Unusually, Sweden Rock announced some confirmed bands for next year at this year's festival. They've never done that before, but I guess they figured since bands invited for one year often can't commit until the next year, and plenty of other festivals do the same thing, why not?

I only care about Therion.

I like all of those bands, but it needs a bit more to reach fly-around-the-world levels of mandatory. The biggest eye-catcher for me is Magnum because I don't think I'll get to see them in the U.S.

I'm really surprised they haven't announced any main headliners in time for the tickets to go on sale on Wednesday. Apparently that kind of shit matters to people.

But they've said that one-day tickets will go on sale in January, which means they expect to have confirmed all the main headliners by Christmas.

A couple of days ago, given the other dates Black Sabbath have booked, I guessed they might play Sweden Rock on Friday June 6.

Strong rumours now that they are indeed. I'll be very happy if it's true :D

Very cool to see Night Flight Orchestra is indeed playing live. It's Speed from Soilwork's Classic Rock/Progressive Rock band.

SYL? Only if it's without Devin. Nice try though.

He said that the Retinal Circus is the last time he will ever sing any SYL songs live.

Why though? I mean he has to know that doing SYL shows would be a huge paycheck.

Ok I am speaking for Devin on this one, and the rest of DTP.

Devin doesn't caare about the paycheck that could come with it, he is much happier with his solo music. and with that RVP has told me on a couple occasions (well 2, and one of them being a drunk asshole next to me when i was hanging out with him) that no one felt comfortable when playing those SYL songs for the Retinal Circus, Devin being the most uncomfortable. Devin said it was closure for him.

Honestly, even with not being able to see SYL I am ok with this.

And don't you fuckers forget. Dark Angel is reforming, do you really think Gene Gene The Dancing Machine is going to reform Dark Angel and then say Fuck It to go right back to SYL? Not a chance.

I'm not even sure the paycheck would be that much more significant. DTP's recent skyrocketing in popularity is a little bit astounding to me (and great for him!). I'm continually surprised at how many younger kids I see who LOVE Devin Ziltoid-present (and who are only vaguely aware of his work prior to Ziltoid).

I saw SYL in '06 on their farewell tour, and they played a pretty small place and it wasn't a full crowd even with that show being combined with another intersecting tour (i.e. two crowds at one show), and with it having been already announced as the last SYL outing.
