They are slowly announcing bands through the NEMHF Facebook/Twitter pages. Sabaton and Revamp weren't officially confirmed by the NEMHF organizers yet, but they are on the Iced Earth so it would be shocking if they weren't on it. More band announcements should be coming shortly.

I'm not a genius but I would think that usually happens with a fest that is half a hardcore fest and books a ton of hardcore bands.

Do you expect people to skank during Harms Way?

It's the crossover nature of most of those bands themselves and the fans. It's gonna happen. You just deal with it.

Had a blast as the 2011 Fest. Such a great hardcore lineup, Biohazard, Hatebreed, TUI, Bury Your Dead, Blood for Blood. Yeah their rules kind of suck and their organizer was a complete dick to me when I inquired about filming, but I thought the atmosphere was great. I'd love to make another road trip depending on the lineup.

I didn't know that, I just turned 21 this year and I don't tend to drink at show so I haven't had to deal with that yet. That's a pretty stupid rule.

It's also very smart. 1 beer at a time per wristband. The last thing you need in the palladium are people double fisting.

I've been to portions of 5 different NEMHFs, including the entire 2002 fest (look it up.... amazing). It's always a funky mix of hardcore kids, metal kids, and people who make it their one palladium appearance of the year.

So far, the lineup has some potential.

Talk about a lackluster lineup. Each day has a few worthwhile bands but none of the days are really worth the ticket price they do for this event.

One of the days last year they had Shadows Fall, Municipal Waste, Exodus, Every Time I Die, Hatebreed, and Anthrax back-to-back. Both of the other days had plenty of great bands as well.

The latest round of additions to the continually-expanding lineup for 2014’s installment of the long-running NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL has been disclosed, including one of this year’s fest highlights; Massachusetts’ own ‘90s hardcore punk legends, Sam Black Church

Confirmed as one of the main headliners of the event’s third night, Saturday, April 19th, Sam Black Church’s set at NEMHF 2014 will mark only the third performance since they initially disbanded at the turn of the century, and first in Central Massachusetts since the late ‘90s. Stated the band upon being asked to take part in the massive event this Spring, “It is amazing what the man we used to know as Ogre has done with the New England Metalfest! We are fucking excited to be a part of it once again!”

Formed in Boston, in June of 1988 by Jesse “Jet” Crandall (vocals), Ben Crandall (guitar), Richard G. Lewis (bass), and J.R. Roach (drums), Sam Black Church was known for their energetic live performances, playing a frenetic blend of hardcore, metal, and thrash. Over the years sharing bills with bands as diverse as Bad Brains, Clutch, Motörhead, Cro-Mags, Fear, and Helmet, they were one of the most popular hardcore bands in the Northeast United States during the 1990s. After releasing three full-lengths on Taang! Records, they left to join Wonderdrug where they remained until they retired in 2000 after releasing a total of seven albums. Since disbanding, Sam Black Church reunited for a sold-out show on September 22, 2007, at The Roxy in Boston, and played a another sold-out performance at Hometown Throwdown #16 with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at House of Blues in Boston on December 29th, 2013. A documentary of their career by Duncan Wilder Johnson entitled Leave Behind a Groove in the Earth is scheduled for release in 2014.

Also now confirmed to invade this year’s NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL are Oceano, Scars of Tomorrow, The Last Ten Seconds of Life, InDirections and Julius Seizure on Thursday, April 17th, and Reflections on Friday, April 18th. The setup for Saturday, April 19th has also been lengthened with Texas In July, Obey The Brave and the aforementioned Sam Black Church performance.

Featuring two stages, the legendary NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL continues to drive dozens of bands and thousands of fans to the iconic Worcester Palladium. Celebrating its sixteenth anniversary, this year’s edition will take place on April 17th, 18th, and 19th. Watch for additional updates in the coming days and view the already massive confirmed lineup below.

Tickets for the festival are on sale now — including three-day passes, VIP packages and more — available for purchase at THIS LOCATION.

Why does Toronto/Canada suck so much. We have a metal festival with a few good bands, then it gets cancelled after two years. You guys get fucking Nails and Nile on the same day.

NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL Adds Wilson; Finalizes 2014 Fest Lineup (http://www.earsplitcompound.com/site/2014/03/28/new-england-metal-finalizes-2014-fest-lineup/)

The promoters of the NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL, currently gearing up for the sixteenth consecutive annual run of the event this April, have finalized this year’s lineup with the addition of Detroit party crew, Wilson.

Blending crunchy metallic riffs with pop-punk melodies and a raging, party hard attitude, Michigan quintet, Wilson, is all about jacking as much fun into their live sets as possible. Filthy, ultra energetic, hard-rocking mayhem is the name of the game for Wilson, and their set at NEMHF is sure to be an explosive addition to the festival’s Thursday lineup.

With sponsorships from Tama, Ibanez, New Noise Magazine, Monster Energy Drink, All In Merch and others, the iconic NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL will once again feature two stages, the yearly gala continues to drive dozens of bands and thousands of fans from around the country to the renowned Worcester Palladium for solid three days of mayhem. The opening night of NEMHF XVI, Thursday, April 17th, will see headlining sets from Broken Hope, Oceano, Darkest Hour, the final East Coast show ever for Bleeding Through, Emmure and All That Remains. Day two, Friday, April 18th, will feature main acts Slapshot, The Acacia Strain, Carnifex, Whitechapel, 1349 and Behemoth as part of the massive Metal Alliance tour and more. And the final evening, Saturday, April 19th, will see sets from All Out War, a one-off show from Nails, Unearth, a special reunion set from Sam Black Church, Nile and the mighty Iced Earth along with many others dominating the stage.

Additionally, three local bands won the recent Break Thru Music’s Battle for Metal Fest competitions for a chance to perform at the event. This now adds Death Rattle to the Thursday lineup, Carnivora to Friday’s and Acius to the bill on Saturday.

Tickets for NEMHF XVI are on sale now at THIS LOCATION. For VIP packages, point your browser HERE.

I think Fallujah dropped off unfortunately. Or at least they said they couldn't go any farther east due to vehicle problems.

Minus a few closing bands each night I'd spend all my time on the hardcore stage.

Goatwhore on at the same time as Colin. Fuck! I'm okay with skipping Carnifex to see Slapshot, and skipping IDW to see the Mongoloids. Enabler and SoT is a bummer too. Overall, I am pleased.

How long does Inquisition play normally on the Metal Alliance tour?

We got about a 30 minute set in Austin (7 songs), but ours was a little local festival thing; I think they're playing about 40 min. (9 songs) on most dates.

In general it seems like this entire fest was scaled down. Today seemed like what should have been a preshow with headliners on it and not a full fest day.
