Let's hope we actually get a date with Kvelertak in on the 10th/11th instead of HOF alone before/after the tour.

High on Fire at Middle East downstairs was my first show upon moving to Boston. I should hit this up to relive the (relatively recent) old times.

Fuck. Yes. What a lineup. This show is a must see for Kvelertak and Doomriders alone, HOF is icing on the cake. Cannot wait for this one.

I've listened to them many times but I wasn't into it. Saw them on the Metalliance tour, still wasn't into it. Kvelertak and Doomriders are both awesome though.

Fuck Royale and their absurdly early shows.

Have yet to go to The Sinclair.

Not complaining at all about Middle East. For me: 89 bus to Davis Square, red line to Central Square and a brisk 3 mile walk back home.

Haven't been to Sinclair yet either, but I've always liked the Middle East. it can fit a decent amount of people,. but still has an intimate feel. Been to 2 shows at Royale, both good shows but something about Royale i'm just not a fan of. Plus Cambridge is way easier than downtown Boston.

middle east is a fucking dump and completely unenjoyable when filled

Coma323

I've seen some great shows at the Middle East but parking sucks there and it can be hot and nasty down there, esp when sold out. Like detuned said it can be unenjoyable when filled and you can't see much from the back.
Every show I've seen at the Royale/Roxy has been nice and easy involving everything about it.

Could always be worse. Could've been the Palladium.

markrz
09-04-2013, 03:24 PM
I'm grateful every time a metal tour comes here and avoids the Palladium. I have no big problem with any of the Boston venues willing to host metal, including Royale.

I agree that the Middle East is miserable when sold out, but I'm always annoyed by sold out crowds anyway (great for the bands & promoter, bad for individual audience members).

mastodon421

Middle East is just as much of a dump as The Palladium, which is probably why they are my two favorite venues to go to:lol: I didn't like the Royale at first, but after going to few shows there I really dig it. Haven't been to The Sinclair yet either, though I've heard good things from a few of my friends that have been there.

Middle East is just as much of a dump as The Palladium

True, but I'd rather a dump 3 miles away that costs me nothing to get to/from rather than a dump 48 miles away that I have to spend at least 15 bucks in gas & 5 bucks in tolls to get to/from.

TehBr00tulz

Main reason I dislike the Palladium is because I have to take the train out there/back after shows, and getting to Boston at 2 am with no bike/car/ride is an absolute pain in the ass. Plus, shows in the area I can actually go to on weekdays! Also, November is going to be an amazing month for shows.

energymetal14

November is going to be an amazing month for shows.

This. My work is gonna have to accept the fact that I won't be working weekends that month cause I'll be at shows every weekend.

And valid point about the Middle East, it can be ridiculous when it is filled up. And about Royale, maybe I just need to get over my reservations of having metal shows in a nice nightclub with chandeliers. And I used to like the Palladium but I have come to despise it as well.

Hmmm, maybe I'm underestimating but could HoF really fill the Crofoot (~1100 cap IIRC)? Either way, I'll have to think about that one.

Regency is a pretty big venue for HOF even with Kvelertak, especially for a Wednesday.

I thought the same thing. Last time I saw HoF was at the Great American Music Hall (with Kylesa and Torche - great show), which is way smaller, and I don't think they are much bigger now.

Unfortunately, I can't make this show. If it was a Saturday, I would be there.

I swear High on Fire's genre on Metal Archives gets changed every day: it's now "Stoner/Doom Metal with Thrash influences"
