dedicated, non-stop years, it is equally distressing for him to be unable to occupy the top lounge of the trusty tour bus (his spiritual home) but Lemmy recognizes that his long-term health must win. It goes without saying that Lemmy profusely apologizes for inconveniences caused, but he does want everyone to know that he is continuing on the road to a full recovery, and that the prognosis long-term is very good.

Fans have shown tremendous support for Lemmy, and it has meant so much to him. As he told Rolling Stone, "Oh, man, the fans were unbelievable when I got sick," he says. "No bitching. It was all 'Take your time, get better. Don't worry, we'll wait for you. Get well.'"

Rome was not built in a day...like Lemmy's health. But there is some strong light at the end of the tunnel here...we thank you so very much for your continued love, support and understanding.

so far for US fests we have

04/13 - Coachella
04/20 - Coachella
04/26 - Rockville
05/02-04 - Beale Street
05/16-18 - Rock On The Range

im still putting my money on no tour. if there is a band who has the means and justification (lemmy's health duh) to do a handful of fly festival dates without a tour, its motorhead.

So, so obvious.

I hope Lemmy gets right soon, of course, but I have no sympathy for the business side of this. If he couldn't tour in November, having been off the road since July through illness, February was always going to be too soon. Any idiot could have predicted this, which is why I left getting a ticket for London until the last minute, for exactly this reason. His management were stupid to re-book this tour so quickly.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Some rehearsal photos, including one with Richard Starkey, won't change that.

They'll be back for summer dates, or else it's just a "mockup" to hide the fact that he actually isn't recovering.

I've seen them three times. Twice headlining at the House of Blues and once on Gigantour in Lowell.

The headlining shows (9/6/2009 & 3/1/2011) were both awesome because those were the two shows that stick out in my mind as having the best openers of any show I've ever been to. Nashville Pussy & Reverend Horton Heat opened in 2009 and Clutch & Valient Thorr opened in 2011.

That is one of the worst things I've ever seen in my entire life. Parkway Drive was alright at Warped Tour. Heard good about Darkest Hour. That's the most positive I can be. This is just embarrassing. I'm shocked Motörhead even did this. I can only imagine Lemmys face when he was told who the other bands were. Well, they were really up for the show, which was at a mid-scale festival in a town about 45 minutes from where I live.
He called us the "best audience of the tour yet", and the atmosphere on that hot but rainy day was indeed nice.

The last time I saw them, in 2012, was also good, but the venue sucked. The other time, in 2009, was ok, no more, no less.

Winds of Plauge were good live. I don't remember catching AtB but I'm pretty sure that's because one of the guys I went with wanted to go upstairs and jazzed himself over Abigail Williams. Darkest Hour sounded really bad though. I liked em a lot more when I saw them with KsE last year. I feel like it was worth it sitting through most of the bands to see Motorhead. I would do it again too though I should have just gone to Metal Masters in Conneticut

Alright that honestly would've been awesome since Darkest Hour, Parkway Drive, After the Burial and Misery Signals were all touring off their best albums.

On the topic of Motorhead, I only saw them once at Mayhem Fest and they were very good. If Lemmy can't tour anymore, they should just retire. Would hate to see them try to get someone to replace someone that is as irreplaceable as Lemmy.

Welcome To Rockville also cancelled "due to circumstances beyond our control", and Rise Above Fest confirms cancellations of "upcoming shows".

To our US Fans & Family

It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of our upcoming US run this May (supporting our friends Seether, and appearances at numerous festivals). Due to circumstances far beyond our control, we have been forcibly cornered into a position which has left us unable to fulfil our scheduled touring commitments.

Once again for Skindred, an unscrupulous agenda adopted by a certain ‘company’ (who for legal reasons, must remain nameless at this point) has crippled our ability to bring our reputed live show to the United States. This, we want to assure you, is only a temporary setback. We have suffered a history of similar negligence in the past from various ‘companies’; lesser bands have crumbled and disbanded in the face of such failures. Whilst we are furious that we have been rendered unable to tour the USA this time around, we remain adamant that current circumstances will not deter us from returning in the near future.

As a band, and four individuals who live to tour and play music, please try to imagine our anger and growing frustration with this scenario. We want to play everywhere. We are not in the habit of pulling shows, whether it be in advance or at the last minute. Together with our team we put a huge amount of organisation and resources into our touring calendar; we do this to play shows, not cancel them. Disappointing our fans, fellow bands and organisers is not something we take lightly or want to do, ever. Cancellation is a last resort.

We believe in this album and what it stands for. From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank those of you who have already picked up ‘Kill The Power’, and for supporting us even when the chips are down. All we can ask is for your patience & understanding in this time, while we work on a solution to these current problems. We thank you for your continued support, and hope that any disgruntled fans can appreciate that our hands are tied. We hope that you can be understanding, and we WILL see you soon.

Thanks & respect,
Arya, Benji, Dan & Mikey

What happened to Head Cat? Didn't Lemmy say if he wasn't able to tour w/ Motörhead he would do a new Head Cat album? Honestly, at this point I'd be happier w/ that then seeing Motörhead listed on these great festivals and see the disappointment from everybody when they have to cancel. Yea. I might be looking at it more greedy than I should. If it's bad enough I'd rather him not do anything. I dread that one of these days something much worse has happened. The new album was one of their best in years. I wished I could get to hear something off it.

I fear that it's going to be situation much like Jeff Hanneman's death where it's suddenly announced. I think the management is trying to keep everybody calm, but with the continuing cancellation of shows they're certainly not doing a good job of it. If it was just a slump he needed to get through, I think he would have gained the strength to get back on the road by now. Of course this all speculation on my part, but it seems that his health is simply deteriorating. I hate to be so negative, but given the substance abuse, alcoholism, and heavy smoking that he has done over the years, I don't think it's far fetched to say that Lemmy doesn't have much time left. I'm hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.
