MOTÖRHEAD has set "Aftershock" as the title of its new album, tentatively due in September. The follow-up to 2010's "The Wörld Is Yours" was recorded at Maple Sound Studios in Santa Ana, California with longtime producer Cameron Webb and will feature 13 songs, including "Dust And Glass", "Knife", "Going To Mexico", "Lost Woman Blues", "Death Machine" and "Heartbreaker".

Considering this will probably sound just like the last few motorhead albums, this is good news, if not particularly exciting news.

things that are guaranteed in life:

Is it gonna be good? Yes
Is it gonna sound identical to the past 13 albums? Yes

I hope Lem hangs on long enough for one more run in the States. I can't imagine him doing much more after 2014. Fuck, he's gonna be 68 in December.

I hope Going To Mexico is as amazing as Going To Brazil is.

Interesting cover but pretty awesome looking.

I love the cover... but it has nothing to do with the title. They should have called it something related to a nuclear fallout.

Oh hey, look, it sounds like Motorhead.

Or, Motorhead's slightly drunk Dad at a party... :eyes:

Neither of those are necessarily a bad thing.

It's Motorhead and that's all I will ever ask for. Top 10 for sure.

Exactly it's Motorhead! Like AC/DC, Slayer, etc you will always get a solid unchanged album with little to no variation. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

The second one is. I'm not quite as prepared to overlook Lemmy's decline in both studio and live performance as most people seem to be.

Both songs are pretty cool. But, like most of Motorheads more recent material, is only good for a few listens. These aren't songs I'll be listening to in even a year or 2. But I'm sure there will be a new album by then so it all works out I guess.

Anyone else think the riff in Silence When You Speak To Me sounds a lot like Man in the Box?

I thought the same thing when I listened to it

Yeah, I can see that. But my first thought was "Ugly Kid Joe".

The only song which stands out to me is Lost Woman Blues. Oh, and Dust And Glass.

Plus the fact that all of Phil's solos are about ten times better than they've been for years.

My first thought was Jamie's Cryin. The riff underneath the lead melody.

But that aside CUNTING MOTHER OF FUCK THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME!

If there's one thing I hate its an album with more than 10 tracks cos that leaves more of a margin for filler but goddammit, there's not a single weak song on here. This is the best fucking thing this band has recorded since Sacrifice!

I hope Lem has enough gas left in the tank for another go around in the States. I want to hear Silence When You Speak To Me, Heartbreaker & Dust and Glass live.

Yeah alright, steady. It's way more consistent than the last three, for sure, but it's still no Inferno, or Hammered.

Inferno was the gold standard for awhile, but even that had filler tracks.

Inferno fucking rules. Definitely still my favorite Motorhead album from the current lineup.

And since everything recorded by the current line-up (with and without Wurzel) is better than everything recorded before it, that makes Inferno their best album :D

I find it hard to disagree with that, although March Or Die, Bastards and 1916 are right up there too.

1916 will forever be Motorhead's masterpiece.

I find it tough between that and March Or Die, but yes, that period was their best by far.

So I know that Motörhead have done good in sales in the US I'd probably never say great, this is great news.

MOTÖRHEAD's 21st studio album, "Aftershock", sold 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart.

MOTÖRHEAD's previous CD, 2011's "The Wörld Is Yours", opened with 7,000 units to enter the chart at No. 94. The band's 2008 effort, "Motörizer", premiered with 6,400 copies to debut at No. 82, while 2006's "Kiss Of Death" registered a first-week tally of 3,500.

As previously reported, "Aftershock" has registered the following first-week chart positions:

Germany: #5
Finland: #5
Austria: #7
Belgium: #61
The Netherlands: #64

I haven't searched but would this be the highest Motörhead has debuted in US? I know it's the highest in recent memory I would assume. Either way kickass for the band.

By a mile. Motorizer was the next highest charting (#82).
