People who post ambiguous statements on Facebook purely to get attention from all their weirdly clingy friends like "I'm so upset right now" and then when everyone asks what the problem is, silence.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!
Not quiiiiiiiiiite the same, but somewhat, back in the Myspace days a friends of mines girlfriend posted "OMG worst day ever" or something like that, I, being a good and worried friend, messaged her asking "Oh no whats up!?" her reply "Oh, nothing really, i got in a small fender bender when leaving the school parking lot, its really hard to notice though."

I find driving in snow fun, but it's the other guys around me... the ones going 70 when they need to be hanging low. Saw a few cars flipped over on my way home tonight.... so scary.

Ohhhhhh, that's a good one. My old house/street was brutal for that, then in winter you'd lose a foot on each side of the road because of snow. There were a couple time when there were so many goddamn cars parked on the road, I'd get halfway through it and meet up with some other guy going the opposite direction. It was a major factor in me leaving my old house.

So I'll add, people who have a garage, and a driveway and they have so much shit in the garage that one of their cars is permenently parked on the road.

Nowhere specific. The HMV megastore Downtown Toronto has dropped their prices a lot but most if what I want seems to be twenty dollars. Sometimes lower, sometimes higher. Amazon.ca is all over the place.

The only place I can regularly get a CD for under fifteen dollars is Wal-Mart. But they don't carry much I want outside the rare mainstream release. I don't frequent the indie stores because I don't know where they are.

I shop at the megastore all the time. The majority of the stuff in their Metal and Punk selection 2-for-25, so I just go on a spree when i'm there. Maybe you're just buying too much super-duper-underground stuff. I did see both Black Breath albums there for $20 though but held off on buying them for now.

Honestly, I don't know. I don't watch very much TV at all anymore, since I canceled my cable and only watch Netflix or download.

As far as recent shows? The League on FX is great, or rather was great, up until season 5. I always liked How I Met Your Mother, but could never get around my disdain for Ted even though I loved all the other characters. My wife and I watched a bit of Raising Hope, and I found that quite funny too, mostly because of Jimmy's parents. I guess if you were to ask me what my favourite comedy is since Seinfeld went off the air, it would be The Office. Yes, THAT Office. Not the original BBC version, even though I do think it's funny. I fell in love with the American version years ago and I still find it funny today. Oh, speaking of British comedies, I also found The Inbetweeners to be a riot.

Anyway, say what you want, but I just don't find Big Bang Theory funny. I borrowed the first three seasons from my mum, and never did more than chuckle. I expect a good comedy to have me on the floor laughing my ass off. For the record though, Frasier is one of my top 5 comedies ever. That shit was GOLD.

The writing is so much sharper than shit like New Girl, How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Two Broke Girls, and all that other Sunday morning cheesy "we'll never be Tool Time" crap. But I know how finding a main character annoying can ruin a show, as Gordo said about Ted in How I Met Your Mother (for most people, that's Barney).

I don't want to be too harsh on where you live but I never went to the USA until I was in my mid-twenties (around 2006). And the first time I ever crossed over the border was (I believe) the Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls, Ontario into Niagara Falls, NY. All those boarded up houses, cars on blocks, and stores that advertised "food stamps" as their main draw left a very lasting impression.

Ick. One of my least favorite things. So glad I haven't had to do it since 1996. My only other job change since then was in 2002, and it was totally voluntary. I was basically invited to interview and the job was mine to lose, which of course I didn't since I'm a master bullshit arti- I mean, pretty good at being interviewed. ;)

Best of luck. :fist:

I interviewed yesterday and they asked me what type of music I like and what kinds of books I like to read. And... well... I didn't lie to them.

I'm confident I won't make it to the second round of interviews.

Ocean Carrier Import Transportation Analyst position with Lowe's Companies.

It is irrelevant, but the guys that interviewed me seemed more interested in getting a feel for what kind of person I am, what kind of personality I have, what my interests are, etc., than my knowledge of all the stuff relevant to the job. I completely respect this. It could have been a big win scenario for me if they had been even slightly similar to me in any way.

Aha. I can vouch for that via personal experience. As I mentioned above, the job I interviewed for in 2002 was a lot like that, since they basically already knew I was qualified. Turns out my future boss (and his boss as well) were both fellow boaters, so we hit it off well and it was a slam dunk. Easiest interview I've ever had, and a very fortunate situation to find oneself in.

