I'm going to Las Vegas next month, the weekend of November 9. Anyone have suggestions for what to do while I'm there?

I am already planning to go to this (http://www.lasvegas.com/event/x-rocks/23112/).

I know Steel Panther used to have a residency in Vegas every Saturday night, but it appears they are no longer doing that? I don't see any dates on the band's website or the venue's website.

I checked Ticketmaster but I didn't see any big-name rock/metal bands playing in Vegas that weekend. Anyone know where to look for local/underground shows in the Vegas area?

Any other suggestions/ideas would be appreciated.

Fuck, how did I manage to post this here? I meant to post it in General Chat.

The Cheyenne Saloon usually has some good shows.

Go see Carrot-top. Anyone who read that last sentence is probably rolling their eyes but we saw him last April and it was the highlight of the trip.

Go to the Grand Canyon. It's really awesome. And if you've ever played Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas or are a fan of U2's "the Joshua Tree" album you'll really appreciate the drive.

The topless shows are boring after the first five minutes.

We also saw a hypnotist named Marc Savard that was really entertaining.

Just have fun, I've been twice and can't wait to go back.

And above all: collect "Hooker Cards". You probably have no idea what I'm talking about now but after your first night you'll have a stack.

Their calendar (http://www.cheyennesaloonlv.com/month) is currently empty for the weekend that I'm going to be there. But I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I've been to the Grand Canyon before. If we had more time I would definitely consider going back. But we're only there for a weekend, and we're not renting a car.

You're probably right on the topless shows. But it's Vegas, so we figured we had to try one. Also, I like boobs.

I'm definitely skeptical on Carrot Top, but I'll look into it. Have you seen Penn & Teller? That's another show we're considering.

LOL, I can guess. ;)

Check out Vamp'd.

Danny Koker from Kount's Kustoms/Pawn Stars owns the place.

The topless shows are okay, it's just after five minutes you've seen all they have to offer so the next hour is a little boring.

I was skeptical on Carrot Top too but believe me; it's probably the funniest show I've seen in a long time.

Penn & Teller I'm not too much a fan of but you never know. I didn't think I'd love Carrot Top and here I am singing his praises.

Was there a few weeks ago. There's nothing metal to do except go to the Hard Rock Cafe, or to the Raiding The Rock Vault show with Paul Shortino, Tracii Guns, Robin McAuley, Andrew Freeman etc.

It's just a big tribute show really, but it's cheap, and for short runs they have extra people playing. The next guest is Lou Gramm. www.raidingtherockvault.com

If you go to that, make sure you pick up one of the coupon books at the monorail stations, as there's a two-for-one voucher in there for it.

Boobs are boobs. What difference does it make if you see them in Vegas or not?

Boobs are boobs. What difference does it make if you see them in Vegas or not?Yeah, who doesn't - but JRA is right. Just check out some free porn on the interwebs and save your money for something truly awesome that you can only do in Vegas, such as going to see "O" (the Cirque du Soleil show at the Bellagio). It's an unforgettable show, and unlike the other Cirque shows, you can only see it at the Bellagio because the stage is specially built and doesn't travel. I've seen a half dozen or so of the other Cirque shows, and none of them compare to "O".

I mean, there is an oh so subtle difference between boobs on a screen and boobs that you see with your own eyes, but going to Vegas to see them seems like a bit of a stretch.
