Hmmm....the dates are spread apart, so I would have to think that there have to be more dates in between to make it more worthwhile

Oct 28th- LA

Nov 8-10 Austin

Nov 25th- NY

Lotta room in there....maybe the theory of a Slayer/Gojira tour is starting to come together

After seeing them in the Academy this year being the best time I've ever seen them, I can safely advise all of you to give this a chance. Bostaph is a beat behind the kid, and Gary Holt is playing SO much better than Jeff did live in his last few years. Tom is also sounding awesome these days. Give it a shot, you might enjoy yourselves.

I wonder if this tour is a sign for the end of Slayer? I personally think they should call it quits after this tour. :hmm:

I am a bit surprised that they aren't (or haven't confirmed) dates in the southwest like Arizona or New Mexico; I can see how Colorado would get passed up since we are not a heavy hitter in terms of a metal market but places like Phoenix, Tuscon, and Albuquerque have a huge metal presence in good part because of being close to Mexico; so if they won't do Denver I am hoping that Albuquerque gets added because I will make the trip if not just for Slayer but for Gojira, one of my top bands to see

(as crazy as it may sound) I really want to see Slayer with Bostaph.

Me too! One must NOT forget that Bostaph was with Slayer from 1992-2001. He never recorded any of the bands greatest material with them but he was definitely a big part of the band(The Live Instrusion concert, War @ the Warfield, and he's recorded some classic songs with slayer!). Also, Disciple, Dittohead, Divine intervention, 213, Payback, and Killing Fields are some of the best songs that Paul has recorded with Slayer! I'm a go out here on a limb and flat out say that "Disciple" is still to this day one of my all time favorite Slayer tunes, and it is easily one of the best and heaviest songs that Slayer has ever recorded, and It's awesome to know that it was Paul behind that drum kit, NOT Dave. Disciple was also my first Slayer song, ever. The first time I heard the song was sometime in 2001 during my first year in Middle school. :rocker:

I can't wait for the 28th of next month. Definitely gonna make up for this after missing Black Sabbath due to me being an imbecile :hmm:

Im not exactly sure if its the gym or the arena. Ive seen Primus (Hallucino-Genetics-Frizzle Fry tour) there and LoG (Wrath tour) a few yrs ago. Even as I got in, I wasnt sure if it was either or. Its kinda like an auditorium style but wide instead of long. Half the venue is auditorium seats and then a wide floor. Both shows I saw had great sound though! Its also unfort its there as its out of the way from the Ste Catherine core. Was hoping it woulda been Metropolis of course.

Being a Sat night, Im staying over, Im not driving back to Ottawa after this show!! Be my 14th time seeing Slayer!! Possibly the last too :( Too me, it's still 2.75 of Slayer with Paul there! \m/\m/ Either way, can't wait!!:rocker:

What exactly is Cepsum like? I can't seem to find any info on the concert "area". Are the shows in the hockey arena, or in the gym or somewhere else?

It is a ice hockey rink with stands on just one side, there is a lot of them (see picture below), the stage is facing the stands ont the ice in the midle on the side where there is no stands. So the floor is very large and the sound is okay from what I remember. (I saw SOAD in 2002 and COB (with Lamb Of God) in 2009).

The two biggest problem are

1: Going in: There is just one place to enter and it is very small, they let you in almost 1 by one and the security there gives you a body search almost up to your private parts. This is extremely long and both time I went there I've missed some openers because of that and it was not a badlucks. The line to go in is huge and goes fucking slow to enter. Remember this place holds up to 5100 ! I read about it and it's always like that

2: Toilets. There's some nice bathrooms in the stands but thet won't give you access to them because I think you can also have access to the university in the same hallway. So they put security there and no access. Instead they have some Johnny-On-The-Spot on one side of the ice on the floor, separated by a curtain. So 5000 SOAD or Children of Bodom fans who drink beer like there's no tomorrow are to share around 25 of those . it's was crazy both times, Imagine for .5layer ! One time I had to pee on the floor near the curtain :bliss: The lines are huge , same for the beer, coat check and merch stand. This place is just bad...

LOS ANGELES, CA - Tuesday, October 22, 2013 -- To help mark the band's very first performance at the Hollywood Palladium in 25 years, Slayer will play a special, one-time-only set at their show this Sunday, October 27. According to Kerry King, Sunday will be "Old School Slayer Night," and the band's set list will be comprised of songs dating back to the band's inception, will include tracks from the genre-defining Reign In Blood as well as South of Heaven, the band's second Gold album, up to and including 1990's Seasons In The Abyss, their third Gold disc. "We're still putting together the set list," said King, "but we're going to make sure we play one or two rarities as well. Should be a lot of fun for the band as well as the fans." Sunday and Monday's Palladium dates are part of Slayer's five-week North American headline tour - the band's first in two years - that kicks off this Friday, October 25 in Las Vegas. Slayer - guitarist King, Tom Araya/bass, vocals, drummer Paul Bostaph, and guitarist Gary Holt who continues to fill in for the late founding member Jeff Hanneman - will have Gojira and 4ARM support on all dates. Check out the Tour section for further dates and tickets.

