The Enemy Inside (http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2013/08/04/dream-theater-enemy-inside-premiere/2613895/)

Because when you think of new Dream Theater premiere, your first thought is to look at USA Today. Not entirely impressed, might grow on me.

I hear a lot of SFAM on this one (The heavier sections of SFAM) The chorus is pretty recognizable as the last few album singles kinda have. But I love it.

I like the song. Exactly what I've come to expect from them. Now all they have to do is go back the "evening with" format on this tour and all will be right with the world.

They are in Europe. No clue on the NA tour since that won't be till next year.

Along For The Ride (http://www.grammy.com/news/grammycom-exclusive-first-listen-dream-theater)

Was skeptical when I read "uplifting melodic track". Not a fan of this track. Can't think of a ton of DT songs I like that are under 5 minutes. This reinforces that.

There will certainly be more. But members of this board got to post dates the moment they hear about it instead of waiting until everything is announced and putting it all up at once.

I'm more curious as to where these dates came from since there's nothing on Dream Theater's web page about them?

FULL PRESS RELEASE:

DREAM THEATER ANNOUNCE “ALONG FOR THE RIDE” TOUR;
NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TREK KICKS OFF ON MARCH 20TH IN TORONTO;
PROGRESSIVE METAL TITANS EARN SECOND GRAMMY NOMINATION,
“THE ENEMY INSIDE” UP FOR 2014 “BEST METAL PERFORMANCE”;
CRTICALLY ACCLAIMED NEW ALBUM “DREAM THEATER” OUT NOW
Roadrunner Records group Dream Theater has announced new tour dates for a North American headline trek billed as the “Along For The Ride” tour. The coast-to-coast run will pick up on March 20th in Toronto, ON following the band’s European tour and then continues through the end of April where it will eventually wrap up in Guadalajara, MX (see attached itinerary). Presale tickets will be available starting at 10:00AM ET on Wednesday, December 18th with general onsale for select dates starting at 10:00AM ET on Friday, December 20th. For up-to-the-minute news and ticket information, please visit http://www.dreamtheater.net/tour.
Dream Theater’s guitarist, John Petrucci commented, “We are all really pumped and excited to bring our new live show to North America and to take all of our amazing fans ‘Along For The Ride’! Returning to the ‘An Evening With’ format will enable us to deliver the best DT live experience yet with time for lots of music, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you. With this tour, our goal is for you to be able to step into the world of Dream Theater from the moment you enter the venue. We hope to create an intense and stimulating night both musically and visually and have prepared some really cool things this time around. We’ll be premiering some songs we’ve never played live before, as well as featured tracks from our latest self-titled release and plenty of classic DT songs for all of our long time and hard-core fans. We are all looking forward to a great night of music and super-psyched to kick it all off!”
What’s more, Dream Theater recently earned a second Grammy nomination, this time for “Best Metal Performance” for the single “The Enemy Inside” from their current self-titled worldwide smash album. “DREAM THEATER” made a spectacular debut this past fall, topping Billboard’s “Hard Rock Albums” chart while simultaneously entering at #7 on the overall Billboard 200. The extraordinary chart position marked the group’s third consecutive top 10 debut, and also saw "DREAM THEATER" making top 5 chart debuts in Japan, Germany, Italy, Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Holland, and Finland, as well as top 10 debuts in Denmark, Austria, and Norway, with career high debuts in the United Kingdom and Australia.
“DREAM THEATER,” which was recorded at Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, New York, with founding guitarist John Petrucci producing and studio luminary Richard Chycki (Aerosmith, Rush) engineering and mixing, marks a brilliant new chapter for the always adventurous group. Rolling Stone touted the collection as “…the birth of a new era in the band’s career,” while Loudwire picked “DREAM THEATER” as one of the “10 Best Metal Albums of 2013” and Noisecreep selected the record as one of the “10 Best Vinyl Releases of 2013.”
“DREAM THEATER” follows 2011’s acclaimed “A DRAMATIC TURN OF EVENTS.” That album – highlighted by “On The Backs Of Angels,” which earned the iconic band its first ever GRAMMY Award nomination – (in the “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance” category) – proved one of Dream Theater’s most successful, making top 10 chart debuts in 14 countries, including our own Billboard 200. “A DRAMATIC TURN OF EVENTS” was hailed for its ambition, complexity, and sheer melodic power, with Japan’s influential BURRN! naming it as the year’s “Best Album.”
With total sales exceeding 10 million albums and DVDs worldwide, Dream Theater have long stood among the upper echelon of hard-rock giants. Albums such as 1992’s RIAA gold-certified classic “IMAGES & WORDS” (featuring the breakthrough top 10 single, “Pull Me Under”) have earned the Long Island-based band countless accolades for their visionary synthesis of melodic power and virtuosic experimentation, including being named as one of Rolling Stone’s top 10 “Best Prog Rock Bands of All Time.”
“DREAM THEATER” is currently available in a wide range of distinctive versions, including standard and special edition CDs, 180 Gram Vinyl Double LP, and a Limited Edition Box Set at the Roadrunner Records Webstore.

My guess is no, it's smack dab between Chicago and Burnsville (suburb of the twin cities) so it will be moderately sold out eventually, but not right away.

Nice! Thanks for the info, there's a good chance I might go then. I saw Dream Theater at the Chicago Theatre on the A Dramatic Turn Of Events tour. They played a 2 hour, 8 minute set. What's the difference between that and what they're calling "An Evening With" tour?

Ridiculous. For KC date tickets are either $80 or $167. Seeing them at an outdoor venue in '12 I didn't pay more than $50-55 & I was within 20 rows from stage. I love them but seriously. Didn't know they are now charging The Eagles ticket prices. Shame. This would have been fun.

PVH5150

Didn't know they are now charging Eagles ticket prices.

They're not even remotely in Eagles ballpark. Eagles summer tour this past year had the first 3 sections going for $250, face value.

As far as DT's upcoming tour, the tickets are varying hugely by venue.

(Prices after fees)
Boston: $45-$90
Upper Darby: $52-$70
Manhattan: $62-$119 (with floor being the cheapest, go figure)
Chicago: $44-$85
Burnsville: $58-$78
Kansas City: $81-$168
Seattle: $43-$64
Riverside: $47-$80
LA: $52-$105

KC does stick out like a sore thumb, though. I hope that because it's not on sale until this weekend that TM might have posted incorrect prices. Keep an eye on it, it might change.

Although to be fair, those prices for the KC date are after Ticketmaster fees. You could probably axe a ton of those by picking them up from the venue. Still, I don't really want to pay $60 for just one band.
