I just wanted to create a thread on here to talk about some of the lesser known bands at MDF 2014 or really just any band on the line up. With many of these bands the likely hood of seeing them again are very slim. Some of them you don't know you'll like until you see them live or miss them because you think you might not like them but turns out you love them.

If you know some of the bands really well tell us a good starting place to check them out so maybe a lot of people can "study" up on some of the bands before they see them.

Any thoughts? Any good starting places?

There aren't that many bands announced so far. If you're interested in checking out a band I suggest Youtube or Google

Not to be a dick, but if you don't know any of the bands and aren't willing to check them out for yourself, why would you even be going?

Just to get a good idea to where to start because some of the bands might have a big discography. I know most of them, but there are some I don't know that well at all.

Cancer, Sacrifice, Diocletian, and (yeah I know I'm going to get shit for this) Gorguts. Those 4 bands I don't know that well but every other band I know pretty good.

For Cancer, start with Death Shall Rise. For Gorguts, I'd go with The Erosion of Sanity personally, but all their albums are great.

I'm in the same boat as you with Sacrifice and Diocletian. :eyes:

Thanks man! I knew a few albums by them but I'll check out what I don't know on Spotify later.

Besides MDB and Hooded Menace does anybody else know about the bands that were just announced?

Definitely look into Windhand, super heavy doom. I saw them once, really great live. All their material is really good, they actually just released a new album. For Gorguts, the earlier stuff is less technical, so a little easier to get into then say Obscura.

That shit is pretty good. They should play a lot off of this album since they're only doing their early stuff.