Yeah real "old school" there, Kerry. Not a bad set but when you bill it as old school and still play shit off World Painted Blood and God Hates Us All, that's kind of a misleading title. Other than that it's almost the same set list they've been playing over the past year or so. Captor of Sin is back which is cool. But Threshold?? You gotta be kidding me. "I think if there's another record after this one and Gary is still with us at that point, I think that will be a time where I say, ‘Hey dude, feel free to throw any riffs my way if you're interested'."

This show shouldn't be over $40 after fees. I've been going to metal shows for 29 years, I know how much the shows should cost per venue. And trying to skip Ticketbastard fees by buying at the venue doesn't work, either. Most places charge the same amount at the window. I know House of Blues does.

Yes, it does. The only venues that charge more than $2.50 in fees at the window are the Live Nation owned summer sheds. Example: Comcast Center. $13 in fees per ticket at the box office, simply because Live Nation controls them. The Live Nation online fees for summer shows approached $25 per ticket last summer.

If the face value of a ticket is $75 for an arena show, it will cost you $77.50 at the box office if they have fees. Sometimes they don't. Bought a ticket for Rush last year, day of show, at the Verizon Wireless Arena and it was $96 face value with no surcharges.

I was at the House of Blues in August for Ted Nugent. $35 at the box office, day of show or beforehand. $48 online.

Of course, it could be different where you are, but I can't imagine it. Face value on the Slayer tickets are $39.50. If you go to the box office and they're more than $42, I'd be honestly surprised.

The prices are a bit crazy for the Toronto show. I think my friends and I paid a little over $90 for floor tickets at Ricoh. Now tickets for the Kool Haus are $81 on Ticketmaster. I don't think I have ever paid this much to see a band in a club.

I suspect they will have issues selling more tickets at this price point.

I hope they drop the ticket price for the Toronto show. This is as close as Slayer is getting to me on this tour and my brother and I were thinking of making the trip up there to see them. But $81 a ticket for a GA venue is just too much. I thought with the venue being changed from an arena to a club, the price would surely go down.

I like Slayer, but after the fees, you're talking almost $100 a ticket. There's a short list of bands that i'm willing to pay that much for but Slayer isn't one of them.

At that price, I really see not only the ticket price being lowered, but possibly being moved to a smaller venue. Not sure how many Richo Coliseum holds, but I don't see them selling more than a few hundred tix at those prices.

Not neccessarily related to the tour, but not really worhty of it's own thread:

Interesting. So apparently Jeff was also cool with giving Lombardo the boot as well. :eyes:

Nice. Makes sense though. They're not going to come even close to selling out an ampitheatre.

The same venue struggle with Gigantour, and that had cheaper tickets and more bands

As expected, ticket prices dropping hugely. Good thing I've been waiting. Tix for the Lowell show that were $49.50 + fees last week are now only $23 + fees. While it's cool that my friends and I will save some $, this makes me even more uneasy about Slayer's future.

Not surprised a bit. Slayer doesn't have the drawing power on their own. And, much like Megadeth, whoever their booking agent & tour routers are have wayyyy too much confidence. Megadeth's at the HOB 2 days after Slayer plays at the Tsongas, and I don't even think deth's show is sold out.

Agreed. I do think they could sell a good amount of tix if their prices were lower, but at $50-$70 a ticket, they aren't gonna sell a ton.

Would be sweet if the Montreal prices went down, I'd sneak up there tonight for the show. Unfortunately, they're still $63 at the door.

you really think they are going to scam nearly 1000 people? maybe id be skeptical if it was a rinky dink no name promoter, but someone as major as massconcerts couldnt risk the bad publicity, nor would be stupid enough to do so i would hope.

I'd hope not. But "major" people have done "stupid" things before.

Regarding last night's show, they asked you at will call if you wanted floor or seats.

I heard from a friend that, including the ticket giveaways, that the attendance was somewhere in the 1,500 range.

That's a bit sad.

Yes, you were given the choice. As the pics showed, there was a decent crowd. Still a little disappointing, but certainly more than 1,500. Floor was about 3/4 full, seats were fairly populated. Will do a full review tomorrow, or later tonight if I get to it.

Now that the tour is finally over, I wonder if Tom is going to have that "sit down" with Kerry like he's been saying in recent interviews. With the band being billed on next years sonisphere I probably take it Tom is going to have that "sit down" with Kerry for another time. :hmm: :hmm::tp:

I feel like he did it either because Kerry is hard to work with or because he lost faith post Jeff passing. Either way they are gonna get picked up by someone
