View Full Version : Ill Nino -- Detroit, MI -- October 11th, 2013

I hadn't seen Ill Nino since 2004, so I figured I'd check 'em out again. I saw them a TON of times from 2002-2004, and then they just fell off of my radar. The last time I saw them was on their tour w/ Soulfly, Crisis & Twelve Tribes. Literally after every song at that show Christian from Ill Nino talked trash about Max Cavalera and what an ego maniac and an asshole he was. Needless to say, that was Ill Nino's last show on the Soulfly tour. I forgot how good they are. This was a fun show tonight, but unfortunately, much like when I saw Chimaira at the I-Rock a few months ago, there were only about 50 people at the show. Most people either just don't know about the I-Rock anymore or don't want to go there because it's in such a rough neighborhood. Oh well. I was super-psyched to hear "When It Cuts," "Cleansing," and "Liar." I'll definitely see them again next time. "Forgive Me Father" was on the stage setlist between "When It Cuts" & "Cleansing," but they didn't play it. Setlist:

If You Still Hate Me
God Save Us
Te Amo... I Hate You
This Is War
I Am Loco
La Epidemia
Corazon of Mine
When It Cuts
What Comes Around
The Alibi of Tyrants
How Can I Live

Man, I swear the I-Rock probably does hardly any promotion for their shows. The only reason I even heard about that Chimaira gig was because I was bored and visited their website on a whim. Surprised that place hasn't closed down yet.

Up until a few months ago I had no idea the place was still opened until a show at Harpos got moved there. They do absolutely zero promotion and that is more than likely why no one knows what shows are even happening there.