Nice. I imagine, and this is just a hunch, but in my opinion a justifiable hunch considering I've read what you've had to say on this site for years now, that you have a very personal demeanor and a charming personality that would woo interviewers. That goes a long way.

I would prefer to interview without talking about music, books, etc., because in all honesty most people don't like the things we do, and the odds of winding up across the table from someone who does, especially in an interview setting, are unfavorable.

Too bad I have an anti-lying philosophy though. If they ask, I'm going to answer.

Yeah, I'm trying to create a virus that causes a zombie apocalypse so I can sell it to Putin. :D

But seriously - I'm not sure where you got the "lab" part of my job description from. I've done that kind of work before, but not since college, really. More often than not I work in a typical office setting (a cubicle, actually). Occasionally you'll find me on site on some R&D project I may be working on, such as post-combustion capture of carbon dioxide from coal flue gas (back in 2008 - 2011), or for the project I'm working on now, where we built a pilot plant with $15 million of government money to prove a concept called chemical looping.

To answer your question, I'm a chemical engineer by education with an Executive MBA. I've worked a lot in business development (hence the strong interview skills ;)), and recently as a project manager responsible for getting the above equipment designed, fabricated, constructed and tested.

It all sounds rather glorious perhaps, but there are actually a lot of other people who do what I do, and probably better than I do it. I'm just a cog in the big machine, man.

Was talking to someone, we'll call them Franko, about someone else, we'll call someone else Richard. You see, I was telling Franko about Richard, and how Richard is really lazy and couldn't do something because he was busy all day... then I went on Richard's Facebook and he had been posting all day and commenting on stuff and playing stupid games on there... but ya know, too busy to do something important. All Franko got out of that story, "Oh, Richard has a Facebook!?"

So... I hate people who only focus on the word Facebook and cancel everything else out.

Yeah there's been nothing but late shows recently. The worst is when they're on weekdays. I gotta be up at 5 AM Monday through Friday (as I'm sure others do) and that's no fun as it is.

Nah it was done by the guy who runs Blacktooth Entertainment. Inertia never runs past midnight on weekdays, and usually is over by 12:30 on weekends.

Any locals only show always seems to have doors at 9 and ends between 1-2 am. I wouldn't go, but the bands are really great, and Inertia seems to put those bands on his shows sparingly. His opener choices are usually pretty bad IMO considering how many great local bands there are.

OMFG THIS!!!! Agalloch played last night and the show "started" at 9:00pm (mostlikely a little later, I didn't go), which means Agalloch likely went on around midnight. I like Agalloch, but seeing them THAT late would most likely put me to sleep.

Also, when my band did our tour last Summer half of the shows didn't start until 9 or later.... we're a pretty much unknown band, no one wants to go to a show that late for something they don't know, and then stick around even later. I remember our show in Salt Lake City didn't start until 10:30. There was no one there, I asked the soundguy "Can we just play and get it over with?" and he kept saying no... it was so fucking stupid.

The Kataklysm show at El Mocambo in April was an Inertia show and Kataklysm didn't go on until Midnight. Granted it was a Saturday but still. Of course Inertia sometimes has to pack the bills with local openers which always pisses me off.

At least here in Pittsburgh, shows start that late at times because that's when the majority of the audience will come out. For whatever reason unless it's a massive (IE a band that pulls in 500 or more) show, people will not show up for an 8pm show until 9:30.

Then all they've got to do is make a sold-out show of that kind start on time at 8pm. They'll only have to do it once or twice. People will soon stop being retarded once they've missed half a bands set a couple of times.

Well they do. The problem is if you're band that brings in <100 people and you start a show at 8pm maybe 15 people will come vs. the 80-100 that'll come at a show starting at 10pm. I never understood it when I put on shows but when you're working with bands with guarantees and just wanting to make money for the touring band in general you have to bend to the market in order to maximize what you bring in.

Unless its a weeknight, that is a HUGE variable. Starting shows when people usually go to bed for work is just fucking retarded. Mini-tour I did last summer and a couple of those shows didn't start until late, and NO BODY was there, even with local support. Why? Because starting a show at 10:00pm on a Thursday is just dumb when a lot of people have to be up at 6:00am the next morning (unless you're a crusty that just couch surfs and doesn't have to worry about life)... start one late on a Friday or Saturday, ok, why not? Sounds like when I was in the restaurant business as a busser/barback. We'd send someone home early and then we get wrecked. Luckily we split the tips at the end of the night between how many of us were there, so more money from more business between 2 people rather than 3 was awesome.
