Megadeth is missing a digit I think.

I think you mean it has an extra digit :hecho:

Yeah hard to atone from that hideous beginning. Megadave Nutstain wouldn't make my Top 150 of 2013...

Don't they count these things down from 31?

Anvil, really?

Is Rob making them toy plane props?

Wtf man. Even this year when I didn't listen as actively or like things as much as previous years, I was able to find at least 25 albums I like more than Super Collider. :barf:

10. Watain - The Wild Hunt

Not this year. Or apparently the last two years (I agree, I thought they used to).

At the moment it's like they're intentionally picking albums the rest of the world thought were at best mediocre, but mostly shit, in order to show they know better or something.

I was under the impression even Watain fans hate the new Watain album, and we all know that Anvil album was average.

9. Voivod - Target Earth

I guess it's no surprise they're picking Canadian bands where possible.

8. Ghost - Infestissumam

Not that list is going to be predictable or anything.

I do particularly like the term "spectacle of heaviness" in the justification blurb. This band makes Journey sound heavy.

I try to be open minded but I just don't get this band. I have friends who worship them and they play me a song and I feel like I'm being punked.

This is Scooby Doo soundtrack music to me. I picture Shaggy playing the slap bass and "possessed by Jerry Reed's ghost" Fred singing in a pope hat.

I'd rather listen to Journey...

Same here. I had a bunch of people show me them in the month after this new album came out but I can't find the appeal in it.

Agreed.

I mean, the first album is alright. It's just ordinary '70s rock that a fuck-ton of other bands are already doing better. But the longer they're around, the fewer redeeming qualities I can find in them. They're shit live and their songs are childish.

Wrong.

Wrong.

Nope. Entirely correct. Even now that they've realised moving around a bit won't damage the mystique, they're still awful. Easily one of the most boring live bands out there, pretending their kids' music is "heavy".

I don't even want to list what #4 is for fear that it'll turn into another 10 pages of dick swinging about whose version of the band is better...

So Queensryche?

First worthy entry so far.

I had a huge group of friends go crazy over their debut album and were talking it up so much as one of the greatest things ever released.... so I was dumb and bought it..... and was greatly disappointed. It wasn't BAD, per-se..... but it was definitely far from the amazingness everyone talked it up to being.

Aftershock is quite good, but the more I listen to it the more filler I notice.

Keep Your Power Dry, Going To Mexico, Queen of the Damned and Silence When You Speak To Me are unnecessary.

You'll love this.

Q: Black metal has a discount store theatre to it, with costumes and stage names and what have you. You guys take the ALICE COOPER shocking-apron-wearing-mothers-into-fainting thing beyond the limit. Where does the theatre come from in your musical upbringing?

Ghoul: "Ghost derives from a very fanboy point of view. It's a combination of all those big dinosaur rock phenomenons. It comes from a profound fascination with underground death and black metal. Thrash metal, too. The darker elements of Ghost comes from the early ‘90s black metal scene. We picked up a lot of those aesthetics. I was brought up in that underground. The clandestine aspect comes from bands like MAYHEM or SARCOPHAGO or say, DEVIL DOLL."

Not only is the question far off the mark (to the limit? Really?), but that answer. If you're so influenced by black, death, and thrash metal, why are you so fucking soft and campy?

They are so the antithesis of the whole dark, evil thing they're trying to present it's not even funny.

No, certain of his lyrics on Aftershock aren't his best, but filler?

:flame:

Musically, all three are on top form.

It's definitely a good album, but not top 10 worthy at all. Might not have even made top 20 for me.

It is however better than most of the stuff in this list, so on that basis I guess its place isn't too far off. 13 is better though.
