Well lets get this over with. My top 25 albums of 2013.

Full of Hell - Rudiments of Mutilation

http://f0.bcbits.com/img/a3194164628_2.jpg

Heavy and intense as all hell powerviolence. Insanity from front to back.

Ulcerate - Vermis

In my opinion Ulcerate never disappoint. Every one of their releases has been an interesting listen. And those drums are always crazy.

Couldn't have been a better follow up to Worthless. You'll find nothing but heaviness and catchiness in this release.

Iron Lung - White Glove Test

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/images/albums/124317.jpg

One of my favorite hardcore/powerviolence bands at the moment. They're easily one of the most unique bands of the genre, incorporating a lot of doom parts into their already heavy sound.

Ov Hollowness - The World Ends

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/6/8/3/368355.jpg?4022

One man atmospheric black metal band from Canada. Reminds me a lot of early Enslaved, and even Primordial at times.

Grave Miasma - Odori Sepulcrorum

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/8/3/4/383467.jpg?1026

An amazing mix of death and black metal. These guys definitely do a great job being a part of the throwback to old school death metal.

Agrimonia - Rites of Separation

http://cdn2.pitchfork.com/albums/19122/homepage_large.a4bad733.jpg

I really don't know what genre to classify Agrimonia under. It's like a cross between atomspheric black metal and sludge, but with more added to it. Whatever they may be, they certainly impressed me when I saw them live this year as well as on this album.

Wormed - Exodromos

These guys put out yet another intense album. Non stop brutality mixed with technicality.

Krypts - Unending Degradation

I knew from their previous EP that this full length was gonna be awesome. And it sure was. Superb finnish death metal.

Cultes Des Ghoules - Henbane

http://f0.bcbits.com/img/a0384004883_2.jpg

One of the more unique black metal albums I've ever heard. But damn is it good.

Holy crap is this heavy. Sounds like it was recorded in a cavern near a volcano or something.

Cult of Fire - मृत्यु का तापसी अनुध्यान (Ascetic Meditation of Death)

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/9/0/7/390747.jpg?4840

These guys wear some goofy ass costumes, but damn do they make some great black metal. It's more on the melodic side, and seeing as how their drummer was also in Lykathea Aflame, it makes sense to why there are sitars and instruments of the like throughout the album. They definitely combine them together well.

Gorguts - Colored Sands

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/7/9/8/379853.jpg?2716

It took them a while to come back with a new album, but it was worth the wait. I really don't know how to describe this album in words. I can say it picks up from where From Wisdom to Hate left off, but a lot more interesting, and better production.

Defeated Sanity - Passages Into Deformity

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/5/7/2/357241.jpg?5938

A non stop brutal assault from start to finish. God damn this album is awesome.

Nails - Abandon All Life

http://cdn3.pitchfork.com/albums/18981/homepage_large.af602efb.jpg

Nails managed to put out another ridiculously insane album. They had added a second guitarist and the vocals sound way different from Unsilent Death, which certainly contributed to this album being as awesome as it is.

Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/6/1/2/361238.jpg?3351

I was not expecting to like this as much as I did, especially since I don't care much for anything past Transylvanian Hunger. But holy shit it's like Darkthrone decided to listen to a shit ton of Agent Steel and Celtic Frost and come out with this, and it's amazing.

Satan - Life Sentence

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/6/7/4/367468.jpg?3422

This could've been released in 1983 and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Mad props to these guys for coming back after so long with a phenomenal album this year.

Atlantean Kodex - The White Goddess

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/6/6/4/366400.jpg?3935

It's like Candlemass, Bathory, and Solstice had a kid. My favorite thing about this album is easily the lyrics. They cover several mythologies throughout the album along with an amazing voice to narrate the stories. This is the epitome of epic. Enthroned in Clouds and Fire could very well be on Twilight of the Gods (go figure, it apparently is a tribute to Bathory).

Beyond - Fatal Power of Death

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/7/9/6/379617.jpg?3054

A newer death metal band from Germany. This is Morbid Angel on lots and lots of crack.

Tribulation - The Formulas of Death

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/6/5/9/365925.jpg?4227

This is absolutely nothing like The Horror. However, Tribulation apparently know how to experiment the right way and they made this. My friend put it best when he described it as a "death metal jam session." I love that it stays interesting throughout the entire album too, even with the length of the album. You gotta listen to this one to understand, this is another album which is hard to describe in detail with words.

Portal - Vexovoid

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/5/9/7/359762.jpg?0551

This album is a bit more structured with the songwriting in comparison to Portal's previous releases, but still retains the dark and horrific atmosphere and sound they manage to create.

Abyssal - Novit Enim Dominus Qui Sunt Eius

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/6/2/3/362339.jpg?5347

So take Portal, and replace the experimentation with insane heaviness and catastrophic sound, and you get Abyssal. This album is intense.

Inquisition - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse

http://www.metal-archives.com/images/3/8/6/0/386032.jpg?3257

I knew immediately from when they released the preview for this album that it was gonna be one of my favorite albums of the year, let alone my favorite album this year. The guitar work is easily the standout feature on here. I have no idea how Dagon comes up with these sinister riffs and leads but I wanna find out. The drums pair up with the guitar work nicely, seeing as how they are just as crazy. Inquisition can go from absolutely insane parts to mesmerizing slower parts very quickly and still make it work, and they sure take advantage of it on here. It's really an amazing album overall.

I would have expected you to be more a fan of Darkthrone's earlier albums than their later stuff . Can't believe I forgot that one on my top 5.... DERP..... oh well.... Cool list... tons of stuff that I've never heard of... and tons of stuff that I am happy to see represented on here! (fuck yeah tribulation :rocker: )
